  1. I felt similar to you. I felt like all weight loss surgeries were the easy way out. Because even though I was "morbidly obese" I had no medical issues and could go to the gym, walk, exercise, etc. I felt like I wasn't one of "those people" who needed it because they were too large to get exercise in. But the fact of the matter is I would lose weight and gain it back. You have to ask yourself how do you feel when you take away other people's opinions??? You want to do it, so do it. . . it's difficult to make such a hard decision when you don't have very much support but you are all the support you need. And this forum helps too. Because everything you are going through . . . every thing you are thinking . . . someone else is or has to and has vented amongst us here. So come to this forum often and get the support that you may lack in your life. Those that love you will come around when they see all the benefits in the long run. Good luck
  2. 26 grams of protein and 4g of carbs per scoop for the strawberry . . . I make a smoothie every day. Tastes good. Can't drink it straight with water though.
  3. Thanks everyone. And for those stalling, don't feel bad or alone. I was there FOREVER and I felt like I was doing everything right . . . except for water. No biggie. (at least I though) but it made a world of a difference. I have to literally put in effort to get the water down in the beginning. But it's getting easier now. Just give it time and trust that the scale will move soon. I still feel like a slow "looser" but know it's turning around now. :-)
  4. Yes drink the water. I stalled for over a month! . . . I kid you not. lol
  5. Just wanted to post really quickly. I'm 7 weeks from surgery today and the scale has finally decided to move in my favor. I've been reading everyone's posts regarding stalls and I realize Water was my main problem. Not enough of it that is. Once I started drinking water and working out the scale has been moving. So it's been 7 weeks and I'm down 31 pounds. I'm happy with that and am eager to keep this ball rolling. Prior to surgery I lost 21lbs so that's 52 total. :-)
  6. I'm going to try to make it. Great idea to get together every so often. I need some inspiration! :-)
  7. I had my surgery Oct 26th. It's the beginning of wk 3 for me. So far pre op I lost 21 lbs. And have lost about 23 lbs post op. I have a problem with getti g on the scale DAILY!! And lately no change. I was going to the gym but took the last 2 days off. Gonna try to make it today. Trying to hit 30 lbs down after 4 wks. I hope this stall doesn't last for too long. Good luck October sleevers. :-)
  8. My surgery date was moved up. To Oct 26. I'm getting my Protein in. I have 2 shakes a day with non fat milk and that puts me at almost 70 grams right there. I'll typically have some sort of soft "mushy" food mid day. But I threw up after eating refried Beans yesterday. Guess I ate a tablespoon too much. Man this sucks. I don't even have the desire to eat much now bcuz it's uncomfortable. How have you been doing with Water? Getting better but have not had 64 oz to date. Hopefully soon.
  9. Hello all! I am 11 days post op and everything has gone as good as it could go I guess. Never had much pain, just soreness. Didn't take any pain meds once I was discharged. And have started going to the gym a few days ago. I've lost 20 lbs. as of 9 days post op appt. Happy about that, but that also includes pre op liquid diet for 2 days. My question is to those of you who have been sleeved, how long before you could eat and it not feel uncomfortable? How long before you coul ddrink without feeling uncomfortable as well? I can drink Water okay, just really slow, and I just want to be able to drink like a "normal" person. Haven't felt hungry at all yet. So wierd. And haven't felt full either, just uncomfortable (which I guess is the new "full sensation" post surgery). Any and all tips would be greatly appreciated. Oh what's a typical amount of food you can eat at 1 month, 3 months, etc? Thanks
  10. Thanks! I think the nausea was just overwhelming. Everytime I sat up I couldn't help it. 14 days til feeling normal? Seems like a long time. How do you drink your Water? I can't take mire than 3 sips without feeling wierd. Indigestion etc.
  11. Ok I am 2 days post op and man this was really an experience I'll never forget. Thanks everyone for the feedback. I too didn't experience so much "pain" but mostly soreness. Fir me the hardest thing to deal with is the gas AMD nausea. Man I threw up so much and worried about leaks. Everyte I sat up I felt sick to my stomach. But the medicine they switched me too has helped tremendously. Yesterday day 1 post op I felt so much better. Today however my "monthly visitor" decided to come a WEEK early and so Im dealing with cramps along with the soreness. Not fun. Lol but not unbearable. They wanted to release me today but I haven't taken in enough liquids. Just feels wierd. For those that have been sleeved already how long before you feel "normal" and can eat or drink without feeling sick?? Thanks for the positive words. I needed it. :-)
  12. Thanks both of you! So refreshing. The pain is what I was most afraid of. So excited!
  13. Good luck! That was my original surgery date . . .Nov 1st! Just got it moved up to tomorrow, 10/26. Good luck!
  14. Okay, so my original surgery date was next Monday, Nov 1st. But Friday I got a call from my surgeon's office letting me know that someone canceled and could I come in Tuesday Oct 26 (tomorrow!). I said yes! But now I'm like in shock. I only had to do a 2 day liquid diet and thought that would be difficult but I'm not even hungry. My nerves are so on edge . . . food (for the first time in a LONG) time is the least of my concerns. Just wanted to vent a little I guess and ask for any helpful hints and/or things I should bring/take or have at home before besides the usual things I know to have. So SCARED!! Please for those that have had it, the pain on a scale of 1 to 10?? What is it? Be BRUTALLY honest. I've had a c-section and had discomfort with that and of course contractions while going in labor, and I did NOT do well with that pain. Thanks! Pray for me! lol
  15. Good idea . . . but given the subject matter of this site. IT's kinda private . . . not for all of the "fb friends". I won't be integrating my profiles! lol
  16. Wow . . . that's amazing! Keep us updated on your progress. Can't wait til' I'm on the losers bench too. lol Congrats! :-)
  17. Just read all of the "new" replies to this thread. Thanks everyone for the encouraging words. I am young (27) and I have been told by so many of my family members you aren't even that "big" (take into account most of my family is overweight lol). So funny because I AM "morbidly obese". I know what they mean. I guess I don't look my weight. I carry it as "well" as I can, but the fact of the matter is that like so many of you have said I have tried to lose weight many times and have been successful at losing as much as 50 lbs. but then that's where it stops and then the lbs slowly but surely "reunite" where they came from. lol My mind is made up. One of my favorite quotes is "when in doubt, do without" but I think for something like this for anyone to just be 100% doubt LESS is virtually impossible. IT's a big step and I'm ready to take it. I have 52 more days to go and I remember when it was over 80 days. It's going by so fast. I'm looking forward to it and look forward to sharing my experiences, highs, lows and everything else in-between here on this forum. Thanks everyone :-)
  18. Ummm I wouldn't have recommended that? I haven't been "sleeved" but was under the impression that "soft" foods were introduced at 2-4 wks. I'd go to the dr if I was you.
  19. OMG I LOVE this forum/site. IT's the best! Everyone's input is greatly appreciated. I think Kaiser has prepared me well. I'm doing so good pre op that I know this sleeve will definitely be a success. I think my stomach is already "trained" at being content with smaller amounts of foods because I watch my portion control in a major way and literally log every single calorie I put in my mouth (gotta love iphone apps!) I already am prepared to wake up from my surgery full of regrets initially because I do NOT tolerate pain very well. But I'm sure I'll be just fine. I am 110% sure that I'm going to do this. And the more weight I lose pre op the more successful my surgery will be and the less I'll have to lose after. Thanks again everyone. Enjoy your long labor day wknd! :-)
  20. I hear you. I think that's what I feel too. I have done just about everything and been successful, but then of course I've also gained everything I've lost right on back. I think it's normal to feel afraid/scared/anxious. I think what makes it worse is this waiting period. The idle time makes me think about it even more. 2 whole months to wait and almost 9 plus months with this whole process altogether. But in the end it'll be worth it. I feel so much better now. I'm not the only one who feels like this, but I know I need to not have any doubts and just commit and succeed! :-)
  21. Thanks so much Carol. Your oppinion is very much appreciated. 1200-1400 calories is what I'm doing now on my "diet". Maybe I'm focusing too much on what people are eating immediately post op (500 calories a day). So what is a typical day for you (or any other post sleevers who read this) food wise? Breakfast lunch and dinner? Thanks so much! :-)
  22. Hello "sleevers", and "sleevers to be". I am scheduled to have my sleeve on November 1st. Exactly 2 months away with Dr Zane at Kaiser Harbor City and I am having major anxiety over this HUGE decision. I know most people here who view the forums are those that have already had the surgery, but I'm wondering if anyone actually just simply changed their mind and just lost weight on their own. Somebody? . . . Anybody? . . . lol One 1 hand it seems so unnatural, eating such small amounts of food for the rest of your life, not being able to drink large amounts of any liquids (Water included) at one time. But on the other hand of course there are quite a bit of benefits. I guess I am in the category of just simply being "morbid obese" but have no other medical issues (yet). But I'm able to go to the gym and work out so I kinda feel like if I Really put my mind to it I can do it. I have been going to the gym faithfully for the past month and have lost 23 lbs. this first month. IT's like as soon as I got my surgery date I got this high surge of motivation/energy out of nowhere to "prepare" for my surgery . . . that I don't know if I still want. Anybody else in the same boat?
