  1. First, congrats and welcome to bandland. As for gas, it just depends on the individual, just like our weight loss differs. Gas-X strips helped me as did warm packs.
  2. Angeleyes, you need to let your doc know about leaking all over the bed. If you are open that much you may be prone to infection in the site. Been there, done that.
  3. Thanks Kelly. Congrats Timnmitch!
  4. Congrats on the surgery. It will get better. You can use a heating pad on your chest and try Gas - X strips for the gas.
  5. So sorry for your loss Amanda. I saw the doc today and although she doesn't think the incision is infected she put me on another week of antibiotics. She also said I would not get an adjustment for another month in order for the incision to completely heal. I was banded Aug. 3 and have not had my first fill... but I am 40 lbs down.
  6. You can also use Gas-X strips to help get rid of the gas. Wishing you all the best.
  7. I had surgery on Aug 3. 10 days post op I woke up in a pool of Fluid. I had an "uncontrolled pop". They drained it more and put me on antibiotics. It healed. I went in for my first fill on Sept 15 and my port flipped. I had surgery for port revision on Sept. 27. A week later the incision started oozing. Back on antibiotics. Area around port incision is slightly swollen and red. Will see doc again on Wed. 40 lbs down despite everything.
  8. I was banded Aug. 3. About 10 days out had an "uncontrolled pop" of my port incision. Antibiotics helped it heal. I went for my first fill on Sept. 15 and found out my port had flipped. I had port revision surgery on Sept. 27. A week later and another "pop". Back on antibiotics. Scheduled for (hopefully) first fill on Wed. Still down 40 lbs and off a lot of medications.
  9. You may not be getting enough calories. If your body thinks you are starving then it hangs onto your fat reserve to protect you.
  10. Thanks Precious. Good luck to you also. There is another forum "August Rush in Bandland". YOu can find it under the post-op topic.
  11. There is another forum under Post-op that is called "August Rush in Bandland". There are quite a few bandsters who had surgery in August, including me.
  12. I have used the chocolate and vanilla with milk. I have used the chicken soup. I have used the unflavored in blended soup to increase the protein content. I like them. Just be careful when adding them to hot liquids because they will clump.
  13. Flieaway, there are some threads that are about successes. Just scroll on back in the pages until you find some.
  14. Just came from a support meeting. I enjoyed hearing from others, discussing what is working for you, etc. There were a couple of people considering surgery and few who were years out and maintaining. It's a tool. SJ (Ithink that is right), "everyone" at those meetings is either fat or was...
  15. Thanks msdv and spoiltmom!
  16. Hi! I just found this forum a few days ago and it has taken me this long to read through all the posts. I was banded August 3. My story is a little different than all of yours. About 10 days post-op I awoke lying in a pool of drainage. I had an "uncontrolled pop". :ohmy:I was started on antibiotics and it healed. I went in on Sept. 15th for my first fill. I didn't get it, my port had flipped. :ohmy:I had surgery on Sept. 27 for a port revision. Monday, Oct 4, my incision started oozing, then later I felt something "pop". :ohmy:Saw the surgeon yesterday and he thinks I popped a stitch on the inside loose. Put me on antibiotics again. I am scheduled to see him next Wed. for hopefully my first fill. In the meanwhile I am down 40 lbs since my pre-op visit. Bought smaller clothes.
  17. I'm a RN and I got mine yesterday.
  18. Chiildbirth and surgery as well as other things that stress our bodies can often lead to hair loss. There is a discussion about it on this site somewhere.
  19. Thanks. Unfortunately I am having more pain with this revision than I did with the original surgery. I am 8 days post op and I am still having a tiny bit of drainage also. How is it going for you?
  20. Thanks for the welcome Joyce. I didn't realize the town wouldn't show up. I am in Paola, well actually outside town in the country.
  21. Yes. he used mesh this time. Has yours flipped?
