I didn't waste them. I saved all 5 bags/cans in this 1 zip lock bag. Funny' date=' it doesn't look like 6500 calories could fit in there. I wonder if I could get 6500 calories of cheesecake in that bag.

I remember being kinda surprised when my NUT told me that chips were off limits forever. She called them a slider food, but not in the traditional ice cream sense. But rather because they crunch up so small in your sleeve and have so many calories and no nutritional value, something we all know.
But I have way too much time on my hands so I decided to do some experiments just to see how small they would crunch up. Keep in mind my big blender died suddenly last night from unnatural causes so I had to use my wife's small pulse blender. I'm betting the big blender would have chomped these chips up even finer.
First victim....11.5 ounce bag of everybody's favorite "macho man" nacho cheese Doritos. 1680 total calories, 84g fat, 192g carbs.
    From this...
    To this....

That's about 2.5 cups of chips. Not a lot. I doubt I could hold that much volume right now but I could eat it over the course of a day or 2. Certainly before my sleeve I could eat 2.5 cups of food no problem.

Normal to me, I lost about 10-15 in the first week. My guess is a lot of it is Water, especially because they fill you up with IV fluids in the hospital.

Drinking and driving is perfectly legal in this country. As long as you're not intoxicated.

Hello! My name is Brittany. I am a 25 year old mother of 2 beautiful girls, I work and am in graduate school. I had my surgery last year on 11/23/11 (the day before Thanksgining). It has been one of the best decisions of my life. I have been lurking on these boards since before I had surgery and have finally decided to stop being antisocial and join already! I glad to be a part of the group now!

With all the various "can I eat this" threads on VST, the thing I want to know is: will it hurt my sleeve - i.e. is there is technical reason it can't be eaten/drunk. I'm very aware of empty calories, etc. and the need to control that. If I thought that I could never have a beer again I'd be very very unhappy. If it won't hurt the sleeve, then why not once in a while?
BTW - pre-op I couldn't handle gassy beer anyway. I prefer softly carbonated ales.

O i was revised to the sleeve on monday the 27th. Thngs have been getting progressivly better with minor setbacks that have left me in the hospital until today, in fact i am going to digning my dc papers. I have been sooooo pleased with vcu health because they really put my health and safety in the forefront. I ahve a couple of issues that maybe some already sleeved can answer. I have been having pain in the center of my chest, kinda like heart pain. It is made worse when i take a deep breath. Thw doctors tested me for pulmonary embolism and heart condition and everything is perfect. I am chalking it up to gas pain but wanted to know if anyone else had experienced this. There is no leak as they have been testing. The Fluid from my drain and the pain is reallyo not severe so i convinced the dr to let me go home. I can honestly say that my pain rating throughout my stay never went above 2 and thats because i was out of bed and moving within 10 hours of surgery. And had great pain control. I did have low blood sugar once and after taking so sips of juice it corrected itself.
So i just got home and guess what i did....hopped on thw scale and low and behold i am 1 lb heavier than when i went in for surgery. Wtf...i wasnt expecting much but it has been 5 days since surgery and so surely i am not still retaning that much fluid.

I was drinking soda and beer 3mo out. I have no problem at all with carbonation. I'm losing about 10 lbs per month so it hasn't affected my weight loss.

The human stomach weighs around 2 pounds. They generally remove 85% of the stomach, right? That would mean they remove 1.7 pounds of stomach and it would now weigh .3 pounds (or 4.8 ounces).

Congrats! The portion of stomach they removed doesn't weight to much. The 9 lbs u lost is mostly all the IV fluids they pumped you full of. Lol. Wish you the best. !

I ministered in the Bronx long ago. A kid from the church offered to show me Manhattan. He was a bicycle messenger and had lived there his entire life.
I was fascinated at how he moved us around on the subway system. I also realized that I would be quite lost without him.
He represented wisdom. He knew the trains.
Life is like the subway system. Lots of trains show up. Take the wrong one and you waste time and engender frustration. Take the wise one and you get where you want to go.
Many folks have made it possible for us to get on the right train. They supply us the wisdom.
We have to supply the self-control to follow their advice.
Impulse must take a back-seat to overall welfare.

I'm 4 days post op and the desire for solid Protein is driving me crazy. Today, I was travelling back to California. In the airport I ordered chicken noodle Soup. I only drank the broth. But I took a few dime size pieces of chicken, chewed them like crazy and ate them. No arguments from my sleeve. It was so satisfying. Should I be concerned?

No it shouldn't harm you BUT make sure you DO NOT cheat anymore because there's a reason your doctor has you going through phases. The stomach is healing which is why u have to ease into foods. The more u eat that isn't liquids the more your stomach will churn and cause pressure which can cause a leak. And that is something you don't want. You'll be in the hospital for a few months. I'm a month out n on soft foods. I completely understand because just a few weeks ago I felt tha same way! Just hang in there! You'll be on soft foods before you know it. just make sure to get all your Protein n fluids in. good luck. !

The reason that I got sleeved is because there are no food restrictions. I'm only 47 years old and don't want to live the rest of my life feeling deprived. I love to eat an I love food. My problem is that I have no off switch. My goal is to be able to eat small portions of whatever I want. I know there are ppl on VST who are doing that. I hope that I can be one of them.

7 almost 8 months out and I can eat anything I want. I don't drink soda and only use 1% milk. Early out there were things that irritated my sleeve but now I can pretty much eat anything with no problem in small quantities.
