Randgalt got a reaction from Sleeved&Hopeful in Been Reading Some Other Wls Forums.. What's The Deal?I just can't imagine why someone would want to suffer with a bypass when VSG is an option. In the worst case, VSG can be revised into a bypass. It's a no-brainer.

Randgalt reacted to Rootman in Vet Sleevers Question....about Feeling FullI'm the same as TexasT above. I get a normal full feeling and after more get REAL uncomfortable and I suppose after that I WOULD get sick but have not pushed it that far. It's been this way for a few mmonths for me, prior to this I would get real naseaus real fast. The AMOUNT that I get full from is far, far smaller than it used to be. It WILL take some control after you reach this point but the control is much easier, I used to just lust after food constantly, now I just get a bit peckish and it only takes a few bites to satisfy.

Randgalt reacted to Butterthebean in CravingsHang in there Amanda. For me it got better as soon as I started eating soft foods.
I'm not condoning this, but when I was on full liquids I licked the flavoring off of 5 wheat thins. My God it was good, and I was satisfied. My dog ate the freshly licked wheat thins and she was happy too.

Randgalt reacted to Butterthebean in Nsv For The GuysSomething strange happened tonight. I sitting here reading and I have an itch on my chest. I go to scratch it and something feels weird. Like not quite what my hand was expecting. After a minute I figure it out.....my man boobs are gone. WTH??? My wife said she noticed several weeks ago. She says they've been replaced by something called pecs. They are firm and flat and right where my man boobs used to be. Any of you other guys have this.....side effect? My Dr. Didn't warn me about this.

Sugar Free jello, SF pudding are a couple. I used to hate it also till I found a flavor I liked. You might want to try plain doctored up or a flavored one.

When I started this journey, I set in my mind that I would consider the sleeve a success if I got under, and maintained under 200# within the first year of surgery. Well, I am just over 8 months out, and am now seeing "1" as the first number on the scale. I have not been under 200# since the late 1980s!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG, it is hard to believe I am finally here. I never got under 200# when I was banded - and I had that band for 10 years!!! The sleeve really does work.
I attached a photo from 2 days ago - and one from a month or two preop. When I showed my son the before photo, he was shocked, he didn't remember me being so big. It shocks me too, so I get it.

Randgalt reacted to kijohns3 in Over 4 Months OutOk....I had surgery on 4/24/12 and have now lost 81lb since pre-op diet. I still have 56lb to go. I started at 297 and am now 216. I am 5'8". I started at a 24 and am now wearing a 16. I have been in a stall for the last 2 weeks with minimal inches lost as well (1/2 inch off hips only.) However, I have not been to the gym in the last 2 weeks due to shcool starting and all of that stress. I will be going tomorrow and resuming my 4-5 times per week. Hopefully I will start to loose again. I get about 800-1000 cal per day. I was really hoping to get down to under 200lb before our vacation at the end of the month, but I am thinking that I will probably not happen. I have not had any complications and have a sleeve of steel that tolerates everything. I don't eat everything though.

Randgalt reacted to Nate in Losing Too Fast?Yes it's normal. Like CO said, It's mostly water that you're going to lose the first week or so. You're doing just fine don't worry!
-
Randgalt reacted to COsleeveDude in Losing Too Fast?Normal to me, I lost about 10-15 in the first week. My guess is a lot of it is water, especially because they fill you up with IV fluids in the hospital.

Randgalt reacted to BrittanyLayne05 in 9 Months Post Op And New To The Boards!Hello! My name is Brittany. I am a 25 year old mother of 2 beautiful girls, I work and am in graduate school. I had my surgery last year on 11/23/11 (the day before Thanksgining). It has been one of the best decisions of my life. I have been lurking on these boards since before I had surgery and have finally decided to stop being antisocial and join already! I glad to be a part of the group now!

Randgalt reacted to bandita in Day 5 Post OpO i was revised to the sleeve on monday the 27th. Thngs have been getting progressivly better with minor setbacks that have left me in the hospital until today, in fact i am going to digning my dc papers. I have been sooooo pleased with vcu health because they really put my health and safety in the forefront. I ahve a couple of issues that maybe some already sleeved can answer. I have been having pain in the center of my chest, kinda like heart pain. It is made worse when i take a deep breath. Thw doctors tested me for pulmonary embolism and heart condition and everything is perfect. I am chalking it up to gas pain but wanted to know if anyone else had experienced this. There is no leak as they have been testing. The fluid from my drain and the pain is reallyo not severe so i convinced the dr to let me go home. I can honestly say that my pain rating throughout my stay never went above 2 and thats because i was out of bed and moving within 10 hours of surgery. And had great pain control. I did have low blood sugar once and after taking so sips of juice it corrected itself.
So i just got home and guess what i did....hopped on thw scale and low and behold i am 1 lb heavier than when i went in for surgery. Wtf...i wasnt expecting much but it has been 5 days since surgery and so surely i am not still retaning that much fluid.

Randgalt reacted to sleeve 4 me in Fist Time On The Scale Post-OpMy surgeon said it's so little compared to how much we lose from doing the surgery. Best wishes and congrats!
-
Randgalt reacted to gustavo52974 in Fist Time On The Scale Post-OpThe human stomach weighs around 2 pounds. They generally remove 85% of the stomach, right? That would mean they remove 1.7 pounds of stomach and it would now weigh .3 pounds (or 4.8 ounces).
-
Randgalt reacted to Piplula in Fist Time On The Scale Post-OpWait until you're almost 5 months out like me..down 91# ..it blows your mind and the minds of those around you!
-
Randgalt reacted to GiiNaGiiNa408 in Fist Time On The Scale Post-OpCongrats! The portion of stomach they removed doesn't weight to much. The 9 lbs u lost is mostly all the IV fluids they pumped you full of. Lol. Wish you the best. !
•Highest Weight - 240 •Surgery Weight 8/3 -230 •Current Weight 8/31 -203

Randgalt reacted to gmanbat in A Small Cheat - Is It Very Bad?I ministered in the Bronx long ago. A kid from the church offered to show me Manhattan. He was a bicycle messenger and had lived there his entire life.
I was fascinated at how he moved us around on the subway system. I also realized that I would be quite lost without him.
He represented wisdom. He knew the trains.
Life is like the subway system. Lots of trains show up. Take the wrong one and you waste time and engender frustration. Take the wise one and you get where you want to go.
Many folks have made it possible for us to get on the right train. They supply us the wisdom.
We have to supply the self-control to follow their advice.
Impulse must take a back-seat to overall welfare.
