  1. I was banded on 12/10. I have also had a weird pain near my port. My nurse said everyone experiences different pains. They come and go. It's all a part of the healing process. Mine is when I drink too fast. Or if I walk too much. But, it's going away. I just say my stomach is still pissed at me :-) Good Luck! If it makes you nervous call your dr.
  2. Hi guys! I have also been feeling discouraged... but here's what the sensible side of me thinks! I was banded on 12/10. We are all in this for the long haul. I think we all probably know lots of people who have had gastric bypass and they lose 30 lbs in the first month! But, that's not the road I/we chose. I wanted the band because it seemed more reasonable, more safe. I too have had my first fill last week. I got 1.5 cc. At first he did 2 then backed out 1/2 because the water wouldn't go down like he wanted it to. My nurse keeps telling me to relax. She keeps saying it takes time. I have been hungry, but mostly mentally. I do feel some restriction. I definitely couldn't eat a value meal! haha! So, even though I want it to be more I think THAT right there is a reason to celebrate! So, why am I still annoyed? Because I'm picking. It's hard when you have small kids in the house. Each day I do great until the kids come home from school then I pick. Okay, I need to work on that. I am really glad you posted this. I really needed some support also. i got it just by reading this thread and seeing that I am not the only one going through this. But, the truth is that we are all in this for the long haul, right????? I'm down about 12 lbs. But, I can tell that I am smaller. i think the protein is building muscle mass and we all know that muscle weighs more than fat. Does this make sense or am I crazy???
  3. I found the ones at costco are great. 150 calories for 11 oz and 30 grams of Protein. I think it's like 2 sugars or something. it comes in chocolate and it tastes good. I wish I could find a good vanilla. Not big on so much choc!
  4. that's awesome! Can't wait to leave the 20's... :-)
  5. Hi J! Your user name is hilarious... I am cracking up laughing out loud :-) I had my surgery on Dec 10th. The first week was rough for me. I have my hands full with my kids so that made it worse. My husband was great though! Hats off to him. I am 2 1/2 weeks out and I feel a million times better. Swelling is gone, starting to walk, stitches are still in but bandages are off. Things are looking good. Don't be in a hurry to re-coop. Take your time! I did alot of laziness! Something I don't normally do too much. Feel free to message me if you have questions! Congrats to us! 2011 will be a great year......
  6. I lost 7 lbs in week 2! But week one I was up about 6 from the surgery from being swollen. So I had to lose that and then lost the 7. It takes a while for the swelling. I was banded on the 10th.....

  8. I was banded on Dec 10th! I was miserable all last week. The first 3 days were rough and then it got better. The soreness is temporary and you just have to remind yourself that soreness goes away! I was banded on a Friday. On Tuesday I had some MAJOR impacted bowels! YUCK! Now my dr has me on Colace. I also ended up with a sinus infection and had a bad cough. Not what you want with stitches. I feel better now. tummy is still a little sore but am going to the dr today to get my stitches out... except the one where the port is. I think that will help because they itch and sting. I have also noticed a small knot under on of the stitches. I don't know what that is. I have to call the doctor. I have gone down 8 lbs since my surgery! I am thrilled at that because I didn't expect to really lose until my adjustments started. I get to introduce Proteins on Thursday! Yeah! The liquid diet is started to annoy me. Maybe it's the hollidays... don't know. All in all I'm pretty please so far. I also itched from Morphine from a past surgery. And it didn't work for the pain. So, now I tell the dr I am allergic and they don't give it to me. You are probably having an allergic reaction to it and may want to let your primary care dr know. Good luck everyone!
  9. I think we are all going through that eat more issue. I would imagine it's normal. I am much more aware of what I'm supposed to be doing now though. I am working slowly into that mode! My dr. took me off my hormones which makes me ccccrraaaazzzyyyy! wooooo... one day at a time!
  10. Thanks BB! Dr. Wizman is awesome. Very funny and very straightforward. We spent a very long time just talking with everyone on staff. In fact, they pushed back my surgery by a week because he will be in Malaysia. He is training a group of surgeons there to do the procedure.... So, he must be on the ball. I am looking forward to the next year! I am set for December 10th. Your info really made a difference for me.. thanks
  11. I am having my surgery in December also. I was originally set for the 3rd but they may have to r/s me to the 10th. Either way, I'm fine. I am just going through the motions of getting all my ducks in a row. I am nervous and anxious! I could send myself into a tizzy if I over-analyze all of the things I can't do after the surgery.... but, I'm not going to think about all of that! In trying to mentally prepare myself I have to remind myself to not over analyze! I have been considering surgery off and on for a few years now. I met a woman this summer who was banded 9 yrs ago! She is a healthy weight and i would have never known if she hadn't told me. WOW! I thought to myself, "What are you doing? Get going girl!" So, a few months later here I am. Best of luck to all the December Babies!
  12. WOW! Thanks for the motivation.... I am having my surgery in December and I am around 280 (depending on the day and the scale ... LOL). I was happy to read your post. How funny that you mentioned crossing your legs again. Now and then i catch myself realizing that I may be able to do "this" or "that" or shop in "that store", etc. I try to keep those to a minimum for now and focus on what I have to do before and after surgery! But, I have never even thought about crossing my legs... haha! Now, I have a big smile on my face... Very Very happy for your successful journey! Onederville is one place I plan to travel to in the next 2 yrs! YES!
  13. Hi all! I am new to the website. I am scheduled for my surgery in December. My goal is to lose around 100 to 110 lbs. I have to say I am overwhelmed with anxiety right now! My gyn and my primary care doctor are very enthusiastic about me having the band. They both feel that I will do really well with it. I have been overweight my whole life and have weighed over 200lbs my whole adult life. I am steady about following through with what my doctor and my PC are having me do. I am trying not to over analyze it too much. I look at the list of everything I can't have... YIKES ... LOL! No soda, no alcohol, stop smoking.... gees! I guess I'll start knawing on a stump for my coping mechanism! I am completely in tune with WHY I am overweight. I have a very unhealthy relationship with food. How does that go away? I read posts with people who really struggle and then I have a friend who was banded 9 yrs ago and she said the obsession just went away! ?????? Sorry for rambling but I really need to vent and would love some feedback  PS... did I mention I'm self pay?
  14. Thanks for the info on Dr. Wizman. I have been to two seminars and have decided to go with the band. I am in North Fla and the prices range from $14k to $20k. I am self pay. i just spoke with Wizman's office and she quoted me that they start at $10k for the procedure to be done at a day surgery center. i am in good health and have had laproscoptic surgery for other reasons in the past. I have also had 3 c-sections. So, I feel good about having it done out patient. In fact, my ob/gyn recommended this to me. I just have to check with my PCP for the pre-op testing. i think my insurance will cover that. I have no problems with a quick trip to South Fla! I hope this info helps anyone else looking for better costs. My gyn was the one who told me to keep looking for a more affordable option.
