  3. Welcome and good luck!
  4. Just wanted to stop by and say welcome! Please keep us posted as your continue with your journey.
  5. I have Anthem BCBS and they require a BMI of 40, period. So I decided to gain 8 lbs to get to the 40 BMI to have the surgery. I figured I was going to gain the 8 lbs down the road anyway so it wasn't a big deal to me. So you have to weigh your options. Start by calling your insurance and telling them your story and see what they say. It varies so much that not a lot of people can help. Just don't give up!
  6. My surgery was the 11th too. :] I wish you luck in your journey and a super speedy recovery!!
  7. I'm 7 days post-op and days 2-5 were horrible for me. I had the worst gas pains that I couldn't get rid of. I don't have a heating pad so I wasn't able to try that ... but walking and Gas-X didn't help. I still have a spasm in my esophagus that's painful but it's slowly becoming less frequent. I feel pretty darn good today! It'll happen guys, hang in there!
  8. Welcome and congrats on the run! Keep us updated on your journey.
  9. A thread is the start of a topic. You started the thread "Hi, I'm new at this" and has become a topic that the public can read and post replies to. Our replies are posts on your thread. You can start threads of any related topic you want. If you have a question about pre-op appointments, you may want to start a thread about that, for example. Does that help any or am I just rambling?
  10. Welcome! Keep us updated!
  11. Welcome! LBT is the best and most supportive board out there that I've been on so you've come to the right place! You're among friends and band family now so settle in and get comfy. Be sure to update us on your journey as it progresses.
  12. Welcome and congrats and making a great decision! Feel free to ask questions whenever you need! We're mostly all here to help. :wink2: Keep us all informed on your journey!
  13. You're not alone. I was banded on the 11th and I had awful, awful gas pain until about the 5th day. I still had some today but it is bearable. I walked and sipped and walked and walked and walked. I took Gas X strips and that did nothing. I took the chewables and that did nothing. So just hang in there... it does get better!
  14. Welcome and congrats on the decision to add an exciting, new chapter to your life! Please keep us updated how you're doing in your journey. :] This is truly the best support group out there.
  15. I'm sure you've all ready joined us on the loser's bench but good luck! I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery!
  16. Praying that you have a speedy recovery!!
  17. I had my surgery on October 11th and my gas pains are just now starting to go away. They're still there and still kicking my butt... but apparently everyone is right and slow and surely it does it get better! I'm keeping you in my thoughts for a quick recovery!
  18. I worried myself sick the night before and the morning of. I was pretty much crying inside as they wheeled me to the OR. But, honestly, it was quick and easy! You'll do great!
  19. I am wrapping up day three, post op... and I'll tell you that gas pain is no joke. I have a high tolerance for pain, but this is an annoying, uncomfortable, DEEP pain. It's hard to describe but it's awful. I've been walking my butt off and popping Gas X strips when I can and nothing is really helping much. The narcotic nasal spray my surgeon prescribed just makes me very tired so I'm not taking it. Hopefully it'll subside for us soon!! I'm praying for ya.
  20. Sorry but I'm on day three and infection free!
  21. Hey all you Bootiful Bandsters! I'm on day 3 post-op. I still have a clear liquid diet until Monday and the gas pains are killing me. I've taken Gas X strips with no relief. Today it is a bit better but goodness. It's no joke. I've been slowly eating a Jello cup because I'm afraid I'll get full and think it's an awful gas pain and keep eating. Does the new full feeling feel like the old full feeling? I still haven't felt it. Anyway, I'm glad everyone is doing well! I can't WAIT for full liquids next week!!
  22. Hey there. I was just banded Monday and I, too, am on a clear liquid diet... which I have been on since October 4th. It's getting a little old! I tend to just stick to Jello, chicken base, and sugar free tropical popsicles. What else is there, really? I start back to work on Sunday and I'm on my feet all day, running around ...so that should be quite interesting! Feel free to PM me if you ever wanna chat! Amy
  23. I would love to join you. I am currently in the hospital from getting banded this morning. so if you don't mind me being a bit slow in the cardio front, I'd be thrilled. I'd like to be at 199lb which is a loss of 31lbs as of this morning.
  24. Well guys...I'm currently sitting in my hospital bed, watching movies with me husband. Surgery was at 745am and I remember opening my eyes in recovery at 945am. I think the operation took about an hour. The hospital doesn't have wifi so I on my phone typing to you guys. I'll post more when I get home tomorrow afternoon.
  25. My surgery is tomorrow too! 730am. I am also a bit nervous but I'm sure I'll be a wreck as they wheel me away from my family and towards the OR. We can do this guys! Here's too 10/11/10 bandsters!! God bless.
