  1. Hi, I'm new here and making the first step toward lap-band® surgery -- educating myself. I'm wife to a Marine and we have 3 children ranging from 11-17 years old. We live in a suburb of Philadelphia. I first looked into this a couple of years ago and got scared with all the surgery safety warnings. Then I started seriously considering getting banded a little less than a year ago. I talked myself out of it and decided to be really serious about re-joining weight watchers. Since then I've had the diagnosis of osteoarthritis with torn menisci in both knees and I've fallen off the wagon on both my super-serious attempts with weight watchers. Sigh. I think it's time to do something more drastic. So, there you have it. That's my mindset right now. I'm really glad to be learning so much from this forum and know I'll have lots of questions. Deborah
