Time off work?
I had my surgery on a Tuesday, and went back the following Thursday. I have a moderately heavy job (standing 10-12 hours a day as a Veterinary Technician, and lifting animals) and only ended up working 1/2 the day, as I was exhausted. The Friday went much better, and after the weekend, I was pretty much back to normal. I had 9 days off officially.

North Florida, South Georgia Surgeon for 10,000 or under??
Not sure if you are willing to go up a little or a little further in distance, but Dr. Domkowski in Sebastian Fl. (about 3 1/2 hours from you) does both the Lap-Band® or the Sleeve for $12,500 inclusive, including a year of fills a follow up. Great staff, and he is very very nice, with a very empathetic attitude and great bedside manner. The Cost - Riverside Surgical and Weight Loss Center

Just set up our Kinect! Time to get movin'!
Well, just watching my husband doing the 30 minute fitness test on the Biggest Looser game, and he is panting. Bob keeps asking how he is doing, as there is voice command, and if you are having a problem, you can just say so. There is a little camera / topographical version of him on the screen, and if he doesn't do the exercise right, he gets told! Pretty cool really.

It was cute for the first little bit, but then I didn't want to see them anymore. :frown:

My hair....
Sorry to hear that Molly :frown: In the booklet from my Nutritionist, it says; "If Protein intake is meeting the minimum recommended guidelines and hair loss continues to be bothersome, you can try supplements with ZINC (no more than 50 mg per day). Ongoing hair loss can also be a sign of iron-deficiency anemia. Please consult your surgeon."

Just set up our Kinect! Time to get movin'!
Maria - that was a VERY fake cough.. There seem to be a few console / packages that come with the Kinect, but it you are interested in getting it, may want to get it sooner rather then later with Christmas (wince) coming up fast. Tn girl - did you turn the pictures off for the games? After the first few funny ones, I didn't want to see myself anymore. :frown:/

Just set up our Kinect! Time to get movin'!
So far, playing with it has been lots of fun. The adventures game is pretty good and has you up and moving a lot. Biggest Looser is supposed to be arriving today, but am VERY excited for the Zumba one. I'm too self conscious to go to classes, but the game seems like a fun way to get into it. :frown: Elfie - Nope, no little boards to balance on. Its a camera that recognizes and tracks your movement, and seems to do it very well. I'm interested to see what the other games can do. With the Biggest Looser one, it recognizes you when you get in front of the camera and customizes your workout. I can wait to try it! Come on UPS!!

Just set up our Kinect! Time to get movin'!
Well, got the Kinect for the Xbox 360 today. Looks like its going to be a lot of fun, and a GREAT way to get up and moving. The game that came with it, has you up and jumping, and all over the place. Lots of fun so far. Have a Biggest Loser Ultimate workout arriving tomorrow, and the Zumba game will be delivered when it comes out. That one I'm REALLY looking forward to! :frown:

Pain assoc with too much food..remedy?
If you are still sore and uncomfortable this morning, take it easy on food today as well. Might want to do 24 hours of liguids/mushies just to give yourself a chance to heal, as you can get some swelling. When I'm craving a drink after a meal, I generally chew some gum or suck on sugar-free candy.. last week accidentally swallowed a candy... and did THAT EVER HURT!! Ended up drinking some hot tea just to get it to dissolve and pass, but I could feel the sharp edges in the opening.. Finally went though, but was sore the next day. Did a day of liquids/mushies, and felt much better.. Was definitely swollen after that...

Band sizes, whats the difference?
I also was banded on August 31st and have a 14cc band. I only had 0.5 cc left in the band after surgery, so no restriction at first. !st fill was 3 mls 3 weeks later.. nothing.. 2nd fill 2mls another 3 weeks later. I had my 3rd fill last Wednesday (6 days ago), another 2 mls, and for the first 2 days, nothing, them BAM, almost restriction over the weekend, and ever since. So I'm at a total of 7.5 cc's and almost have restriction, and now feel that I DO have a band. 4th fill is scheduled for the 17th of Nov. I know a lot of people get frustrated at not getting restriction right away, but I looked at it, (or tried to) with the attitude, I didn't get this weight overnight, and its not going to come off overnight. I may have had larger portions, but I didn't get hungry again right away (so didn't snack), and did my best to make good decisions. I will say that chewing tons, and eating slowly makes it that much easier at this stage, and no stuck, sliming, PBing episodes so far.

Vitamuffins?
Just a question regarding Vitamuffins... I have eaten these for years, and love them, but have not eaten them since banding. Does anyone else have them on a semi-regular basis? Do they keep you full? Thank you! :smile2: The sugar free ones are now readily available where I am, and the nutritionals are: Cal - 90; Fat - 2g; Total Carb - 23g; Fiber - 9g; Protein - 4g; plus 50% total Vitamins for the day. (And they are delicious!!!!!!!!!) :wink2:

Need Fill in Brevard Co. Florida
Well, after a quick look, I did manage to find Dr. Velarde. He seems to now be with the Brevard Specialty Surgery Center. Website is: Brevard Specialty Surgery Center, LLC, An ASCOA Center . You can scroll down to double check that it is the same Dr. but it does say that he does WLS. His phone number is listed there too.

Need Fill in Brevard Co. Florida
Sorry to take so long to reply, but I just saw your post. I was banded by Dr. Domkowski in Sebastian, and he is a great doctor. He has an excellent bedside manner and is very nice and compassionate. I know he does take over fills from other doctors as well. I don't know what he charges for fills as I am covered for the first year of fills. The reception and front staff is also very very nice. I guess there was a doctor in Melbourne that is no longer doing fills or any other bariatrics, so I know Dr. D has taken over a lot of those cases. He doesn't use fluoro for the fills, but is great with getting the needle into the port painlessly and quickly. The website is Riverside Surgical and Weight Loss Center and the phone number is 772.581.8003. Take care and good luck! Regan

Vitamin Water Zero
The one thing that I noticed with the Vitamin Water vs. Crystal Light, is the fact that Vitamin Water has 4 g carbs per serving, and Crystal Light has none. So with 2.5 servings in a bottle of Vitamin Water, you have 10 g of carbs per bottle. It may have 0 calories, but I don't want the extra carbs..
