  1. I've always said that if after losing weight some guy that knew me when I was bigger tries getting with me it would be a nono because if they weren't into me when I was big then I don't want them.
  2. I appreciate your opinion, however, I had my surgery done when I was 21 and have been overweight since I was 9 years old. I think getting the band when you are younger is way better then to wait until you're older. I would yo yo diet all of the time and never seemed to get anywhere. I'm totally for younger people getting the band to save their life early.
  3. Nope. Not unless they thought it in their head and didn't say anything. But I've dated more guys in the past year then in my whole lifetime. Funny how things change when you lose a couple of pounds.
  4. I have been up front about it with every guy that I've dated since banding. If they don't like it then they can beat it!
  5. Drinking is easy for me. Can't really handle the carbonation. I stick to a lot of wines. But I warn you that if you do drink, it will slow down your weight loss. I learned the hard way.:frown:
  6. They have cordless? Damn that cord really gets on my nerves. I've never seen one. Any ideas where I might find one?
  7. It's possible to leak at times. I never have but I hear it's common in more people than you would think. My mom is also banded and had a lot of leakage in the beginning. If you have problems with it in the future, you might ask to be put on omnipaque which will be a thicker solution that won't leak. Good luck to you :-)
  8. I'm about 14 month post-op and I didn't get some restriction until I was up to 3.75cc in my 4 cc band. I got a fill on Decebmber 21 and he actually brought me up to 4.25cc. The small bands can hold 5 cc but maybe not every doctor will fill you past 4. How much fill do you have right now PigsRFlying?
  9. Fairy! You read my mind. I'm on my 2nd because I broke the first one, maybe from using it way too much? HAHA!
  10. Hey Charly, congrats on your success thus far. I couldn't be happier about what Lapband has done for me both physically and mentally. Why don't you pick up a hobby? I've been reading a very good book that I borrowed from a friend that Khalia Ali wrote about her journey with Lapband. I really enjoy reading Lapband books especially from people who actually have been though it, not doctors. I'm sure a lot of people would kill to have too much time :rolleyes2: I hope this helps and best of luck to you!
  11. There is a gentleman in my support group meeting here in Houston that has done very well with his band. He's lost 130+ pounds. Recently he found out that his band had eroded. He's not even 2 years post op and already eroded? Is that way too early?
  12. I got a fill in July right before I left for Aruba and was very tight for a couple of days after flying. It could have just been the swelling from the fill, but my mom was tight as well.
  13. Sabrina, you will be amazed at the attention you start getting from guys that you thought might never be possible. I never dated back when I was 300+ pounds, but since losing the weight, I've dated here and there. I see it as "practice dating" because I never got to experience it before. I know my prince charming is out there somewhere...
  14. Hey everyone. My name is Melissa from Houston, TX. I was banded November 28, 2006 and I have lost 76 lbs so far. I work full tiime as a Bank Manager for a locally owned bank. I'm single and enjoy meeting and making new friends.
  15. APRIL 2007- DOWN ABOUT 40 LBS DECEMBER 2007-DOWN 70 LBS
  16. I would love love love to meet someone with Lapband. I think it would be great to share that common interest.
  17. I thought the same thing. Trust me you will get there. Your band can hold more than 4 cc. Talk to your doctor. I have 4.25cc in my 4cc band.
  18. I didn't feel any good restriction until 3.75cc. I'm now at 4.25 in a 4 cc band. The 4 cc band can hold up to 5 cc. Everyone is different. Some people may feel major restriction at only 1.3cc and some (like me) don't feel it until close to maximum. Good luck!
  19. Ok who told you what you were going to lose in the first 1 or 2 weeks? Because after surgery and before your first fill is the healing time. Don't expect to lose weight so quickly just because that's you were told. Everyone loses at different rates and some people don't really lose weight until after their first fill.
  20. How is 2-3 lbs weight loss a week slow? What do you expect to lose per week?
  21. Ahhh being banded in the twenties....Any single people out there?
  22. That is the weirdest place to have a port. Why in your chest?
  23. I had a fill less than a week before going to Aruba and did just fine. Everyone is different. But you will find that flying will make your band tight.
  24. John is in a rehabilitation center. He's doing a lot better. I miss him :cry
  25. His mother has his cell phone for now. I spoke to her last night. She said she would have it on her at all times.
