  1. Ok, I was banded November 2006 at 300 lbs and lost 80 lbs. Well here I am now up to 290 and it is just depressing. I feel no restriction but yet the doctor says im completely filled to the max. I'm really interested in getting the sleeve because I've heard a lot of good things about it versus the band. I was self pay for the lapband and am getting married so will probably try to see if my husbands insurance will cover the revision since I was self pay. Anyone know anything about insurance companies and revisions? He has aetna insurance. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
  2. Well I've lost 4 lbs in 3 days. I think it works pretty good. I've known several people who it continues to work for atleast a year. It just depends on the person. It works different for everyone.
  3. I have never had a leak. I've gone to 2 different fill doctors and they both have told me I'm filled to the max. Actually I'm at 4.25cc in a 4 cc band. The elasticity of the band allows you to have more fill than it's made for. I just haven't been back because the 2nd doctor was very negative towards me and told me I would never lose more than 100 lbs and it really upset me. I've known several people who have lost more but the trick is keeping it off. That's the hardest part ever.
  4. I've taken several diet pills in my day. Ephedra mostly. I'm used to that shaky feeling. My band is filled to the max and I'm not dialated. I can eat anything. I never get stuck or throw up.
  5. I initally lost 80 lbs with the band and have gained 40 lbs back over the course of about a year. I'm starting on Phentermine tomorrow to see how well it works for me. I've never been on Phentermine before but anxious to see what it does for me.
  6. Well, I've been banded since November 2006 and initially lost 80 lbs. I've since gained 40 lbs back and am pretty much fed up with the band. I'm starting on phentermine tomorrow to get to my goal weight. I've heard lots of good things about it and it's better than getting back to the weight I started at. Anyone ever take phentermine?
  7. I heard that Dr. Stephanie didn't do fills under fluro. Good to hear she is now. I desperately need my band checked up. I may be dialated. I'm currently filled to the max in my band and have no more room left for a fill.
  8. The doctor he was going to was supposedly a "liver specialist" but he acted like he didn't know anything so he has to find a new doctor. They wanted to do a colonoscopy and wanted $1,000 up front to do it.
  9. Hey Candace. I used to post on this board a lot back when I was single and thought the exact way you did. I had to date a lot of duds but finally found my soulmate on an internet dating website. I wish you all the luck in the world and you will find someone who can accept you for you.
  10. I'm a little worried that I'm pregnant. Does anyone take Loestrin 24 or know anyone that has? I just got on the pill a month ago and I'm on my 2nd day of inactive pills and no period yet.... Should I be worried?
  11. This can be a good and bad thing. I've felt "nauseous" and having that feeling that I need to throw up, then nothing will come, just dry heaving. With the lapband you can't physically vomit because your band won't allow anything to come back up through it that has already made it in the lower part of the stomach. It's a terrible feeling but for me, the dry heaves only last a couple of minutes and the feeling is then gone. Hope this helps.
  12. Ya I never got hit on. Everytime me and friends would go out, they would get hit on even when I lost weight. I don't get it!
  13. Just because you're big doesn't mean you can't be attractive. Even at my heaviest, I never felt or acted like I was ugly but now that I've lost the weight I feel even sexier than ever!
  14. I'm sorry to hear that. I've gained a little back as well and trying to get back on track. I find you attractive even being big so keep your head up.
  15. I would have to say me and my bf get along pretty good too. We just love spending time together and it seems we never want to be apart. Men can sometimes be just as confusing as women. He's actually looking to go to another doctor because he doesn't like the one he's going to. On the bottom of his leg he has these brown spots that look like liver spots and he showed his doctor and the doctor said "what is that? a rash?" I'm like what?
  16. Good, he has to go back to the liver specialist and have more tests run on the 24th. How are you and your bf? Has he opened up a little more?
  17. Good for you. I hope to get there one day. But I've been banded almost 2 years on November 28:frown:
  18. Weird, when I went in to get a fill back in March. I was filled completely at 4 cc and they still were able to add .25cc making it a total of 4.25cc and it was trickling down slowly. But now it's like I can eat whatever and however much I want. I don't have any issues with reflux ever, I just don't understand why I can have so much fluid in my band and no restriction.
  19. I do find that cranberry juice helps with the pain but does it really get rid of infection?
  20. I too myself have had uti's lately. I just started having sex in June of this year. I've had 2 uti's in the course of 2 months. I just got done taking levaquin (3 days worth) and it's still not gone. I had to beg my doctor to call in a different antibiotic so that hopefully it will work for me. I don't understand. My mom, aunt, and grandma have always had issues with them and I guess I'm just following right behind them.
  21. Thank you so much Denise and Apple for your prayers and for being here for me on this board. It means a lot to me. Best of luck to all of you and I will definately let him know about the milk thistle. Is it a pill or liquid form? And do you find it with the vitamins?
  22. Yes you can stretch your pouch from overeating, same with any kind of weight loss surgery.I'm filled to the maximum capacity in my band. I can eat more than I should, I have not been to the doctor because my doctor retired over a year ago. Fortunately you can shrink your pouch with a liquid diet as with the gastric bypass you can't because it's more permanent.
  23. Oh wow, sorry to hear that. What happened to your liver? Is it enlarged? He went this morning, and all they did was more blood work and the doctor said he'd call him in the next 2 weeks after he looks at his ultrasound and blood samples. 2 weeks?
  24. I'm trying to go on a liquid/mushie diet for a few days to shrink my pouch, I think I may have stretched it. Yesterday Breakfast- 8oz instant coffee with sugar free hazlenut creamer Snack-Vivanno chocolate and banana smoothie from Starbucks Lunch-1 can of cream of brocolli soup Dinner-1 can of refried beans with low fat shredded cheese and 1 tablespoon of sour cream 1,065 calories total
