OTC Sleeping Pills
I have had sleep issues for at least 13 years and have experimented with just about everything on the OTC and prescription market. I hate the feeling I have from prescription and the cost so i quit those a longtime ago. I have always used a variety of things and never the same one for any length of time. The OTC Tylenol PM, Advil PM and Excedrine PM are all basically the same but have different amounts of the active ingredient. So I just buy a medium size bottle of one and then when Im finished with that bottle I switch to another brand. Never buying the giant bottle and never the same two in a row. I also rotate Melatonin (spelling) and OTC herbal it works pretty good. However on the upside, since I have had the band, I have not had near the issues that I use to have and find that I am rarely needing to take anything...I'm not sure why that is but I am happy. Hope this helps!

what am I doing wrong
I am no expert but maybe its the type of liquids that you are consuming? What type of soup are you eating? Is it high in protein and low in carbs and fat? Also what are you drinking throughout the day? Soda, water, juice? Liquid calories are the sneaky calories. Give us some more information on what types of things you are eating. Also, how about exercise? Have you been able to work that in yet?

Butchered Belly Button
Give it time. I was banded on 11/15 and once I can my senses about me and began examining my incisions I was totally upset that he had gone through my belly button. It felt huge under the steri strips, once the came off it looked even worse and I was certain that I would have to do something to get it fixed. Now almost two months later it is still not 100% healed but it looks awesome and you will never be able to tell there was ever anything. So hopefully its just swollen and angry from the surgery and will settle down.

"That Full Feeling!?!?"
Full for me is a piercing pain in my left shoulder. It is really uncomfortable. I am not sure if this is normal or if its left over irritation from all the gas pain I had from surgery. However, I have noticed if I eat one bite too much I get this pain in my left shoulder and it doesnt go away until the food has passed! Crazy, I have learned where that point is but sometimes it sneaks up on you.

banded 11/17 only lost 13 lbs
Don't be discouraged! I am trying not to be, I was banded on 11/15 and have lost 30 lbs. However 18 of that was pre-op. I am extremely hungry all the time and have been loading up on as much Protein and Water as I can. I had my first fill on 12/13 and it was pretty good until about a week ago and now I am really super hungry and want everything. Trying to stay focused, my second fill is on friday 1/14 and I hope i will feel some restriction so that I can be motivated. I keep telling myself as long as I am going forward and losing something, its progress! Patience we can all get throught this, better things are yet to come! Kim

November 15 banders group
Thanks Purple for the welcome. I am hanging there today at this moment....LOL. I have done all my pre-op paperwork, have my prescriptions for pain med and nausea. I am pretty sure I am ready to go, now just waiting on the 15th. I need to update my ticker because I have already lost 9 lbs., five days into this but I dont remember how...oh well I will figure it out soon enough. So sorry to hear about the night before cleansing you have to do (YUCK). Hope it goes well. How are you doing on the pre-op diet? I think I am over the hump and it should be smooth sailing for the rest of the two weeks, at least I HOPE!

November 15 banders group
Hey everyone! I'm Kim and I have Nov 15th at 8am. I am on day five of my pre-op diet which is medi-fast. However only the shakes, soups and pudding. I have done well with the diet but emotionally it has been tough! Day three was probably the worst. I also gave up diet coke (my coffee) which according to the doctor I didnt have to do until after the surgery but I decided I might as well go ahead and cut ties with it now also. Its great that we have a thread just for our date. I am looking forward to reading everyones story and sharing mine. This board as been a huge help for me. Although my journey from Consult to Approval did not take a huge amount of time, I have spent the last four years reasearching this so I knew everything had to do and I had all my documentation. I have BC/BS of Nebraska and the took the full 30 days to make the decision. I will be off work for three weeks after the surgery. Keep me posted and anyone message me if you would like. :frown:

Hey Everyone! Great to hear the good reports of those folks that have been banded already this month! I get banded on the 15th of November at 8am. I am on day 3 of this pre-op diet! I am going crazy and would love to have some real food. My diet is medi-fast except you can no have the lean and green meal. Its all soups, pudding and shakes and honestly it doesnt taste good at all. I want to eat something so bad but dont want to blow it. I have twelve more days, I am so frustrated and hope my days fly by. Thanks for listening and good luck to everyone.

Hi Everyone! Well I am officially a November bandster. The doctor's office called me this morning to and my date is November 15, 2010. Like everyone else I am nervous and excited and scared and every other emotion possible. I start my pre-op diet November 1 and am very nervous about that. Anyway I wish everyone the best of luck as I know you are all sharing the same feelings about this adventure we are embarking on. Have a blessed day!

Waiting on insurance approval and it makes me sick to my stomach
I too am playing the waiting game! I have BC/BS of Nebraska. They show that it was received on September 24, 2010 and according to them it could take up to fourteen days. I hope it doesnt take that long, like the rest of you I am sick to my stomach everyday waiting for the news. Any advice of finding out the determination early or do you just wait for a call from the doctor or a letter from the insurance company?? Congrats to all who have been approved!! and Good Luck to those who are waiting. Kim
