  1. thats awesome. I will try that! You didnt feel overly hungry from not eating an actual meal?
  2. I am wondering if there are any protein powders that don't needed to be added to milk or water and you still benifit from them. I am looking for something to add to smoothies or something similar.
  3. YAY! Thats my surgery date too! I tried getting a thread going a week or so ago and no one responded. I was thinking it was maybe just a little to early. I'm glad we can go through it together! Where do you live? I'm in MN. I have almost everything done, just need to lose 15 pounds, which I am sort of struggling with. I have BCBS and have to get the 6 months of dietican visits in.
  4. YAY! I bet you are soooo excited! Take care of yourself and get some rest after and then let us know how it goes! Congrats on losing the 11 pounds. What did you do to get it off? I am in that stage now, where I need to lose before surgery.
  5. I know its early but I can hardly wait for my surgery date. Anyone else scheduled in November? I am scheduled Nov 12! How is your process going so far? I need 6 months supervised dietican visits and need to lose 15 pounds, including the pysch visit, GI visit and all that fun stuff. I have BCBS MN.
  6. I am. I am in the minneapolis area. Going through the U of M Fairview with Dr Leslie and I have a date of November 12. I can't wait!
  7. Congratulations! That's right around the corner!
  8. For my appointment I had to fill out a bunch of questions before I saw her and then the appointment with her lasted about 45 minutes and then I had to take a personality test, a mmpi, it was about 650 questions. And then I have a follow up appointment with her again in a couple of weeks. She just basically asked me the same as the other replies, depression, major stresses in my life, etc. It was pretty in depth but I think I should be ok. Good luck!
  9. Carousel- how long did it take you to get the ok from bcbs? I just want to make sure there is enough time in between. Glad you had a good experience with Dr. Leslie!
  10. So I've tried a few different protein shakes and they all have had the "milky" taste to me. I gag every time I have one. Does anyone make them not like that?
  11. 38 pounds! That's great! I wasn't able to see all the replies for some reason and only saw the last one....weird. anyway, I know what you mean about not actually seeing Dr Leslie. I had an appointment with him yesterday and waited for him and he came in and said I have a meeting I need to go to, do you have any questions? I was sort of irritated. I did ask him some questions but then got more answered by his scheduler. And more importantly a date!!!! I wonder why its so hard to get a hold of the care coordinator, hope you do soon,as your surgery is right around the corner.
  12. My bmi is 42. My dietician recommended about 1000 calories to get a jumpstart on things. So I am doing a protein shake, at least once a day and then light meals and healthy snacks. I know that will get me into a good routine.
  13. So did they tell you what you need to do in regards to losing or maintaining? I saw my surgeon today and was able to get a date set for surgery! Im so excited!!! November 12!!! That will give the insurance almost a month to review and process everything. Yes, good luck to all of us! It will be a great journey!
  14. Thanks so much for the tips. I'm waiting to be seen by the dietican now so I am going to ask if they can help me with a menu planner. The liquids is what I need work on, quitting diet coke and not drinking while eating are my challenges. I am working on it though! Thanks again for the advice!
