  1. Grrr! So know they called and said it will probably be the following week. I'm so upset because its really going to mess with my time off from work. They also said that they may call me next thursday and i can have it Friday so I cant say i can work next weekend. Is this a sign saying I shouldn't do it?!
  2. thanks for the replies everyone... I finally talked to someone. she said it is fine and there will be enough time for it to go through, and she said not to worry. SO I guess I will just trust them and keep my fingers crossed.
  3. My surgery is scheduled for November 12, which is coming really fast. I called my insurance BCBS MN a couple weeks ago to see if I have been approved yet and they told they hadn't received anything for the dr office. After many calls to the 1 person that submits everything she told me that she was still working the ones for the end of October. So she said she would probably get it in on Oct 29. I called and called on Friday and she never answered, never called me back. SO today I have been blowing her phone up and no answer. I called BCBS and they still dont have anything there yet. WTH? It less then 2 weeks away and the person for BCBS said it may take up to 30 days!!!! Im freaking out! I cant just reschedule my surgery, everything at work has been planned. I dont have a normal job, when Im not there it effects other peoples schedules. I just dont know what to do!!!
  4. Hey everyone! There are so many more of us November bandsters now! How exciting! So I am kind of freaking out...... I have my final weigh in tomorrow and the seminar that has to be taken before my surgery. I am required to lose 15 pounds before surgery, well, I am not down 15..... I am close but not all the way. What are they going to do? Will I still be able to have it? I only have a 2day pre op liquid diet so I am hoping I just will have to do that for a another day or so. I am so nervous! I will still be able to have surgery- right?!
  5. yay! you are getting closer!! Are you in MN? which hospital are you going to? Im having surgery November 11 at U of M fairview
  6. Hello Minnesota!! I'm in Brooklyn park. Where are you having surgery at?!our dates are close!
  7. I always get sick off of the barium too. It's awful, usually throw up from it. I'm not sure if you have to do it after surgery, i've seen some people do and some don't. So, not sure about that.
  8. Congrat! So happy for you!
  9. people have saying the same to me too- wait until after the holidays! But I am at my max deductable and I'm going to get it this year!!! And it will be good to say i will be losing weight and not gaining over Thanksgiving and Christmas.. How is everyone doing? I have had a rough weekend for eating, I had been doing so well and I had 2 friends birthdays and I don't know what happened! I think I am scared I am never going to be able to enjoy some of my favorite foods again. They wont agree with me or they wont go down. I think I needed one last hoorah with my food! If that makes any sense. and of course, I felt horrible after eating this weekend. My last dietican appointment is on Friday and I need to be down 3 more pounds. At least I didnt gain any weight this weekend. Well, tomorrow is a new day and I will get rid of 3 more pounds!!!
  10. Congratulations! That is really soon!!!
  11. Oh no! I am sorry you have to wait longer. Its not fair!!!!
  12. So my scheduled date is November 12. I don't know if I am just freaking out because it's becoming more real or I am just really unsure. Right from the beginning I wanted the band, but now I am wondering if gastric bypass is whats right for me. Does anyone else have those thoughts or if you have already had surgery, do you wish you would of had the bypass? I personally know 2 people who have had the bypass and they have been very successful with it. Maybe its because I personally don't know anyone that's had the band put in. ( and I "know" you guys to extent.....you know what i mean!)
  13. That's a great idea! I will ask him about where he plans on placing the port. Thanks! I wish I had another consultation with the surgeon before I have the surgery.
  14. thanks for the quick answers! I am so excited for you guys. you are newly banded- how is it going so far? Thanks for the input too, I think I will stick with what i was thinking and if I feel like I can go back earlier, I will, or see if I can do light duty.
  15. I am a Detention Officer and I am wondering if anyone else works in corrections or a jail/prison. I'm wondering how long you plan on taking off. I'm concerned about where the port will be and my duty belt. And the risk of anyone getting violent and messing up my recovery. My surgery is scheduled for November 12 and I was supposed to go back to work on the following Tuesday, but plan on taking the rest of the week off with sick time. Is that too long or not long enough? Thanks for any answers!
  16. Hello! I work in a jail as well, wondering how long you took off to recover. I'm just worried about where my belt sits, not sure if anything will sit up against it.
  17. Yay! Getting that tentative date, makes things better- there is a light at the end of the tunnel! Congrats!
  18. MrsLD- how did your appointment go today?! Megan, welcome aboard! Thats awesome that insurance went through so fast! Congrats. What state do you live in. I hope mine goes fast like that too! And we have surgery on the same day. I am so excited for all of us. I can't wait to see where we are this time next year. I had my 5th appointment with my dietican today, it was nice to get on the scale and have it be down more than 1 pound or just some ounces!!! She said I will just need to do a 2 days pre op diet before surgery and it doesnt have to be just shakes. She said it would be longer if I havent lost the 15 pounds before my last weigh in. I told her thats not going to happen! She was able to get my last appointment with her scheduled for early October so everything can get submitted faster. Lily- I dont think I will continue on with my pysch..... we will see but I think I will be OK. Hope everyone is having a good day!
  19. Hey Toni! Just wanted to check in with you and see how it is going since you've been banded! Hope all is well, have you had your first fill yet? I was also wondering how long and what kind of pre op diet you needed to do with Dr Leslie.
  20. Hey! Thanks for asking! I needed a couple days off of the web! But I am back now! lol I am doing well. I actually am down 10 pounds!!!! I cant even tell you how great that feels. I even survived Chuck E Cheese's today. I ate the salad bar instead of the pizza. Go me! I also had my follow up with my psychologist on Friday, it went well. She had me schedule an appointment with her in December to follow up to see how I am doing. Do you know if that's necessary with BCBS or is she just wanting me to continue to see her. I don't think I will if it isn't necessary. On Tuesday I have my 5th visit with the dietitian. I am actually excited to go, unlike all the other ones I was nervous because I wasn't losing the weight. How are you doing topazz? And Amy, you rock!!!! And everyone else- we are getting closer!!!!!!
  21. thanks! I will look for it! I just really didnt know if mixing it with other things than milk, made the protein less or if it HAS to be mixed with milk to get the protein out of the powder.
  22. you know, I am not really sure if I have to do the course or not, I have a meeting with the dietican this week, I will ask her. Yes,that is a pain to have to take more time off of work to do that. Does your school know what you are getting done? I didnt want to tell anyone at work but our schedules are so crazy and basically revolve around one another so I told my boss I am having elective surgery and he said that was all he needed to know. How much time are you planning on taking off? And what grade do you teach? How is the class so far? My son just started kindergarten- I think its harder on me than him!
  23. My doctor require his patients to lose weight before the surgery, but BCBS doesnt. Its just what he prefers. I am a mommy too! I have 2 busy boys. they are 3 and 5. I also have been overweight my entire life.... so its time to make a positve change in my life! I can't wait for us!
  24. Yes, yogurt more than likely. I called gnc and they do have a powder that you can mix with gatorade or juice. thanks for the info on anywhere!,
