  1. I used Dr. Ortiz in TJ and have also used him for my fills. I love the OCC and have not had any problems in TJ. It is a great place as long as you are sensible. Best wishes.
  2. In a heart beat. I can tell you it saved my life and increased the quality of my life. I can honestly say I am a better person on the inside because I feel so much better about myself.
  3. Yup. Sometimes I find it just 'kicks in' especially if I am eating what I am supposed to be eating. Just be careful and make sure you are getting enough liquids so you don't get dehydrated. I find when it is that time of month I have serious restriction...don't know why.
  4. Great post. Thank you!
  5. Belive it or not...coca cola works too. My doc put me on to this...I was stuck bad, drank some coke...the carbonation or something worked and 'got unstuck'. lol. Definately liquids for 24 hours to reduce inflammation.
  6. That list brought a lot back. Soon you will sit in chairs with your legs crossed and have plenty of room to spare. You will have more energy for your family, and as your self worth and self esteem rise, you will learn more and more about who the real you is. I know this will change your life...congrats on your success so far!
  7. I had a slip. I have no idea how it happened. Then it caused a hernia type situation where part of my stomach sucked up through the band. I couldn't keep anything down. They did emergency surgery and were able to save my band. Since then I find I can t be filled more than 1.9 in my 4 cc band. I haven't really lost much more weight, but I wasn't really trying either. I maintained my goal weight. I find as long as I eat the recommended foods my band 'works' and if I snack all day on things I shouldn't have, I can eat forever! You can do it, don't worry about other peoples results. Just refocus and follow the rules. Keep us posted and good luck! I have now decided I would like to lose 11 pounds to get to where my trainer says would be my 'ideal' weight. So...I am focussed. I am starting with a cleanse and detox...after Chirstmas I needed it! I will keep you posted!
  8. Hi everyone....hope you are all well. I am still doing well. Going up and down the same 8 pounds or so...oh well! I have just started a new countdown to get ready for the Dominican Republic...37 days left and would like to loose 8 pounds to put me at an all time low of 164. Take care everyone! :cursing:
  9. I find time of day and time of month makes a huge difference. Wierd. I am trying to learn to listen to my band and not push it.
  10. Mine has flipped too! I will be very interested to hear what you find out.
  11. Great Job Mary. As much as I hate the tracking, it does work for me. Thanks for the great link. I also track my water...I thought I drank more than I actually do. Congrats!
  12. That happened to me...I had .4 taken out and I was fine. Good luck.
  13. This happened to me and it was a slip. I would suggest only trying fluids about 1 0z at a time. My doc recommends coca-cola. If you are still sick tomorrow, go to emergency and get unfilled until the irritation subsides. I didn't and ended up in surgery. I hope it is nothing...remember we are all different. Also, this happens to me sometimes just before my cycle... best wishes.
  14. When I get stuck in a rut, I track my food again. Sometimes just making sure I am eating the right foods somehow makes my band work better. Can you go to the gym more often? What would motivate you? A trainer? Clothes, holiday?? You can do this, you have come so far...one day at a time my friend.
  15. If the acid has sat there for awhile, I am usually sore day or so, feels like getting a sore throat. As far as I know, after a bad inflammation try to be gentle for 24 hours. (Icecream soothes it!!!)
  16. I had no problems travelling back. But, when we say pack light we mean PACK LIGHT!! lol.I brought pain killers (just in case) for the flight, but I never had to use them.Be strong my friend! Your best health is just around the corner!
  17. Aw, thank you! I never looked at it that way. I guess I just have to remember the mantra "Sucess is a series of small accomplishments." Happy thoughts everyone! Victoria.
  18. :thumbup:Just checking in on you....You go girl! There will be dark days but keep your eyes on the sunny skies ahead...you can do this!
  19. lol....I know just how you feel. Just make sure you chew chew chew. When you start to get tight, take a break. For me the hickups mean I ate a bit too much too quickly. I try not to get the hiccups cause I am afraid that they may be harmful in a 'slippage' kind of way. I am happy for you!
  20. How many calories are you two getting?
  21. I feel qualified to say what I want here cause I have walked in your shoes. Here are a few thoughts... Don't feel guilty, your pos husband didn't just destroy a marriage he also destroyed a family. You didn't. I felt guilty too and that my kids needed a father blah blah blah...Ya know what, they were better off with me - especially a happy healthy confidant me. You have a long journey ahead of you but start it now. It will give you something to focus on rather than the pain. Get counselling, if you can't afford it there is free counselling or support groups such as al-anon. Don't feel like you have to be nice to either of them. Forgiveness is something you will work out in your own heart, but that doesn't mean you have to let them back into your lives. If someone makes you feel bad, get them out of your life. You and your kids deserve better. Consider this perfect timing for your new life for you and your kids. You will get through this, one day at a time. Huge hugs.
  22. Hi everyone...just checking in to tell you about my HUGE victory. I entered a 56km ultramarathon that took place (mostly) on an old logging road. Both walkers and runners could enter so I thought I would give it a go. I trained both mentally and physically for months! I wanted to finish more than anything. I have - make that 'had' - this little voice in my head that said that I couldn't finish things I start, and I also wanted to prove to myself that I was healthy and strong. So I trained and trained...and finished an amazing 56th out of 455!!!!! I am so happy! Anything is possible when you believe in your goal and prepare yourself daily for positive results. We bandsters have a new lease on life and we can do ANYTHING!!!!! Woo hoo! We deserve to be happy and healthy!
  23. I was very touched by your story. You are very brave and a real fighter. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I am doing a 40 mile walk in Sept to raise money for wigs for cancer patients...you will be on my mind while I walk. Thank you so much for the update; I read it to my husband as well. Huge hugs.ps...I moved in with my mom for a few months to help her during her cancer battle (she is doing great now) and I had to learn to cook breaking all the rules! It is a challenge...I never thought I would make soup using cream cheeze as a base! Every morning we would both weigh...she would pray for the scale to go up and I would pray for it to go down! I guess there can be humour in every situation.
  24. You are all very kind! I was away this weekend and just came home to your love and kindess. Thank you. I went to a car show this weekend and could actually buy a T-shirt that was cute and meant for a woman instead of the usual men's XL that I used to get....small victories...I had a small hurdle too....mini donuts...the donuts won the battle but I am winning the war...lol.
  25. I can't believe how long it has been since I have posted here. The great thing is that this forum is here for us when we need it. I have been feeling a little blue...weight is up a bit. (about 10 pounds). I have found that 170 is very good for me. I get there I gain 10, I lose it, I gain it etc. My band has been empty since Jan, but I went and got a fill to 1.4. Feeling a bit more in control now. I have been very faithful with the exercise and have adapted it as a way that I live my life....just need to get the food thing as the same good lifestyle. I am working on it though... I would love to hear how everyone is doing....
