  1. @@Mnicole Pretty much, so just follow your surgeon's instructions. ^^ Yesterday was my day 39, and I was cleared for anything. I have heard many on here who said they weren't allowed certain foods for 3 months, 5 months...etc. :(
  2. Just an update to my fellow September sleevers. Today I'm post op day 39, and had my follow up appointment #2. I got the clearance to eat anything I want, no restrictions. Yay. I'm currently eating a balanced diet ~600-800 calories, moderate carbs ~50g. I was told I am healed & can't hurt my sleeve at this point, and that even if I get sick (which I haven't) or pressure in the back of my throat, I can't hurt my sleeve. I got the usual reminder to eat Protein first, and always eat some protein during my Snacks as well. Example, cheese with my watermelon. Hmm, what else? Oh, my incisions are completely healed, I'm using Mederma advanced on them, once a day. No clue if that's a good product or not. Hope all is well with you. ~Sai
  3. I think it would be nice to have it done at the same time. The recovery is a little bit more difficult than the lap band. Some have it easy (I felt good from day 3) and others have a very difficult time. If you do it together, then your post-op diet will be the same which is really nice. Post-op diets for sleeve (depending on doctor) last a lot longer than the post-op diet for the band.
  4. I so hear you! I have family members who I do not see eye to eye with concerning politics. I'm really into politics, and I'm glad that I had my revision because I'm here a lot during my free time instead of Twitter. Lol good girl for not eating over it . 5. @@De6270 oooh, if you like pizza, try cauliflower pizza. I'm so addicted to that recipe. I'm on my phone, otherwise I'd link you to recipe but there are lots of them. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App
  6. Every day I either have some chia seeds or flaxseed in my Protein shakes/smoothies. They have a ton of antioxidants, Fiber, protein, rich in Omega-3, and also have zinc, Calcium, magnesium. Net carb is 1g per ounce. So tiny but literally packed with nutrition. That is why they are classified a super food. They are so versatile with very little taste so you can add them to just about anything. Enjoy Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App
  7. @@Havasumoma Wow great question! Thank you. @@Dairymary There is nothing more inspirational than that. Thank you.
  8. Couldn't tell you why you're having severe stomach cramps but I was prescribed Hyoscyamine for any muscle spasms. I can take it only when needed, and it helps far better than any pain killer.
  9. Good article to compare pros and cons of each. http://www.obesitycoverage.com/gastric-bypass-vs-gastric-sleeve-surgery/
  10. I held onto my water weight (from IV, diet changes... Etc.) for 10 days. I do have a history of edema though.
  11. Have you tried different sources of Protein? For example, perhaps plant based protein will be more agreeable with your system right now. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App
  12. Congratz on a key moment for you. Sitting at a booth without spilling all over the table and sitting in an airplane seat without worry of offending a stranger sitting by me were key moments for me too. Thank you for sharing it.
  13. I wouldn't think caffeine has anything to do with that since you are getting enough water, and caffeine actually boosts metabolism and help you burn fat (lipolysis). I know stalls are annoying though.
  14. @@jhayden1 Had a successful band for 7 years, and just recently revised to a sleeve (preventive more than necessary) but yes, unfortunately I remember those days before the first fill. Some people had restriction with just the band alone, unfortunately, I was not one of them lol. You'll also be having quite a bit of false hunger sensations and that's from the inside healing and/or acid. Congratz and am excited for you. I loved my band
  15. At the pureed or soft food stage. Fish is soft on the texture scale and is a great source of high Protein. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App
  16. Been really into Cauliflower pizza lately so for now this is my favorite recipe. http://damndelicious.net/2016/07/13/best-cauliflower-pizza-crust/
  17. @@facebro29 After my first WLS experience (band in 2009), I stocked up on Gas X maximum strength strips for my recent sleeve surgery (post op day 35). I took it around the clock, and it helped a lot. Wasn't sure if you were taking something like this. Feel better soon.
  18. I didn't care for sweets before the surgery, and now even the thought of biting into a cookie, for example, makes me nauseous. Is it because the surgery, not sure. It could've been from 4 weeks of nothing but "sweet" Protein shakes.
  19. Waiting 30 minutes after you eat also reduces the likelihood of bloating/gas. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App
  20. In liquid and pureed phases, it was hard to tell since liquids flow freely through the sleeve, and it wasn't designed to stop liquids. With semi-solids to solids, it's completely different. Not so much filled, but satisfied, yes. I feel pressure in the back of the throat, sometimes pressure towards the back (around the diaphragm level). Once I took one bite too many, and I felt all clammy, dizzy and uncomfortable for about 20 minutes.
  21. I think she works out of Kim Bariatric too, as she did my endoscopy recently, and I'm with Dr. Holden. Dr. Hien Le? That's the group I am with. When is your surgery or have you already had it? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Sept. 2, 2016 , I'm post op day 34. I feel great btw. Checked in at 5 am, out by 4 pm. Out of it for Day 1 and 2 (sleeping), and from day 3 on, it's been an easy recovery. Knock on balsa wood haha.

  23. I was thin until 14 years old and then got sexually assaulted by a few "friends", within 4 years I put on about 125 lbs. First I dealt with is with anorexia, then I dealt with it with compulsive overeating. Basically the same thing, just switching seats on the Titanic, right? I went to see a talk therapist who helped me tremendously. She also introduced me to Overeater's Anonymous which helped me just as much, emotionally speaking. Something about that bonding and seeing others go through something similar regarding my eating disorder. I still go to OA meetings online off and on when I feel overwhelmed if I need to get my bearings.
  24. I didn't have to quit. I was told to take moderate amounts, a cup or two a day and "just don't go crazy". It is a diuretic so just make sure you drink lots of water. Each doctor is different, some unfortunately are not up to date with most of the scientific studies (concerning caffeine, nicotine..etc.), or out of habit they hang on to what they have practiced for many years or perhaps somewhat paranoid (who could blame them with the medical malpractice suits).. Etc.
  25. Severe, excruciating pain (usually chest, shoulder, abdominal), racing heart, dizziness and a high fever. Sounds like you have gas pains, have you been taking your Gas-X strips or chewables? Those things save me hehe.
