What I Wish I Had Known Before Banding
I wish I had known: That I would go through a depression right after surgery, then again as the band got tighter and the things I could eat got less and less. That I would reach plateaus and then pick up the weight loss again. That I would NOT all of a sudden start to want to exercise. I still am very unmotivated. Character flaw. How great I would feel when I reached 50 lbs gone! That some of my overweight relatives would turn on me because they didn't approve of the surgery.

Looking for others who had the surgery with BMI less than 35
hey! i was 33 bmi with comorbidities. I weighed 216 and had my surgery on 10/25/10. Lost most of it before Christmas and now I weigh 186. Just got another fill today. I haven't been watching what I eat or anything and it's all my fault, but I have gained 5 lbs in the past month. Dedicate yourself when you start and never cheat. A little cheat leads to BIG cheats.

Am I the only one truly struggling with this?
I just wanted to speak to you so that you don't experience the same thing I am. I started out the same way you are. Cheating a little here and there. Well, I had my surgery 10/25/10 and I am not doing good at all. I lost 33 lbs during the first couple of months. Now I am stuck and actually gaining because I don't do what I am supposed to. I eat whatever I want and eat too much. Yes I was 216 and I am now 184, but like I said, I have been gaining. FOLLOW THE RULES TO THE LETTER! YOU DIDN'T GO THROUGH THIS TO FAIL! You will be ok. It does not hurt to feel hunger. I know we don't like it, but it doesn't actually hurt. Good luck on your journey!

Joined the gym today. Who's with me?
Well, today I went and joined the gym. I had surgery October 25 and have not been exercising. I have lost 30 lbs so far (including pre-op diet) and I am ready to add some exercise so I can make more of an impact. Just curious, anyone else joining?

Glad Holidays are over !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am so dissappointed in myself. I gained 3 lbs over the past few days. I have been eating and drinking things that I shouldn't. I am very down on myself and that is a recipe for disaster for me. Tomorrow morning I am going to get back on the wagon!

Resorting to Sliders....
I got my first fill a week ago and right now, I am very frustrated. My doctor told me he was going to be very aggressive for my first fill and put in 4 ccs. WAY TOO MUCH. He immediately took out .5 cc's and then another .5 cc. I left the office with a feeling in my chest like I needed to burp. Well, I headed back to the office, (the doctor had left for a bit so I had to wait on him to come back) and before he got back I started to throw up the water that he had me drink. This was over 3 hours from the time I left the office. When he got there, he took out another cc, so I now have only 2 ccs in. Since then, I am struggling with taking small bites and eating too fast. I have been getting stuck a lot and I am so mad at myself! I realize that the getting stuck is my fault and today is the day that I am going to really start to concentrate on how I am eating and what I am eating. I know I have to do it myself, but the change of habit is really kicking my butt!

Advice for Husband who is Micro-Managing Food Intake
I don't let my husband know anything about what I do wrong because he has no sympathy or understanding of the process. If you need someone to talk to, I would talk to people on here. I made friends with a very nice lady that lives very close to me. We have never met, but we talk on the phone almost everyday and become very good friends. It is good to have support from someone who knows what you are going through. I won't be telling my husband when I mess up because I don't want to be corrected like I were a child.

Outrageous Octobers 2010

A few more issues
:(I hate to say it, but I am finding it so hard to figure out this new layout that I am almost to the point of letting this site go. I will miss all the information I gain from it, but I had just figured out the other layout since I am new.

How long does the port pain normally last?
I had my surgery October 25, 2010. My port is still very sore. When I stand it hurts. When I wear jeans, it hurts. How long till it heals?:blushing:

The little things!
I can cross my legs again without using my hands to help! I love that! I also was able to put on a pair of jeans that I haven't worn in 3 years. I had to buy a smaller bra yesterday. I put on a shirt yesterday and it just hung on me.

How often do you weigh yourself?
Everyday! Addicted to my scale!

Newly Banded : Scared and in pain
My doctor also sent me home with liquid lortab. My recovery was slow and painful and I did not have a hernia repair. HOWEVER.......it does get better! Keep talking to people on here and ask any questions.....you will get answers!

How long before you know if.....
I don't have any restriction yet either, but this morning I was eating too fast and not chewing enough and I got stuck! I knew it right away. I kinda feels like it does when you take a pill and it doesn't go all the way down. Luckily from reading other people's posts, I knew to raise my arms above my head and magically, it seemed to go down.

2week liquid diet
You will make it through this. It is not fun, but I lost 17 lbs during that 2 weeks.

October 2010 (Bootiful Bandsters) Thread
Banded on the 25th. Port is prominent. Having port pain. No weight loss in last week and a half. No restriction. Not gaining. Not worried yet. Just waiting for that first fill. Wish I could see 6 months into the future.

2 days after surgery... having hard time getting shakes down
The first week for me was the worst. I was only able to drink about 2 oz of an Ensure at a time. I had a barium swallow at two weeks out to see why I still felt so full. I had a huge gas bubble that was causing me a lot of pain and misery that was "trapped". Dr told me to lay on my left side, propped up. Weird, but after about an hour, when I stood up, I had the greatest burp ever and I felt much better.

Does anyone ever NOT get a fill?
I was just banded on October 25 and I wish I could get a fill now. I am hungry all the time and can eat too much already.
-
4th day banded but do have some questions.
I had a lot of trouble with gas and they checked and i had a gas bubble trapped. Simple solution: Lay on your left side. It work for me. Give it a try.

Scared! Need a pep talk!
Yes! You are feeling very normal feelings. I mourned over popcorn and cokes. I was addicted to both and now I can never have them again. Think about it........ you are mourning over food!! You need to think of how good it is gonna feel when you start having to look for smaller clothes because all of a sudden, your clothes are all too big!
-
Does ANYONE experience this???
Just curious......Are you drinking while you eat?
-
Just had surgery yesturday
