  1. Sorry to hear that you are having trouble. When I had my 1st fill last week the doc said that it takes up to 2 fills to have lasting restriction. I am not sure why but I am hoping that it does not happen to me. I have to do a 14 hour round trip to get a fill. :omg: Good luck.
  2. I am 4 days post 1st fill. I had my first regular meal today. 2 pieces of fish, corn on the cob and a few hushpuppies. It took me from 12pm until 8pm to eat it all. So a lunch became dinner too!!!!:clap2: I am down 2 pounds since the fill also:clap2: . I did lots of yard work today and felt great!!! I also am up to 2 workouts with a trainer a week--20 min treadmill and 30 min on weigh machines. I LOVE IT. I do treadmill 2-3 times a week also. Thanks for being here and reading! Hope everyone else is doing good.
  3. I just got my first fill last week. I thought that my port was under my biggest scar. But when I got the fill it turned out to be inch under that scar. The doc said what I felt was just scar tissue.:girl_hug:
  4. I also had a bigger tummy after surgery but now it is down 3 inches!!!!!! Just wait til the swelling goes down.
  5. I had my first fill yesterday the 7th. It was neat. He found my port (not where I thought it was), numbed me up (that hurt a bit) and went in for the fill. That was the weirdest feeling. Not pain but lots of pressure. It was done with fluro and then I got to watch the bairum(didn't taste too bad) work on the screen. It was neat and to see how the band works. It only lets a little pass at a time.
  6. I got my first fill today!!!!!!!!!! 1.5 cc in a 4 cc band. It was a weird feeling them getting to the port. It was done undo fluro and the a barium swallow. I will know in 3 days when I can eat solids if there will be any difference. The Doc said that most do not have any until the 2nd fill. Will keep my fingers crossed. I had to do a 10 round trip to Dallas today and I am tired.
  7. Hi there. I went out of state for my band also with no doctors here that do fills. It is about 4.5 hours and I have to do this all in one day. It will be hard but it is a must. I hope that within 6 months there will be someone here at home that do them. I get 4 free then after that I will find someone closer to home I hope. I hope that I will not need more than 4!!!!!! Good luck.
  8. You should call them. I did and found out that a self pay gets 4 fills. I am still going with $$$$ just in case they are wrong. I hope not. At $200 a fill it sure would help out. Congrats of your band!!!!!! Hope that you liked Vista as much as I did. They were so very nice.
  9. Don't be scared. Just think of it as the start of your new life. I was so excited I did not sleep at all the night before!!!!!!
  10. I had my band done in a hospital in Dallas and the total cost for all test and surgery was 12,500. It was done in a small but VERY clean hospital. There are other places. Good luck and keep positive.
  11. I too loved my Diet Coke. I found out that you can't have it after the band. So mid Oct I switched to tea. Now I am on Decaf coffee and tea. I thought that I would miss Diet Coke and caffeine but I do not. I also gave up bread Dec 1st. That was way harder to do than the drinks. I thought it would be better to give things up in stages so I would not be in shock. Good luck.
  12. I am 6 weeks out and have had some hair loss. It seems to have slowed down. I also now take Niacin and Biotin. It can't hurt. Also have started on a volumizine shampoo and cond. Hair spray too to fluff it up some so it does not look as flat. Good luck.
  13. I get on the scale every morning. It is just to make sure that I have not gained any. I am getting my first fill next week and right now I can eat way more than I should. If I had will power I would not have gotten the band. I do measure once a week and have lost 3 inches around my waist. However due to my walking and personal trainer I have gained 2 inches in my thighs. She tells me that is a good thing and with that muscle gain I would not see a big drop in weight. I guess that is a good thing. I do know that I feel much better now. Good luck to all!!!!!!!!
  14. I was also banded in Dallas. I paid $12,500 for Dr. Barker. You can go through Nova Body Solutions at Vista Hospital. Everyone was great. I am going back for my first fill on the 7th of March. Self pays get 4 fills included!!!
  15. Does anyone know when you can add back caffenie?? I have been off of it for 6 weeks now. I was just wondering. Thanks
  16. Good choice on not telling people. If I could go back I would have only told my close family and a couple of friends. This past weekend someone that over heard me talking with a friend announced to a crowd of people that I had the lap band. Some of these people I did not even know. I was not to sore after the surgery. I only took one pain pill. I was back at work one week later. I groom dogs and it is very physical. Good luck!!!!!!
  17. I had the worst post band day. I can eat whatever I want, whenever I want.:hungry: I knew going into this that my will power was the pits but this is crazy. I do not get a fill until march 7th and that seems like so far away.:cry I know that this is normal and once I have fills that it will get easier. I just know that when I had restrictions I did so much better. I know that the band is just a tool and I do have to do lots to help it. I just need to get the tool in working order. Thanks for listening!!!!!!!!!
  18. I am also cold. It is warm here in Louisiana today and I did a bit of yard work and did not sweat. I sleep in a long gown and heavy blanket. Before I would just have a tee shirt and sheet. My friend cannot believe that when we were in the 20's for the low I was in a flannel gown, robe and sitting in front of the space heater. My dad had bypass surgery 3 years ago and he also is very cold nature now.
  19. I know that you are glad that everything is in the making!!!!!!!! It becomes so real when you get the DATE!!!!!!
  20. I made my appointment today for my first fill on 3-7-07. I should have already had a fill this past Monday. I am working on will power alone. Not doing to good. I am not gaining but not losing.
  21. Welcome to the group!!!!! Congrats. Take it easy and rest up. Everyday will get better and better.
  22. THANK YOU koko1920!!!!!!!!!!! I had my band done at that hospital. I called Nova Solutions and found out that my first 4 fills are free!!!!:clap2: :faint: :clap2: I am a self pay. I was never told this and would not have found this out if it weren't for a cancelled appt at another dr's office and not being able to talk with someone. I called and made a fill appointment for 3-7-07.:clap2: I will have to talk off an extra day from work but for a free fill it will balance out. I really need those fills....I can eat way too much food:hungry: . Thanks again.
  23. Today was to have been my first fill but the Dr's office called late Friday and cancelled it. Today I call the office and got the answering service. I asked why was the office closed and she said do to the holiday!!!!! I was stunned. Cancelled a appointment that was made 2 weeks ago for President's day. I am not a happy camper. I too can eat more and more each day. If I had that much will power I would not have need the help of the band. Thanks for letting me vent!!!!!!!
  24. Mine is "New Car"!!!! That is what I gave up to have the band so why not!
  25. Sorry to hear that you are having so much pain. I am 1 month out and the lap band was my first surgery. Other than the cold I came home with I flew through it great. Took 1 pain pill the afternoon of and that was all. One week later I was sitting in my chair at work grooming dogs. Of course I did not lift them up or down but did the hair cutting. Now I am doing pre spring yard work. Hang in there it gets better!!!!!!
