I just had surgery on friday and my paperwork said I could have tea and coffee....as part of my clear liquid diet, I had no problems with either.

I waited a couple of months.....I understood it was just wait til after we'd healed. However, after a few months, it started making my heartburn worse so I limit it to a couple of cups in the morning (always with cappacino protein in it, of course, lol!!).

I was never told to not have it - begain it back immediately with no problems. Best to do what your doc/nutritionist prescribes and/or what works for you.

All nutritionist have different guidelines. Mine said to stay away from caffeine if at all possible. She does however say to most certainly not have soda. I don't drink any caffeine and I gave up soda last summer and don't miss it!
