  1. My only regret isn't specifically band related. I wish I had of planned ahead for the cost of plastic surgery. Its too much out of my financial reach right now and had I started saving on day one of my band, I'd be in a better place to be thinking about it now 17 months out when I feel I need it. That said, I would never give up my band. I'm happier and healthier 100+ pounds lighter.
  2. Mines not quote as ridiculous, but I was telling a friend the other day the foods I can't eat and she was all "what?!?! you can't eat lettuce??" I responded with "well it suits me, as does not being 115 kilos anymore".
  3. Thanks, I'll have a look into them. I'm getting desperate!
  4. I'm with Chickie. Maybe get a month membership at a gym and try out the various classes they have, then you're not locked into it for the long term if it doesn't work out. I definitely felt like a clumsy elephant my first little while at the gym, in fact I am still not the most co-ordinated of people, but I learnt quickly that I had to get past that "people are looking at me" mentality. Other people there are there to do what you are - exercise and get fit, they're not there to people watch (and if they are, they're freaks and need help! haha). I didn't love running (which is my exercise of choice) straight away, but once I saw the effects it had on my body, it made me want to get out there and do it to continue the weight loss. Perhaps you might feel the same in time with something you try out. Start slow, give yourself time and you'll get there. Good luck!
  5. Hmm what/where is R&T? I ask because the PS I went to see gave me item numbers for the body lift he quoted me for but NIB (the fund I am with now) only covers plastic surgery if the surgeon will do it under their medigap scheme, which the surgeon wouldn't (more details on my blog below if anyone is interested). Perhaps I should change funds and wait out the 12 month waiting period, because I'm almost never going to have the $20k to pay it out of pocket. And well, I REALLY want that darn surgery.
  6. Who cares! A loss is a loss, and yours is a GREAT one!

Fantastic news! Best of luck Lauren.
  8. My hair continued to fall out for about 8 months after banding, which was when I lost the majority of my weight. I have really thick hair though so it didn't bother me much. The annoying thing was when it grew back and I had all the little different lengthed hairs sticking out all over the place on my hair line and in my part. Looked ridiculous!
  9. I agree 100% with what Losingjusme has said. I also think "needing" is open to intepretation. I feel that I need plastic surgery to feel like my weight loss journey is complete (I won't be getting it, but thats a whole other story), but I can and will probably live with my body the way it is. I have lost over 100 pounds and while I don't look like a bikini model because of my loose skin and residual fat, I certainly could look a lot worse. I guess it just boils down to whether each individual can live with the end result - some people can't because it impares their ability to live a normal life. Luckily I'm not one of them (I'd still LOVE to have a body lift though!).
  10. Nina, you're looking fantastic!
  11. Oh Christine, you just look simply amazing. Imagine how easy running is going to be now when you get back to it! Wooooooooooo!
  12. Thats great that they have you walking already! You're going to be all good in no time, don't push it though! Hope you have a restful night :w00t:
  13. HOORAY! *waits for dh's post and sends good healing vibes to you*
  14. Woo! Thats awesome, congrats!
  15. I would have started saving for reconstructive plastic surgery the day I was banded. Other than that, nothing.
  16. I couldn't have driven myself the half hour drive home from the hospital the day after surgery, even as a passenger I was a bit of a mess still and every bump in the road hurt. I think I drove on about day 4 or 5 to the local shops, walked around for about half an hour and was too exhausted to drive home. Luckily hubby was with me and drove home. I think a 4 hour drive straight after surgery (even as a passenger - unless you have GOOD pain meds) might be a bit ambitious.....
  17. The PS I saw a few weeks back said there was no problem really, just that I might end up with a bit of a pudge/sagging skin after a pregnancy, but well, I'd have a baby to show for that. He said I had as much chance of looking perfect afterwards as anyone else, it was really down to genetics/my skin and how well I looked after my skin/body during the pregnancy.
  18. Can't wait to hear from you when you're all done, thatnk goodness for IPhones!! I'm so excited for you LJM!
  19. I did a search here before I went to my consult a few weeks back. Kellie Bellie (I think thats how she spelt it, maybe it was kelly bellie) posted a great list when some one asked this question a couple of years ago. I found that the PS I saw answered most of the questions I was going to ask anyway.
  20. Cakey bready burrito type things spell trouble for me. Funnily enough I can still have pizza though - weird huh? eggs are the biggest no-no for me though. Last time I had scrambled eggs we were on holidays and I spent almost 2 hours sliming and pbing and sweating profusely while feeling like I was going to pass out/die in an unlit public toilet cubicle in a small town we'd traveled to to have a look at all the touristy things there. Bad bad experience.
  21. Its THIS WEEK NOW! WOOOOOOOOOO!
  22. You're not alone. I feel this way after finding out I won't be able to afford plastic surgery earlier this week. Everytime I look in the mirror what I see is hideous to me. I've lost over 100 pounds but right now I might as well be 250 pounds again, I'm hating myself that much. You know though, in the rational part of my brain, I know that things could and have been a lot worse. And I should be grateful. Sigh. But sometimes it hard. Just try to keep telling yourself that you've made an incredibly brave and healthy decision for yourself in getting banded. March 19 will be here before you know it and then the rest of your life begins. Hope you're feeling better soon.
  23. Woo woo! I love that dress, you look fab as usual!
