You totally look like you are running! And great time! Theres a big 10km run here in September I am hoping to do (I've dealt with the fact that the City to Surf in Sydney is probably too close (August 10) and a little too far at 14km for me to do yet). I ran the 10km in 77 minutes last year, it was the first time I'd ever run 10km. Hoping to train enough to get close to or under 60 minutes.

thanks She!
Ahh thanks for explaining...sounds like a bit of a pain in the ass though! And as for the running dacks (haha such and Aussie thing to call them), I've sworn by nike until now, I've had two different styles and have liked them both. I've tried on the Skins and they FEEL great on (and look pretty swish too). But like you the $140 price tag is a hard pill to swallow. I may just bite the bullet now though, cos its bloody cold where I am when I get out at 4:30-5pmish for my runs, and I've only got 3/4 ones now. I also need a pair of running gloves for my icicle fingers, I know I can pick them up for $20 from the local running store, but getting there is proving a bit difficult right now. I'm thinking about asking husband for an ipod nano and nike + system for my birthday (but I have to convince him that I need another, 3rd ipod somehow....). How did the 10km run go Jacqui?

Salsa's Summer Surgery!
Karri good job! You've completed a half marathon, now theres nothing you can't do!! Woo! So happy for you
-
thanks She!
Oh boy that sounds annoying! I hope they can figure out what is going on and treat you for it. I'm completely ignorant - if it is endo, whats the treatment?
-
What does this mean to you...
Nope, not paranoid I don't think. Thats how I would have taken it. Did he say it calmly in conversation or was it in amongst a heated argument?
-
thanks She!
I thought you just didn't like us Jacqui and did want to join hehehe I think I sent Chickie and invite too.... Well beleive it or not, I've run 25km this week and I still want to try to get another 6ker in tomorrow (sunday). My knees are almost back to normal and I have dry needling and LOTSLOTSLOTS of stretching/strengthening exercises to thank for it. Oh and yoga. Yoga is my new second love. It feels bloody awesome to be relatively pain free again. For a while there I thought that was it, that my running career (ha!) was over. Jacqui - have you tried physio for your pain? Maybe your gait/stride/technique is off? Do you have orthodics for your shoes? It was actually suggested to me to get a running coach so I can learn to run properly. I know I overpronate, so it probably would help a lot. Not sure how accessable a coach would be where I live though....

Which type are you?
Congrats on the 55 minute 10km Jacqui, thats a darn fine effort!!!! Poetic justice at its finest! And I hate that "strong" compliment too Jamie. I'm not strong either - disciplined *most* of the time and blessed with my band, yes. But strong, no. If I was strong I would have been able to keep the weight off the first time I got down to 150 pounds.

I only just found the thread that you were talking about in your OP Jachut - I responded here in response to the content of your OP only. There was so much more behind it I now realise!. All I can say is holy smokes!

Salsa's Summer Surgery!
Good luck with the run tomorrow (Sunday) and I am SO jealous about both the half marathon AND your surgery! I'll just have to live vicariously through you!!! GOOD LUCK AGAIN!!!!

Which type are you?
I agree that its SO much about attitude. And even the most successful bandsters swing between very much so and not so much so in control from day to day. Its what we do with that control day in and day out that matters - from the first week or to our X number of years out. I started my blog as my personal space to record my sucesses and challenges. It was for me. Sure I linked it here in the hopes that it might help some one else, but people had a choice to click into it and then a choice to keep reading once they started reading my babble.....I started it because I AM a whiner by nature. I've had MORE than my fair share of bad luck recently, methinks. But I also know when I have made shitty food choices. I KNOW!!! I was fat once upon a time and I know how I got fat, so I have a hold on how well I can do that overdoing it thing. But I am 100% with you on this - blaming stuff on the past only goes so far...do I blame it on my ex who did this and that to me, or the fact that this happened when I was a child etc etc? Yeah to maybe -this- extent. But I am still a living breathing adult making choices day in and day out. At some stage of the game we have to step up and be responsible for our choices. I mean would we be pulled over for speeding and say "sorry officer, I was speeding because my sister was always prettier than me growing up?" (for example!). Really can we REALLY use excuses for not making the most of our bands???? How interelated are things really?? It CAN be simplified to be about the day in day out choices we make - chose to do the right thing for you and your band TODAY. Thats all you need to do. Don't let the past or your struggles damage you. Lastly, thanks Jachut. Returning to running hasn't been easy for me, and I am afraid that it might get worse again before it improves fully. But I have full faith that I will get there. That all I have to build on right now!!!

I hate it when people post just to post.....
I was posting to say I'm back from holidays and I wish I wasn't. I also wanted to say Fanny, it definitely sounds like you're better off without those two in your life!!! And Susan, its a shame you still have to have contact with the two twits you've mentioned, but you're a great Mum for putting up with them for your daughters sake (and standing up for her rights - stepmum sounds like a NUTCASE!)

Which type are you?
Firstly, this is why I'm not having kids. Ever. I'd be that moaner. I KNOW I would. My band on the other hand, yeah its caused me some grief lately, yeah I've put on a little weight being unfilled. But I KNOW how to fix that - its just that laziness has set in - I've been here before and I picked my self up and lost another 25 pounds after that. I'll get back on the horse when I am ready and in the short term I know its no ones fault but my own. I might whine and moan, but its all directed at myself. Surely its not THAT hard to figure out.....is it? I mean theres only SO many outside things/people/situations one person can have to blame isn't there??

Frangipani & TexasBecky get Reconstructed
I've also been a bit of a "drive by" reader of this thread and wanted to wish you both the best and thank you for the insight you give to us other bandsters who go after you with PS. Hope you both heap quickly. All the best

What pain medication did you take? Australian types
I take the soluble panadol rapid now, I just let it sit for 5 or 10 minutes so the fizz goes out of it a bit. You can just get it in Woolworths. Right after surgery I took Pain Stop liquid medicine. Thats what they gave me at the hospital, there is a day and a night version, its meant for kids, but worked for me -all 115kgs of me!. I don't have any trouble taking tablets/capsules (I'm on horse sized antibiotics right now for a respiratory infection I am recovering from). My surgeon told me I can take nurofen if I REALLY need it but ONLY with a meal so it gets carried through to my stomach from the pouch.

Australian Bandsters Chat Thread
I am a total wuss, let me preface my response with that, but there is no way I could have gone back to work on day 4 or 5 after surgery. Day 4 was my worst for the gas pains, actually. I had a full 2 weeks off work was about about 95% when I went back to my desk job...I was still a bit slow for about a week after that. I really think have a talk to your surgeon about whether they think its possible and whether they will clear you to return to work.

Wasabubblebutt is in recovery
Thank you SO much for your detailed response to my questions Wasa, I really appreciate you taking the time when you aren't yet feeling 100% from your surgery. The sleeve sure sounds like a great option! Ghrelin is a nasty piece of work, isn't it!?!? I hope the revision it allows you to resume a better day to day eating regime. Thanks again
