  1. You already added me last week LJM, its just taken me this long to actually do my first run! You're a fair way ahead, I wouldn't count on me kicking your ass!
  2. I didn't want to have to buy ANOTHER ipod to use the nike +. I have 2 ipods already, but not a nano. The sportbands aren't in Australia yet, so I got mine off ebay, but it worked out to only be about $60 I think. Its a great option for anyone who doesn't want to have to fork out for an ipod. I don't have the nike shoes either. Lovely Ang from this forum sent me a lacelid to put the sensor on my shoe :wink2:
  3. I got to use my nike sportband for the first time today. Its rocks! I love that it tells me calories burned.....I had no idea of what kind of amount I was burning over my usual 6km, and now I do (437 cal today)!
  4. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that the solution really is that simple!
  5. Chickie, for the full picture of my injury have a read of my blog everything about my phyio and recovery is there (tagged under physio or injury). The knee thing of yours is probably related to your pelvis alignment somehow then!!! I thought I was better a few weeks ago after close to 3 months of physio acupunture and then did 4 x 6.25km runs in a week, felt great for 3 of them and and over did it - the last run I did was painful. So he's put me on running rations of 2 short runs a week. Which sucks and weirdly I am less motivated to do than 5 a week. My physio has told me that as long as I am a runner (ha!) I will need to have at least monthly physio/acupuncture and keep on with the stretches he's given me. Joy. Just go with what your physio suggests. In my experience too much on an injury is just back pedalling all the work the physio does. I keep trying to tell me that even people like Robert De Castella must have injuries like this at some stage.....
  6. Oh yes they do. I replied to your most recent thread about them.....hope your Doc can help you find something to clear them up.
  7. Absolutely. I used to have a UTI every few weeks with with ex of mine. We never used condoms. I've also had them with other partners from time to time. Now I am a little bit older, wiser and know for certain that husband and I do not want to have children, we use a condom every time (as well as me being on the pill - yes, I'm paranoid, but do not want to have to even consider going through an abortion). Since being with my husband I have never had a single UTI. I strike it totally up to using condoms and the whole going to the bathroom straight away combo. You can only try it and see if it helps!
  8. Posting to say I'm over being sick. Over it. That is all.
  9. Holy moley Chickie, thats bizarre! I'm with you on the not minding blood and gore, so I know how unnerving it must have been to have that happen. Hopefully the Dr can shed some light on it tomorrow for you. A 2km round trip is better than nothing.....
  10. Oh gosh, I forgot that you have an excuse for not running at the moment Chickie! Here I was thinking that I wasn't the only lazy slob who hadn't got up off her butt for 2 weeks. But you just had surgery! I'd totally forgotten because you've been job interviewing and getting on with life like a trooper! MUST GET MY BUTT OUT RUNNING THIS WEEK. Argh! Some one kick my a$$, please.
  11. Pffft. You both look bloody amazing. Fit and healthy
  12. Yes! Maybe they'll discover a pill/injection/something to stop the production of ghrelin with out surgery! That would be brilliant!!
  13. Congrats on the 10km time Jacqui! My fingers and toes are crossed for you Karri. I've been a lazy slob and haven't run in weeks. I suck.
  14. You rock Chickie! Congrats! Aw man, sorry Mac. That sucks, when is it postponed to?
  15. I'm a lot like Jachut. I don't NEED plastic surgery, but I'd look a million bucks if I had it lol. I have stretch marks on my lower tummy from where my stomach kind of overhung, so thats a bit saggy. My boobs do hang a bit lower than I'd like for my age, but really I can live the way I am - it beats being 100 pounds heavier and I can easily get clothes that flatter my shape and hide my flaws now I'm smaller. I do have stretch marks on my hips and thighs so I wear little shorts over my bathing suit, and some in my arm pits so I don't wear a lot of sleeveless things, but those areas aren't nearly as bad as they could be. I think it REALLY differs from person to person, and where and how long you carried the weight. I've exercised pretty consistently since banding and while I don't think that helped with the sagging skin, it has helped give me better tone under the skin!
  16. Argh LJM I hope you feel better soon. The bean will be worth it though!!
  17. Wow Neal, you look amazing! Thanks for sharing!
  18. Thanks for your responses  I think I'll see if they ask about it and go from there. They are a good friend, but we still have a bit of a weird friendship - close in some ways and not in others. Its hard to explain....I find it REALLY strange that they spent SO much money on me though, and if the receipt was left in there so I could exchange it, it probably would have been less confusing for me if they said so? Perhaps?? My husband thinks I should just gracefully accept it and put it with all the other "not me" jewellry I've received over the years....but I feel like thats a waste of my friends money. Bah!
  19. Ok so personal/moral/friendship dilemma - a friend buys you a bday present and you open it later on when you are not with them. You don't like it, its jewellry and its not you AT ALL, you don't think you will ever wear it. Gift giver person said if you don't like it, to tell them (I don't know what the plan was after that - like that they'd exchange it or I'd pick something else etc?). The receipt is (accidently?) still in the gift bag it came in and it was rather expensive. Do you tell them you don't like it??? And if so, how do you approach that? Thats a hypothetical, of course. But I was just wondering, cos I suck at that kind of thing
  20. I saw a Plastic Surgeon earlier in the year and was quoted $20,000 for a full body lift (they pull you tight and smooth all the way round). Thats including the anesthesiologist. My fund NIB wouldn't cover a cent and medicare would only cover $90. I even had item numbers for it and medicare wouldn't cover it. Needless to say, I didn't get the surgery and am living with my body as it is!! My band Dr recommended the PS I saw, and the PS showed me pics of previous massive weightloss patients he'd worked on and he did great work. He had no reservations about working on me with my band. The PS told me I'd have the best results if I was as close to my goal weight when I had the surgery. My advice - start saving now!
  21. BBK the same thing happened to me and a close friend last year. I was to be maid of honour at her wedding, she'd even bought me the freaking dress, and then suddenly I get an email weeks out from the wedding saying that they aren't inviting anyone but family to the wedding anymore. I replied and said it was a shame, how disappointed I was etc etc.....never heard anything from her ever again. Still to this day I have no clue what happened for her to dump me like that. People are weird.
  22. I have TOTALLY missed something here I think! But I bought Australian size 11 jeans today so I'll just think about that instead....
  23. Love your Docs use of that song as a metaphor LilMiss! That should be the LBT theme song!
  24. I haven't experienced any kind of "hell" either and I'm coming up to my 2nd bandiversary in a few months. And, I even had a slight slip at one point, even that wasn't hell, inconvienient, yes, but hell, no. I've eaten normal food all the way through my journey and I've exercised my butt off, literally. I've gone without nothing in the way of food. I just eat smaller portions now. I have exercise to thank for being able to continue normal eating habits.
  25. Oh man. So the only way I get to be a sucess story is to do only liquids? Are we STILL on that bandwagon?.....who is this person's Doctor? My Doc would slap me over the head if I told him that was my diet because thats all I could keep down and then he would immediately remove a lot of my fill!!
