  1. Just an update.... for you AND for myself. Tomorrow morning will be 2 weeks!! :w00t: I'm so excited that i moved on to puree/mushy tonight! (12 hours early) Roasted chicken and mashed potatoes (blenderized with broth of course....LOL). Go me!! I've gone all this time with no pain.... and now I've got pain on both sides.... one must be the port and the other the band? Not really worried, just a bit uncomfortable. My first doctor appointment..... 19 days post-op will be on Wednesday. I'm planning a weekend of mushy food and swimming!!! :wink2: *and to myself and those losing so much weight on the liquid diet.... do not freak out when some of it comes back. Losing so fast is water and waste.... it's the 1 or 2 pound weeks that will stay off for good!! (I hope) **and to my well meaning friend that has never ever been on a diet..... STOP ASKING ME HOW MUCH WEIGHT I'VE LOST!! I'm giving this process MONTHS and YEARS .... not a couple of weeks of starvation. (but I know you mean well )
  2. I'm 9 days out (banded 7/30/10)... and I'm starving!! I have another 5 days of full liquid (no puddings, no cream of wheat, no cream soups...!). Full liquid my behind! Hmm.... do I sound HUNGRY? I'm not sure the doc really put my band in! (kidding.... sort of) How the heck is that woman having a chicken freaking sandwich after 2 weeks? ?! :wink2: *but seeing posts from those 1, 3, 4 years from surgery with no big complications and success is so reasuring! Thank you! I think most people only come to LBT when they are having problems? I've started to worry this is a big mistake. I'm holding my decision for another month or two now!
  3. We're not weak.... we just like our addictions. I made the mistake of posting my smoking status on facebook... now everyone knows! Pressure! *and I don't like pressure! Good luck. I hope that working with your hubby will help. *I started by only smoking outside and standing.... if that helps.
  4. Sorry about the smoking, Christie. It's hard... but the Chantix helps me keep focused... and my teenage boys are so happy. I pray I can do it. I guess my thought is if I'm already unhappy (no eating), why not be truly miserable and stop smoking also. LOL *But a cigarette with my liquids would surely help!
  5. "If Your Stomach Offends You" .... what a great name!! LOL
  6. Christian Bansters.... how lucky am I?! I just wish I had found you when I wan't logging off and going to bed! I'll be back to read tomorrow!! Banded 7/30/2010
  7. Yah!! July Bansters Site!! I've been feeling pretty good.... and HUNGRY since day 3! Liquids just drop through me. So I drink and pee.... sip... drink and pee... sip... LOL I have another week until I can add something more solid. Skim milk has helped... and the Protein powders. *Who knew you could get sick of chocolate??!! Stitches are starting to itch... and I have a pain in my right side sometimes...not sure. **Can you disrupt your port or band by turning over in bed or sitting up.... when you have to use the muscles in your mid-section?*** I want to wear a shirt that says "Don't Poke the Bear ! She gave up Diet Coke, Cigarettes, Popcorn, and food this month. It's not gonna' be pretty!"
  8. How are you doing now??
  9. 4 days post-op I made potato soup (mixed with skim milk)and poured it through a mesh strainer. (the dogs are loving my liquid diet... they get everything in the cans of soups... minus the water or skim milk and flavors that make it through the strainer!). The doctor won't see me until 3 weeks post op .... and the office said "liquids only"... no pudding, no cream of wheat, no cream, no yougurt... but this "semi-liquid" is best I've felt since Friday! I pray I didn't make a mistake.... I added twice the skim milk and strained out all the tiny bits.
  10. uh.....wow. I really hope that isn't normal practice. DO keep us updated. I'm only 6 days out.... but I was unable to get a liquid pain med.for some reason. I had no post-op x-ray (I'm self-pay, and I thought these things were expected and inluded?) And the surgery center was to call and check on me the following day... they called three days later. And now my post-op appointment is 3 weeks after surgery... not at one week and again at two weeks like I thought.
  11. 6 days post-op and I'm just thankful it no longer feels like a drop in an empty well when I drink! I'm on "full liquids".... but this does not include even pudding or cream soups. I'm hungry all the time..... no fear of cream of wheat... I'm just not allowed to have it. I keep thinking the growling of my stomach has to be bad for healing also! LOL But I stopped smoking and I still take my chantix... and my pain meds were not liquid (stupid!)... so I know the tiny chantix pill passes, but the 1/2 loritab was terrible and I had to "chase it" with warm broth. Who knew I was so "fearless"!
  12. I'm 6 days POST-OP and those voices are SCREAMING at me. I am so stinking hungry.... it's 110 degrees and too hot to do much outside... the tv is filled with food..... I don't want anyone to know, so I'm avoiding everyone for now... I'm a bit more relaxed just being reminded that the voices will stop some day soon. *BTW... surgery was fine, the first two days were hard... but every day is better than the last! I only took the pain pill twice (big stupid dry pill... more of a pain to get down then the pain I was trying to end... but sleep would have been nice) *ask for a liquid pain med and have it filled before the surgery! I just wish I could move on to puree or soft foods... anything! hmmm.... that's a lot of stuff from me.... It's late and I guess I'm hungry and tired of being inside for a week. LOL Good luck on the 12th!!
  13. I can't wait to eat either! I'm 4 days down, 10 to go. :blushing: I can't figure out how to start a July Bansters group/Thread. I've lost 11 pounds... but from starving, not fat loss. I thought milkshakes and cream soups/strained were part of the "liquid" diet.
  14. Belly Buttons freak me out.... I made sure he didn't touch mine.... ewww/ouch! *Hope yours heals. :blushing:
  15. I have stitches.... and my doctor doesn't plan to see me again or remove them until the 18th.... that's 20 days post surgery. Should I worry? *off topic..... how do I get my fancy new weight ticker to display with each post?
  16. Oh... I also need a cool weight loss ticker!!
  17. perhaps we can start a "banded July 30th" group?? (Layla's Grandma... you are very comforting!) I have tried to keep my lap-band a private thing.... so I've sent my husband out for slim-fast and some soup. My doctor gave me a list that adds cream of wheat and puddings/yougurt, and cream soups after two weeks. I may starve by then!
  18. so now that I'm home and not going out for a couple of days... what do I send my husband to get for me?
  19. yep... my stomach just growled... liquids suck! Oh, but for a taste of cream of wheat or apple sauce! : )
  20. THANK YOU! I was banded Friday and I'm feeling terrible with this liquid diet... for two weeks? It's like a drop in an empty well! The family is eating and I'm upset. I just keep thinking about a few weeks from now when I will be able to sit at the table with them... and be full after only a few bites.
  21. The carnation instant breakfast is a protein drink.... it just feels like it's dropping 100 feet into an empty well.... LOL Two days since the surgery... I'm feeling a little better. I am a little confused about taking off the bandaids/leaving on the steri-strips and showering. I thought I had this all figured out before the surgery! LOL
  22. I was banded yesterday.... 36 hours ago. I'm sore, it's so hard to sit up if I lay in the bed... and I'm hungry. I really hope the next couple of days get better. The first day was terrible... I only stayed about 3 hours after my surgery. Carnation Instant breakfast is working out okay.. and broth.
  23. Just wondering... Are you still happy with your decision??
