  1. Today is day 1 of a liquid diet that I was put on yesterday after getting my pre-op testing results from my surgeon. There was no warning and therefore I didnt think to go all out for my "last meal". I am hungry...so far, I have had 3 protein shakes, which amounts to 500 calories and 60 carbs...can you say starving? I realize that my belly is not growling, however I do feel just a tad light headed and just want the day to be over. I don't know how people do this for 2 weeks but I know that my 6 days will be torture.
  2. No you are not being sensitive, this is a new process and its hard in the beginning. If your friend is having a dinner party, maybe you can come after they finish eating dinner and its time to hang out so you won't have to explain why you are not eating or be tempted to eat.
  3. A lot of emotions do run through your mind when considering lapband surgery as its a HUGE step. I am like you and have been heavy all of my life and I always joke and say if I am vain as a big girl, what will happen after a 100 pound lose..lol. You should tell your plus size friends as they may secretly feel the same way. I had a plus size friend who was against surgery but now as I approach my date and she listens to my process has now decided to go to a seminar. As for the killer wardrobe, I hear ya...my cousins already told me that she wants to be called first when I can't fit my clothes anymore but the good news is that its an excuse to SHOP!!! good luck!
  4. Hi ladies...I am not getting banded at NYU but I am getting banded on 7/26 at Englewood Hospital in NJ. I go for my pre-op testing this Friday and I have already been warned that I have a loooooooooooong day ahead. I havent been put on a pre-op diet because my date was just pushed up and so based on the results I may be on a one week pre-op diet. Good luck!
  5. Yes, its a damn good feeling!!! Good for you!
  6. Good luck! You are probably already banded by now and hopefully everything went well!
  7. I don't plan to tell anyone at work. I told my boss that I have to have a minor procedure and need to be out for a week and she approved it with no questions. I am at a new job and don't feel obligated to share my personal information with anyone at this point. As I lose weight, I will just say its diet and exercise because it will be.
  8. 54 pounds in 6 months sounds fantastic to me! Great job and happy losing to you.
  9. My date is July 26th and I am beyond excited!!
  10. lol@pickles123- I should have thought to buy a lottery ticket!
  11. So my orginial date was 8/12 but once I got approved on June 25th, I have been calling my surgical coordinator every few weeks to see if there were sooner dates, so far no luck...UNTIL TODAY! I called to ask a question about something else and she assumed it was my weekly check in and told me that she had good news, my date will be July 26 and now its time to rush and get pre-op testing done, etc. I am so freaking nervous but excited that my journey is going to start sooner than I thought!
  12. I can completely understand how the waiting can make you sick! I was a nervous wreck throughout my approval process and stalked everyone from the insruance company to the doctors office. Don't worry, the good news will come soon!
  13. The nutritionist basically just walked me through the first few stages of diet after the surgery. She explained what Vitamins and Protein Shakes I will need to take/drink and that was that. The psychologist gave me a weight loss survey and basically asked a lot of questions about my history of being obese and why I wanted the surgery. The psychologist basically just wants to determine that you are choosing to have the surgery for the right reasons and that you don't have any underlying psychological issues that would interfere with the surgery. Good luck!
  14. @Elky, I am glad that you found the tool that will work best for you and good luck on your upcoming surgery!
  15. It can't hurt to journal if that helps you and worst case scernio, you just don't give it to the doctors office.
  16. Thanks Jamie! Have you checked on the status of your approval? (fingers crossed)
  17. Elky, I feel like you..."allergic" to carbs. I too realize that if I strictly limit my carbs then I can lose weight but nothing else has ever worked and the few pounds I lose come back. Do you plan to get banded?
  18. APPROVED 6/25@ 10AM!!! God is so good and I feel soooooooo relieved now and ready to get my "band on"...lol. Thanks for all the supporters that helped to keep me calm.
  19. I am glad that you are starting to see progress now that you got another fill. I too have PCOS and can relate to always being heavy. 53 pounds is a big feat even if its not where you'd hope to be by now. Keep looking forward and working toward the new you...GL!
  20. I just wanted to say congrats on your approval and good luck with your upcoming surgery!
  21. Update: I havent gotten the final word, however the case worker at the insurance company told me that she recommeded approval for my case and because of the type of plan that I have it has to also be reviewed by the medical director but he has yet to disagree with her ruling. so she she says "don't pop the bottle but you can go buy it!" Still waiting but feeling good about it now!
  22. That does sound like a long rough road but you made it and thats exciting to hear! Good luck!
  23. damn...nothing to eat or drink all day?!? I am sure alittle hunger will be worth it! Good luck!
  24. @MDX, I did catch up on your post and I am glad everything eventually worked out! BTW- I have had 2 additional visits with my doctor after the supervised diet and I included those notes as well so hopefully they will count even though they are not consecutive. My case is actually interesting because the insurance company has been extremely helpful but its the doctors office that is dragging ass.
