  1. One thing I've noticed since losing weight... I no longer get gawked at by children. It's like I'm a normal person, still largely overweight but not like, "*pointing* omfg mommy look at that!! ".

  2. Thanks hun! Wow 50lbs? Thats a mighty big challenge you have for yourself! I'm scared of you! ;) I hear you though because though my weight loss is becoming more apparent it has definitely slowed down on the scale. =( But anything other than up is still a victory to me! Im trying to jumpstart myself again but it's a constant battle. Hope you reach your 2011 goals but either way you look good!

  3. Hi there. You're looking great! I saw your progress pictures. It has been slow and steady but at a stand still at the moment. I just have to get back into the groove of things. I'm hoping to lose at least another 50lb or more before Christmas!

  4. Hey there fellow san diegan! Hows it going? Hope all is well and you continue to be successful in your weight loss!

  7. Hey! Just checking in to see how you're doing and your progress? I've been steadily losing but not as much as I'd like. My fault though, been lazy and not eating great. I'm currently on my second fill and feeling restriction. At times it feels like I can eat anything then the next meal it's back to good'ol restricted feeling, haha! Let me know!

    Looking for support

Hi Emmie, I'm sorry your mom is not being supportive. Did she explain why? My mother was the same at first. She just didn't understand why I would want to do this because she felt as though I was taking the easy way out. When I explained it to her that it's a tool and not an easy fix, that I was still going to have to work hard, she started to understand better. I think if you were to educate her as much as you educated yourself to make this decision she may start to understand and be a little more supportive. I hope this helps..
  10. You go, girl. You have a fascinating story and I'm so glad you decided to go for it and have the surgery.

  11. I am scheduled for my first fill in a few days, but these last few weeks it feels like I can eat anything and everything. Definitely not as much as I could eat before the band but a lot more than what I was advised to eat, 4-6 oz per meal. I was told to stop eating when I feel 'full' but there are days where I just don't know if I'm actually full yet. I know once I get my first fill this will change, but since I'm currently unfilled, will eating a little more than what was recommended damage anything? Band slipping, pouch stretching? Also, I noticed there are times I forget that I have to chew chew chew and I accidentally swallow a large bite, but I don't feel any effects. I get afraid I'm at least going to feel pain, but nothing..

    How long after surgery ....

Took me about 15 days, but I wasn't too worried because I pretty much didn't eat anything for the first 5 days, then I was on Clear liquids for the next 2 weeks.

    Can you answer this question?????

Typically when you see the dietitian they will put you on a diet to start your progress of losing weight and changing your eating habits and life style. My doctor required me to lose about 40lbs before they would operate, mainly because you're healthier and it'll help with the surgery and recovery. I was weighed every visit. I asked the same question of my doctor about losing weight before the surgery, if I'll get denied because I can apparently lose weight by diet and exercise, but he said that they don't care as long as your BMI meets the requirement and you have health issues due to the weight. Although this may be different depending on your Insurance.
  14. I'm glad to hearing you're doing well. I hope your port pain goes away soon. Take it easy, I'd hate for you to have the pain I'm experiencing.

  15. I feeling almost normal except for a little bit a pain on my port side whenever i strech or move to fast. I'm eating mushies also and am very happy to be getting back to actual foodd :)
