  1. Reverie, thank you. I sure hope so... because I am struggling.
  2. This is my second day... and I feel like I am dying. Someone PLEASE tell me that itll get better as time goes on? I hate feeling hungry all the time. I can handle not eating, if only the shakes would be more filling. I can have 5 opti-fast shakes a day... each 8oz. I drink one every 3 hours... and I can barely make the 3 hours. Last night at 11pm I was having hunger cramps so bad that I had an extra shake. I am allowed sugar free jello and popcicles... but my goodness. I drink a lot of water... but this hunger feeling is horrible.
  3. Bonitachica, I have insurance, but I am self-pay. BC my BMI is under 40, I did not qualify for coverage. Those 3 months will pass by quickly! Congrats on taking the first step. During those three months you will be doing different things to qualify you, so it will go by quickly.
  4. Congrats! I am banded June 3rd. Are you on a liquid diet yet? I am sure you will do GREAT! :cursing:
  5. Jennifer, Yes! I am also excited and nervous. To be honest, it really hasnt hit me yet. I think it will closer to the date. The only thing I am nervous about is the surgery itself. I think everything else I can handle. I also am nervous about the results. I want this to work... and I am 99 % positive it will. If I work it right, I shouldnt have any problems. However, I am not enjoying this liquid diet right now..
  6. I am sched for June 3rd and i start my pre-op liquid diet tomorrow! Eeeeeeek! I am not looking forward to this... but I am looking at the bigger picture. Whew! Taking one day at a time!
  7. :rolleyes2:I am going to be banded on June 3rd... and I would like to have a band buddy!
  8. I am being banded June 3rd in Tampa Fl, Tampa Memorial. I am super excited. I am ready to get this liquid diet out of the way though.
  9. Maja, I believe my process went so fast because I am a self-pay patient. I only had to have a psych eval and I see my nutritionist on Wednesday (may 19th), to bascially discuss my pre-op diet. I attended 1 support group on my own... and plan to keep attending them. They are only once a month. My liquid diet is opti-fast and other liquids.. like Water /crystal light... sugar free Jello and popcicles. Your doctor isnt providing you with the opti-fast? I heard of a website called: Bariatric Choice. Best Bariatric Surgery Diet supplements, Bariatric Foods, Vitamins for Bariatric Eating When you click the link... look toward the top left corner and youll see a tab that says Bariatric Diet Kits. Click on the 2 week kit... and they give you a diet to follow for 2 weeks and also the kit to buy for 149.00 which is about the same amount i am paying my dr for opti-fast. OPTIFAST - weight loss, weight management, improved health, renewed energy and self esteem This website allows you to find an optifast clinic around you. It just kinda shocks me that your dr does not provide this for you... I can see how it would be hard to find anything. Let me know what you find out. I am super excited about the time closing in.. I am trying to get all my favorite foods out of the way... so I can mentally prepare for this liquid diet mess for 2 weeks lol. I am a preschool teacher... so cooking for them and feeding them will be hard. While at home, I live with a roomate... So at least I won't have to cook for anyone.
  10. My surgery date is June 3rd and I have questioned myself as well. I think its normal. But somethings that motivated me was reading success stories on this site as well as looking at other's before and after pictures. I was going to have this surgery when I was 18 years old... but I backed out. If i would have gotton the surgery when I was 18... I would be in a much better physical state right now. So I am not waiting any longer... Im ready to have a new me! Try reading success stories... and any questions or concerns talking to your dr can really help. Or even talking to the people on this site is quite helpful.
  11. Well all my worries are set aside... for now! LOL. My consultation was May 10th... which went great. My psych evaluation was also May 10th. I have my dietician appointment on May 19th. I also start my 2 week liquid diet on May 19th. My pre-op is June 1st... and my surgery is June 3rd. Things are moving rapidly... and it hasn’t hit me yet. I am trying to enjoy my favorite foods for now... sensibly. I am excited! Anyone else have a June 3rd date? Perhaps we can help each other get through hard times together... since we will be going through it together.
  12. Congrats! I have my surgery on June 3rd too  and I start my 2 week liquid diet next week wednesday. Looks like we are taking this journey at the same time.
  13. LeighaMason, Thank you, that does make me feel better. I do plan on being very honest, because I don't want to have any regrets. Thanx again!
  14. Happymom, Thank you for responding. I am not worried about insurance because I am a self pay patient. I am more concerned with the Dr. not approving. Maybe I am just too nervous lol.
  15. I am 25 years old and I have struggled with my weight for most of my life. I called and scheduled my consultation for May 10th. The nurse was very helpful, and she took a lot of information on me prior to making an appointment for me. I am 5'6 and 235lbs. I have a hard time losing weight, and I have done several diets that have failed. My BMI is 37 or 38 I can’t remember which she said. However, I suffer from 3 herniated disks in my lower back, shoulder pain, knee pain, and my right ribs are a bit inflamed. My primary doctor tells me all these ailments will ease with weight loss. I am so excited about this surgery... yet so nervous the dr will tell me that I am not "big" enough. I know to qualify you must have a BMI of 35 with medical conditions or have a BMI of 40+. I wonder if my back qualifies as medical? When the nurse told me my BMI, she asked if I have any ailments due to my weight and I told her all of the above. She then booked my appointment. I asked her if he ever turns anyone away. And she said it’s VERY rare, and mainly because of severe medical problems. What do yhall think? Do you think with my BMI and ailments that I can qualify? I’m so nervous... I look forward to this. I have attended support groups / meetings, been reading on this website, and I even set up my psychologist appointment 2 hours after my consultation. Opinions?
