Sleeved on Monday
Well first off welcome home and congrats on having a safe surgery! Welcome to the other side. Secondly I would like to personally stab that nurse in the gullet just for you right now. What a horses a*s, I am so sorry you had to have that experience during your recovery. It is so emotional to start with but I would think about writing a strongly worded letter to his superiors once you have recovered a bit. Moving forward I would like to wish you a speedy recovery and don't be alarmed if you have some more ups and downs. Keep as positive as possible and if you need to vent....this is the place to come!

Post-op diet - not enough calories?
I agree with all above posters, the first couple weeks I maybe got 400 calories but that was because I was not feeling the shakes etc and I just wasn't able to get much down but as soon as I could move on to pureed/soft foods I was able to start getting more. Then when I reached the "normal" foods area I was tracking my foods and trying to stay around 800 or so and now I get around 800-1000 depending on the day. I don't track it I can sort of do it all in my head and I know when I have eaten too many calories (THANK YOU HALLOWEEN CANDY lol) but there is no way I would stick with a 600 calorie diet for any amount of time. It is counter productive and unnecessary IMO, we need to feed it with good foods but lets not starve it. I like the thought that I am not really "dieting" I am just eating healthier and eating small portions. It is wonderful. Also I was exhausted post op and depressed. As someone mentioned above it happens a lot with anesthesia plus add on top of it the calorie restriction we have forced on our bodies suddenly. Hope you feel more energy soon!

Trapped Air
Wow that sounds horribly painful and irritating! yikes. If it is trapped air you may try taking a warm shower then getting out and laying flat on your stomach on the bed or maybe on your knees curled up with a pillow under your abdomen. My mom runs marathons and the Beans they pop for potassium and stuff while they run causes some major tummy gas and after a marathon she always will lay flat on the bed until it is relieved. Plus on the belly is how I always had to lay my babies when they had colic. Maybe I am shooting in the dark but thats what I would try lol. I hope you figure out what is causing it.

Pictures of my progress thus far!
TY! It is freaky to put the befores up..my face was soooo beefy. YIKES It also just hit me that those pics were taken before I went on my first trip to have the VSG (the scary near death incident) and I came home and gained around 15 more pounds after those pictures before I actually had the VSG 2 months after that first trip. I was going to just go to 145 which would be right at the "normal" BMI for me and that is only 15 pounds away, but seeing the pics I still think I can stand to lose at least 20+ ...im still pretty fluffy through the middle and the backside...though I dont want to lose all of that part hehe. I am not sure at 5'4" what weighing 135 would put me at BMI'wise but it might be where I am heading.

First Procedure
The TT can be quite painful because they peel back the skin all the way up your abodmen and then stitch the muscles all the way down the abdomen tightly. It swells quite a bit and the bruising is internal also, plus the incision hip to hip is bothersome and they pull the skin very taut. It takes quite a while before you can sleep on your side or stomach (a lot longer then the VSG). I handled it fine but I can honestly say I have a pretty good pain tolerance, I wouldn't even catagorize the VSG as painful (at least for me). I had vaginal births with my two children so I can't say how a TT would compare to C section pain. They give you good pain meds after a TT so that could be why I didn't feel it was that painful lol. I will never take percocet again...can you say HALLUCINATIONS! LOL. The doc switched me to some vicodin and I took those for about 14 days post op and in between I would alternate with ibuprofen in between doses the first 7 days. It takes a while before you can lift heavy objects and my incision line still feels funny when i touch it (sorta numb). My belly button was the weirdest thing though and even now when I take a qtip to clean it...it feels so crazy and half numb. I cringe every time i do it lol. Also if you do any sort of abdominal lipo along with the TT that will add to the bruising, swelling and overall pain i would guess.

First Procedure
Did anyone catch The Doctors yesterday? The new TICKLE LIPO? Holy cow I think I might have to try some of that. It is done under local anesthesia which god knows I will try to stick to in the future lol. Here is a link to a Youtube video of it being performed. I think if I had it done I might see about having the fat transferred into my breasts for fullness. It could be a win win situation! infrasonic liposuction or TICKLE LIPO http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Mu24bTsdps

what is going ON!!!
Globetrotter, I feel your pain! I know it has to be frustrating but try to stay calm. I tend to lose weight around day 11-14 after my last weigh in. I usually weigh each friday but only officially count the weight loss of every two weeks. I know everyone is different and some see weight loss weekly and others dont. Like you said there is no sense or reason or formula other then what you are already doing and that is getting exercise, counting calories and getting your fluids so just be patient (I know you have been frustrated for a while so that could be easier said then done), but just decide to pump up the intensitiy in your exercise...walk some stairs or something for an extra 5-10 minutes and keep doing what you are doing. Maybe only weigh in every other week or every three weeks. Just try to relax and by all means keep us posted!
