  1. Ohhh and that Florida heat kicks our California heat in the A$$. I flew into Miami one July after leaving 103 degree heat in California, I was so excited when the pilot announced the temperature in Miami was 83 degrees when we arrived at 7 p.m. Then I took one step out of the airport and almost passed out. The air was so thick and heavy. I had never experienced humidity like that. I was thankful for my dry 103 degrees when I came back to California lol.
  2. Well SH*T, I have been worrying that this same thing may be happening to me also. I think I can eat wayyy to much for my 6 week post op status. Compared to what most of the "successful" sleevers report being able to eat, my appettite is huge. Don't get me wrong I get full on a lot less then I used to but I can still eat a fairly large amount. The other day I ate a half a small sub sandwhich from Port of Subs. I was pretty full but I figure most people at my stage couldn't eat that. I worry I am going to stretch it. I wondered also if it did happen if for some reason my surgeons pouch was not small enough if it could be revised. That is looking like it is not the case huh? Your avatar pic looks great. Hopefully you have not had a regain.
  3. I started off the same way and now six weeks out i can finish a half a can of soup or 3/4 of a small taco or burrito. The drinking has gotten easier also. I can sit and drink rather normally now. It depends on the food I am eating as to how much I can eat. I am not hungry in between meals now though. I was eating half as much at each sitting but I was getting hungry every 3 hours, now i finish a bit more but have no desire to snack etc. I find though the more i exercise the hungrier I am...so that is a double edged sword lol.
  4. Besides the obvious need to call the doctor. Have you ruled out anxiety attack? They have similar symptoms and can often come on suddenly after having surgery. The lack of sleep and the chest pain along with your general tone (if i am gauging correctly) sounds to me similar to what I was feeling after surgery and since I deal with anxiety attacks on occasion I knew what to look for and as soon as I took a half an ativan, my chest calmed down and I was able to rest. I am not sure this is the case for you but don't rule out the possibility.
  5. Best wishes to you for a safe and swift recovery. You are going to do great.
  6. mp8btpc replied to chilo1's topic in The Gals' Room
Congrats Chilo! I bet you looked wonderful and I can tell you felt wonderful. That is what it is all about.
  7. So awesome! You keep up the great work.
  8. Congrats! Nothing wrong with slow and steady.
  9. Awesome! You are on your way.
  10. I would have her up the intensity of her exercise. Find a challenging road with hills or go run the stairs at the local football field. I think just one to two days of high intensity would do the trick. Ive seen people go to the local park that has a slope down into the softball field and walk around it but go up and down the slope as they walk around the park. She can even do it at a slow pace just make the course a little more difficult. Just an idea.
  11. Well after my puking episode I didn't eat for 12 or so hours at least. I finally had a couple crackers then worked over the next two days to start eating again. Maybe I will try to start a different PPI. I know even after I call doctor it will take a couple days to get in, he is really busy. It is gurgling right now and burning. It really blows.
  12. It stinks but at same time having an answer is better then being left trying to figure out what the heck is going on huh? Hope things work out and you can get those pounds you want off!
  13. I didnt worry about protein or calories the first two weeks. For me it was all about hydration also. If you can get it in then awesome. Just getting my fluids was a booger at first.
  14. Welcome Clive, Congrats on starting the journey. Keep us posted and feel free to lay out the questions that might be on your mind.
  15. I totally agree with the restlessness! OMG at the hospital I felt like I couldn't wait to run out of that place. It felt like the walls were closing in. Thank god I took my anti anxiety meds with me and the doc let me take it on the second day. I noticed as soon as it kicked in the less discomfort I seemed to be in also. Those helped so much and when I got home I took about 400 showers a day. I would sit in the bottom of the shower and just let the water beat on me. It is totally relaxing.
  16. Cool will take a look at it! Always fun to follow the journey.
  17. So I was rolling along using my Prilosec OTC and I had a few acid issues, especially late in the evening but nothing horrible. Then last Friday my son came home from school with a stomach virus and he threw up off and on for around 7 hours, then bounced up the next morning running around like nothing had been wrong. Though his appetite was a little smaller that next day. I woke up in middle of Saturday night puking my brains out, felt like I got the crap beat out of me, like someone had poisoned my whole body it hurt so bad. It lasted me much longer then 8 hours. I was still working on getting my strength back 4 days later. Then my hubby caught it and yada yada yada. Here is the kicker, since I had that virus my stomach acid is in overdrive. Seriously I can feel it in there all thick and gross and it burns and churns. It is making me feel constantly nauseated. I took two Prilosec yesterday and I am hoping that taking two a day (I previously had permission to from doc but it was hard to take twice on empty tummy) I am hoping it will get it under control. My question is what the hell happened? Is it going to clear up, is it residual from the virus, could it be my gall bladder? Has anyone else had a bad stomach virus soon after the sleeve and does it just take longer to get straightened out? I am giving it till Monday and then I will call my GP and go see him since he is handling my aftercare. I just wondered if anyone else had this happen? <---(thats what i feel like I could spit from my stomach lol)
  18. Biweekly Friday weigh in Starting weight 199 current weight 169 NOT BAD FOR 6 WEEKS! woot woot
  19. I don't know if they has anything to do with it but every morning I wake up to that. When my tummy is empty it lets me know it wants some damn food. It stops being such a pain as soon as a drink a glass of water and take my PPI. It is still hungry but less sharp about the pains.
  20. I am so sorry people can be harsh. I agree with Goodlife, some counseling would be good for you to help start looking at some deeper issues and help you work the band. Last but not least, people treat us the way we allow them too. I firmly believe that. I mean I also believe they respond to the way we treat them and thus we should be polite and as obliging as possible. I have no problem just avoiding those I do not care for and if I am forced to deal with them in the office I can keep it professional because when it comes down to it. My opinion of them does not matter. It is work (PERIOD). However I will not allow someone to treat me in a derogatory manner. You need to work on standing up for yourself and pointing out to them that they are being a horses ass (without making a scene in the office if possible). food isn't the answer (though I DO LOVE ME SOME DONUTS!)
  21. Heck no I haven't even lost all the weight I am going to lose and I am barely 5 1/2 weeks out and I can tell you I see things looking up. Can it make you happier HELL YA. Will it solve SOME problems FOR SURE. Will it pay the bills? Well maybe if you turn it into some carreer (work that pole JUST KIDDING) but who knows the added confidence may motivate you to try for that promotion...or leave a job your comfortable at and get out of comfort zone and make more dough. The possibilities are endless when you make healthy changes in your life. I think in another thread someone who had high BMI but no comorbidities asked if she was a healthy large person should she be having surgery. I challenged her to just ask herself if it will improve the quality of her life. I think for all of us the answer is yes. The answers are personal and it may mean something different for each person. So yes it can make your happier, stronger and possibly more fullfilled.
  22. Welcome to the forum and congrats on your decision. It is wonderful that you and Crafty are local and can meet. That will be a great support. I had surgery at a lower BMI and had no comorbidities. I just constantly yo'yo dieted and could easily have gained more and more. I knew I was torturing myself and my body by the abuse of diet pills and up and down weight fluctuations. Plus I was just damn tired of getting to a certain spot and not pushing forward. I felt like I was running in place. 125 pounds is a pretty good amount of weight to be carrying. I think it is inevitable that you would probably gain more and some comorbidities but I am no doctor. I also challenge you to ask yourself. Would losing this weight improve the quality of your life? Would you have more energy. Are there things that your weight prevents you from doing physically. Or perhaps you don't allow yourself to do them because of your weight. Camping, swim parks, amusement parks, picnics, doing things with your children? Yard work. Are there some projects that you would like to do but just don't have the extra energy. Just some food for thought.
  23. 4ROmatl: I am so sorry that you have had this response to the surgery. You are correct this surgery isn't the answer to all lifes problems or even all weight issues. People need to think about it long and hard. I can imagine that if I was having the difficulty you were having that I would feel the same way. I hope that the nausea and other issues clear up and that you are able to live normally. I can state from my own experience that I feel 100% like my old pre-op self only I can't eat a whole lot but I do crave food that is better for me and make better choices. Thank you though for putting out there the other side of the coin. I think it is always important for people to understand that no weight loss surgery is all roses and candy.
  24. I started at 199 I am 5'4(almost) and I weighed yesterday and I weigh 169. I wont update my ticker until friday which is my official weigh in date. The last two weeks I have lost a ton which is almost unheard of for lower BMI'ers. I have been tracking my food I try to get between 750-900 calories a day. I get my 70 gram of Protein. I don't really stress on the carbs I just like them under 50 and I don't get them from white breads or Pasta normally. I did have a slice of pizza and a bite of cake at my sons birthday party. I exercise a few days a week for 45 minutes on the treadmill and I have been doing one day a week of extreme fitness, where I go walk this hill up and over and back. It takes about an hour and fifteen minutes and burns around 800-900 calories. It is great toning for the legs too. It is not easy, I feel like I am having to work but I feel full with very little so that helps a TON. I just know now while I watch what I eat and do the exercise it is not futile. It makes a big difference.
