Let's talk barbque
Ohh i have not seen those liners but I am surely going to look for some. I HATE cleaning the crock pot. Also I LOVES ME SOME SWEET BABY RAYS sauce! I am going to make this next week for sure! One item I love is the zip and steam bags from Zip Lock for veggies. You can wash and reuse them quite a few times. I can make a lunch size portion of broccoli in like 3 minutes. I just wash the broccoli shake off the excess and lightly salt it before I put it in the bag and toss it in the micro and whamo, great steamed broccoli in a jif. It works great on canned veggies also. I just drain the juice and toss em in the bag.

finally have my date
Congrats on getting a date for your surgery! Yay and for also getting one of your last presleeve meals to be Thanksgiving feast! Awesome! Your daughter has done so well so kudos to her. I hope that you get a great resolution for her. Since she is so thin maybe she has learned to eat less portions and could actually do without the surgery or at least let it play out a year or so and see if she has had much gain. I would probably do that if it was me. I can understand though why she would be scared to not have some tool in place after losing all that weight. Keep us posted and again congrats and enjoy Thanksgiving portions ...eat some extra for me please?

Post-Op Vegas trip... HELP!!!!
Good question I was thinking about that the other day (i dont have any tattoos) but I was watching Pawn Stars and the owners son has quite a few and my mind wandered around to I wonder how all his tattoos would look if he lost weight. Strange how I want everyone to have the sleeve now lol. I hope that doesn't sound bad like I am intolerant of people with weight issues. I just think for those who are struggling with weight issues they can't solve it would be great if everyone who wanted it could get it. Random rambling....sorry lol

Feeling a little uneasy...
Well if you don't mind sharing with us when you get the full information on why it was denied. There has been some great advice given on appeal letters etc. Some ladies have had a successful time of it. So if you haven't already posted something regarding it. Keep it in mind. The site here can be very helpful. p.s Im sorry to hear about the denial but hopefully it is just a starting point.

Delicious Pinto Beans!
I love pinto Beans, they are a low fat meal and have a decent amount of Protein. Plus they taste great on a winter day! I like to make them the day before I plan on eating them, the tastes just seem to marry overnight. 4 cans of pinto beans (I like to buy sun vista or any other mexican food brand) 1/4 of a small white onion diced 1 small clove of garlic minced garlic salt to taste Take your diced onion and garlic and pour a tiny bit of juice from one of the cans of pinto beans into your cooking pan. Sweat them on low for two or three minutes getting them nice and soft. Pour in all the beans and juice from the cans. Cover pan with lid and cook low and slow for 45 minutes. I add garlic salt while cooking usually about two teaspoons. When in a hurry i have cooked a smaller batch on a bit higher of heat for 20 minutes or so and it worked fine for a meal. After the cook I will have a small bowl and put the rest in the fridge and reheat the next day. They taste even better then. Lightly brown a couple corn tortillas in a grease free cast Iron skillet and serve up on the side.

Ladies PMS question
I have taken ibuprofen for my menstrual issues since having the sleeve. I however can not take Aleve it does weird things to my period. It always has, it makes me stop bleeding mid cycle then suddenly two weeks later my period would start again (though it worked awesome on the cramps lol). I brough it up to my doctor years ago and he said that Aleve is actually prescribed to women who experience episodes of heavy menstrual bleeding for days on end. It will in a lot of women stop their bleeding. It also has been linked to possibly messing with fertility in women. I found this article about it on a fertility website: Fertility Plus Also this: Precautions related to fertility The use of naproxen, as with any drug known to inhibit cyclooxygenase/prostaglandin synthesis, may impair fertility and is not recommended in women attempting to conceive. In women who have difficulty conceiving or are undergoing investigation of infertility, withdrawal of naproxen should be considered.

cant sleep well
Wow that's a whole lot of benadryl. The active ingedient in most of those over the counter sleep aids including tylenol PM's is the anahistamine that is Benadryl (diphenhydramine). Maybe too much wired you up?

1 month post op stats!
Congrats to you! 8 inches off the waist has got to make a big difference already in clothing fit. That is so awesome. I always know that Dr. Aceves patients are going to have great results. I don't know if it is his technique or program in general but whatever he does ....rocks!

PreOp Liquid Diet KILLING ME!!!
I had to do a pre-op diet for about 7 days and the day before my surgery I called to ask the Nut there if I could please have something more substantial as my last meal. She gave me the go ahead for soup and salad, I had refried beans and tortillas lol. I have to say though that post op dieting was A TON easier then pre-op phase because I did not feel so great after surgery and could fit very little down and was full with the liquids. I was more the ready by the time stage two came around for those mushies and those kept me full and happy too. I am now 14 weeks out and having head hunger more often, I think it is because of the time of the year and such. I just think pre-op you don't have the tool to make eating less satisfying so it is a lot easier, hunger wise, to do the post op.

Interesting BMI calculator uses male/female/age
It told me at my goal weight of 145 (thats my personal keep it curvy goal) I am still in the 50th percentile. If I wanted to be in the 10% I would have to weigh like 115 pounds. YIKES. lol

watch for some antibiotics
ohh TIffy, my sister had to take some Levaquin for a really resistent bladder infection and that stuff messed her up psychologically for a bit and she only took like 3 doses of it. It made her trip out and this other girl I know was prescribed it for a port incision infection from her lap band and low-and-behold she ended up taking off work for a week after one dose screwed her up mentally. When I got an incision infection I went for the cipro...I was like NO Levaquin!

Clothing
I have been buying lee jeans from khols they are only $22 dollars when I have a 30% coupon and WalMart has some that are Lee Riders that are only $15-18 bucks. I think Old Navy also has some inexpensive jeans. I would just buy one or two at a time. I bought three of size 12 a few months back and two weeks later had to get 10s so I got one pair and I actually put the 12's in the dryer (which I never do) and turned em on high to shrink up a bit just to wear them. Now the 10's are getting loose and I had to take back a new pair to get an 8 but of course they were out of the 8's so I will try again next week! I also can get inexpensive glitter t's (I am addicted to them) at Target and stuff. I love H&M for affordable office appropriate items. You could try Ross and Marshalls for some other things to get you through especially if you need work attire. Though this time of year those places are a wreck once Thanksgiving hits. Ohhh also I was in costco the other day and they had dress pants by Liz Claiborne for like 18 bucks. If I was working still I would have grabbed a grey and black to get through till the next size.

Doctor begs me not to have LapBand 2 weeks prior to surgery!
I started my research looking at lapband talk forum and people were mentioning this procedure called the sleeve. It also was popping up on the advertisements on that board. So I got curious and it did not take me long to decide that FOR ME this was the procedure. It was just a no brainer for my situation. I was no interested in the upkeep that may or may not be necessary for the band. Fills then unfills, more fills, where is that darn sweet spot and then the corrosion, slippage issues that are possible. I loved that with the sleeve once you sleeve and recover you are pretty free and clear of complications. 14 weeks later I have lost 42 pounds and am within 15 of my goal! My BMI was 34 and is now at a 27 and getting lower every day! It is not all sugar and spice, you still have to be prepared for the portion sizes and work the sleeve but it is nice to just go along rather normally only eating smaller portions and getting some much needed exercise.

Sooo... How are you today?

Thanksgiving - What is going to be hardest for you?
I am far enough post op that I have to admit I wish I could slacken the belly restriction and pig out. I am not going to lie, I am the one who helped my mom makes sure that all of our families favorite foods will be on hand. I want to eat it all dangit but I know I am going to have to pick and choose and even then it wont be much. I know I know I am supposed to be ohhhh so glad I can't binge but I will admit I am not. I am glad on a daily basis that my sleeve keeps me in check but as for every now and then ...nope I wish I could shovel it down. I guess those occasions were too often given my pre surgery weight was creeping up by leaps and bounds lol. I am very very thankful for my sleeve though. I really am. It is just that my brain really really still likes food and quite honestly wants me to eat more then my belly allows. The menu goes as follows: Deep pit turkey Ham Chilli Beans (my mom makes killer chilli beans) cornbread stuffing mashed potatoes gravy salad rice pilaf green beans with bacon cheesey hash brown potatoe bake rolls cranberry sauce sweet potatoes pumpkin pie sex in a pan (aka the chocolate pudding dessert) apple pie pecan pie Now how the heck am I supposed to choose? Suprisingly other then my grandma nobody else is really over weight. All eyes on the girl who had surgery though. Thanks a lot to my grandma for telling everyone about my surgery. After reading the above comments though I am very thankful that my family is supportive rather then critical. Good luck to all you sleevers and enjoy the day as much as you possibly can. You/I did something wonderful for ourselves with this surgery and though it has its mixed blessings sometimes, it is such a gift and we all deserve it.
