First Procedure
Chilo, yes I had a TT in August 2007 though I was about 180 pounds at time of surgery. I did not do any lipo because I had planned on losing some weight and thought I would do it along with possibly having my breasts done. Well until now I never lost a significant amount of weight so I didn't go through with the next step. I will probably do a little tummy lipo if I have my breasts done this spring. The TT is another surgery I don't regret having...it looks even better now that I am smaller. YAY.

Hair is seriously shedding!!!
I will be going for my next hair appt the week after xmas and I think my girl is gonna freak out if all my hair starts coming out in her hands! I think because I have long hair it is even more noticeable when it is wrapped around everthing from the towels when I get them out of the dryer to long strands hanging from my jacket every day. I hope you guys are right and that I can expect about another 2 months max of this crud. I mean I love the sleeve and I will take some hair loss heck I cant really even tell in my hair texture because I have plenty left but the hair all over the place is nuts. I am pickin up one of those travel size sticky tape rollers for my purse tomorrow.

2 questions
I did not weigh until the two week mark. I wanted to make sure I had some sort of chance to lose the dreaded iv Fluid gain. I started having loose stools on day 3 and pretty much the consistency of my stools followed the consistency of the stage of the diets I was at, around day 15 or so I started getting back to normal. I figured it was like my body flushing out all the junk.

Where my girls at???
Ya makemeheal.com is a good one. I did a lot of research and posting there when I had my TT a few years ago.

Hair is seriously shedding!!!
Chilo I am with you girl. Mine is coming out in clumps, I wash every other day and when I wash I run my hand down the bottom and a huge glob comes out. Then I will brush through easily with a wide tooth comb and it leaves a big hairball mess. Then by the time I try to do something with it, it is all over my clothes. I am now staying in the buff until I am all done with the hair and then putting my clothes on just so it is not all over me. I sweep up big piles of it from the bathroom floor every couple of days. I am finding it all over the house and even though I pull it back while I am cooking and doing dishes it is all over the place. It is sickening and quite frankly gross to have your hair falling everywhere. Between me and my stinking cat the house needs a giant sticky sheet taken to it to pick up all the hair. Grr ...i feel ya.

I need to tell my sister
I am glad to hear that it didn't go as badly as it could lol. I think you are making strides and I am proud of her for not totally flipping her lid. Just keep making the choices that you feel are best. Only you can know what those are. Good job though!

VSG or Plication
I agree with Sleeveorbust, it just seems so similar to the stomach stapling that I knew I wanted something different. Plus at this point there is so little data on it I knew I didn't want to spend my cash on something until I was assured of the results. I think plication sounds like a great alternative but the jury is still out in my book. I would never fault someone who wanted to give it a go though. I don't regret my sleeve at all.

Another NSV
Those are all amazing and having bleeding constantly has to be the biggest pain in the butt plus it is just plain not "normal", I am glad you are getting all your systems back on track that is great news. Top it off with losing that percentage of weight and getting off some meds, is never tiring for me to hear. Keep sharing it is those things that are personal to our situation that make them so sweet. TWO THUMBS UP AND A VIRTUAL HIGH FIVE

The dreaded email
First off the mention of Girl Scout Cookies immediately pops up the mental picture of the Peanut Butter patties. OMG those things are little slices of heaven lol. Secondly we all make mistakes where we post stuff. I have a habit of just going down new topics and reading the mens room topics and answering even though by the time I figure out I am in the men's room and they probably really want their fellow sleeve bro's opinions and not mine I have already piped in. No need to get so worked up over it. Give some grace.

WOOHOOO!!!!!!

want to rant
I say you tell him you are fixing him a wonderful dinner tonight....then surprise him by putting it all in the blender and serving it to him. Then ask him how his dinner looks?

I need to tell my sister
Wow that sounds like a complicated mess. First I would like to suggest reading a book called Boundaries (when to say yes and how to say no by Townsend and Mccloud), we are reading it at bible study and it just talks about how to say no and not feel guilty. It talks a lot about family of origins and how people are responsible for their own feelings of anger and that boundaries help us to stay happy and healthy and everyone is entitled to them. There are no strings attached with love and friendships. Anywho, you are going to have to be firm and loving with your sister about your choice. You can't approach her like you need her approval but you don't want to go in like your a harda*s either or she will immediately turn on the control freak defense. Have your research on hand and appeal to her medical background as well as to her heart. Tell her how being overweight makes you feel inside, maybe you feel like you are trapped in your own body, maybe you don't feel like you are living your life as fully as you would because of self esteem. Let her know you are not taking the easy way out but that you are making an informed decision that your other medical professionals agree with. Let her know that even though she manages to keep her weight in check that you are exhausted fighting a losing battle and need a little extra help. Then leave it with you don't have to agree with my decision medically but please support me as your flesh and blood because I need you and you know I will always do the same for you. As for her acting weird I can bet even though it was her husbands choice to kill himself any human would feel guilty deep down (not that it is their fault) but now her children have lost their father and it would really hurt me to think that someone didn't love our children enough to be around for them. There has to be a TON of different emotions going on. I say whatever you do...go in with firmness believing in your choice and just love her through her reaction. If she totally freaks out just know she is responsible for herself and how she reacts not you.

stomach flu after VSG
I got the stomach flu at around 9 weeks post op. Up until then I hadn't puked one time post op so it really really freaked me out. I felt like I had gotten hit in the head with a sledge hammer and the vertigo was out of this world. I got a call to pick my son up at school early that friday morning and he had it one night, then hopped up like 11 hours after it started and it was like nothing ever happened. I got it in the middle of the night that following night and I had felt no symptoms and it took me a lot longer until I felt back to normal. My mother came and did a gatorade drop off lol. She left it on the porch. I just sipped as much as i could and kept it on ice and took ibuprofen for the headache. When my vomitting stopped after about 20 hours I was still really weak and had a lingering headache. My stomach ended up a big acidic mess and I had to go to my regular doctor a week after the flu to get a strong PPI because the normal PPI I had been taking was not working. My doctor said my tummy got thrown out of whack with the virus and needed something to get it back under control. So I took Dexilant for 6 weeks and then was able to progress off of it totally. My husband started about 4 hours before I finally stopped throwing up so then it was his turn. Somehow my 11 year old dodged the bullet even though he was playing nurse to us. All-in-all it took me around 3 days to feel like I had decent energy level but because my stomach was so acidy and burning after it felt like it lasted forever. Im like Tiff that if I am in the middle of a virul infection like that I wont take immodium and stuff I just let it work it's way through. Now if I get hit with bathroom problems with no other symptoms I will give it a day or so before I take something. I hope you feel better soon.

Hair finally growing back in, but with a catch...
Well I know it is not fun, believe me though I was blessed with my grandmothers thick fast growing hair, she also passed on the family gene of greying early. I started greying at about 31 and so it keeps me on my toes and keeps my hair stylist in business. Glad it is coming back for you though!

The rate of weight loss
Dr. Watkins thank you for taking the time to give some great advice and point out some much needed tools. I know I have not been following the protocol that I did right after my VSG surgery and my weight loss has stalled. I really need to get back to basics on eating my protein first and keeping the carbs to a minimum. I know I am not over-indulging in calories as I can't eat that much but I am not making the best choices for my weight loss period. I am going to watch your videos to remind myself what I need to do and why.

Victoria Secrets
The last place I want words written across is on my backside. I chuckle every time I see someone in those type of sweat pants. I don't get it but I thought maybe I was just getting older and not with "it". Djackson: I liked that little VS and Fredericks saying, it gave me a good ole fashioned snort laugh

Annoyed with my body
I didn't step on the scale until day 14. I was too afraid of exactly what you are reporting. I knew I would gain a ton from the IV and fluids and I would flip out if I didn't see the loss I wanted. I think you just need to give yourself another week or two before you weigh again. It could take a bit more until your body is willing to let go of the fluids etc.

Victoria Secrets
Ohhh I will have to try that one. My last one is from Target and they still carry it but my breasticles have shrunk and I am not sure if it will still fit great. I have a coupon for 20% off Kohls right now and with it on sale it will only be $16 bucks. If anyone wants to try buying online I have a coupon code for kohls I can share.
