4 more pounds down, uhh wasn't even trying.
Ok, I held steady over the holiday season. I weighed myself a couple days after Christmas and I had not gained a single pound (that felt like a victory itself). I fell off the exercise wagon but I have stayed very active and busy. Then I decided to weigh last friday just to see where I was and I have lost 4 more pounds since Christmas without doing a dang thing other then not having the access to the holiday goodies. I weighed again today to make sure it wasn't some sort of fluke and nope I weighed 4 pounds less then Christmas. I went to my hubby and asked him how the heck he thought that happened. He looked at me like I was retarded and said "uhh you don't eat very much"? Then he proceeded to ask me what I ate the day before and when I started going over the last 3 or 4 days I realized he is right. I mean I don't know when my head hunger finally slowed down. It must have been sometime through the holidays when I just stopped thinking about food a ton. I remember posting something about head hunger and thinking of taking an appetite suppressant then here it is a month or 6 weeks later and I realize I may get a craving for something but I just don't eat that much. It is amazing, it is simple but amazing. I have a hard time wrapping my head around it. I knew that was why I was having the surgery but I think it took a little longer for me to adjust physically and mentally to it all. So enough rambling. I just was in awe of my sleeve and my results. It is awesome to think I can spend the rest of my life eating like I do, feeling satisfied and maintaining a healthy body. Hopefully this motivates someone, hell it has motivated me.

Should I dye my hair?
PINK holy cow! Thats fun. Since I have lost a good 40-45% of my hair I opted to not have the three color process I normally have my stylist do on my hair every 6 weeks. I instead just used a temporary color from a box I picked up at the drug store. I just thought the less I do to it the better right now. My hair grows so fast that I have to color pretty often. I actually need my roots done around every 4-5 weeks but I stretch it to 6 because it gets so expensive. I thought maybe the next three or so months I can just use this off the shelf color until I see some regrowth.

Do you avoid any TV shows now that you have had the sleeve?
My aversion to cooking shows cleared up around months 3-4. I get uncomfortable thinking about all the food Adam Richmond is slamming down his throat on Man Vs Food though. Heck I was watching Anthony Bordain on No Reservations and he was just eating "normal man sized" portions and I got off track thinking it was a good thing I didn't have a job as a food show host or I would surely offend some great chefs by leaving my plate full.

Post op 2 weeks. Help with cotton mouth
I think it is caused by being in ketosis which is a great news for your weight loss. I think they have some mouth washes that help with dry mouth (nothing with alcohol in it) and you could try some sugar free breath mints to suck on and just keep sipping on the water.

Everyone Says Something Different!
I would love to see some research behind this also. I also sip when I eat, but seriously it is like the equivalent of two shot glasses maybe of liquid. I don't want to get full on my drink and I want to eat my food so I only sip. I mean isn't it the same as having some Soup or eating something liquid like? Is soup going to stretch out our tummies? I don't think so. If I was chugging a huge soda and eating that might cause it but if I sip an oz or two of tea or juice with my meal I can't imagine the mechanics of it stretching. Just my theory.

Hair Loss
Well, I had surgery in middle of August and my hair loss started somewhere around the middle of October and has been horrible. I have a ton of hair thank god because right now I am down between 40-45%, I turned my vacuum over the other day to put a new belt on it and I was horrified to see big one inch sections of the turning sweeper covered in my hair. I had to get the scissors and cut it from around it. I had a small zip lock baggy full of my hair and that is just what was picked up around the house. That doesn't even account for the gobs that has come out in my wide tooth comb, in the shower when I wash and when I style my hair along with what got sucked into the vacuum and swept up from my bathroom floor. I was embarassed to go get my hair colored (afraid it would make it worse by over processing it) and I cancelled my appt with my stylist and decided to just put a color on at home. So I picked up two boxes of temporary hair color hoping it would go easier then my usual processing and I was freaked out when it only took one bottle of it to color my hair. I always always had to use two boxes even when my hair was shoulder length. Now it is at the middle of my back and it only took one bottle? I hope this crap stops soon or else I seriously will have NO hair left.

Extreme Pigout
I have this dream where I am being tortured and the form of torture is me being force fed. I mean I feel like I have eaten a four course meal after I have one bean burrito from Taco Bell. It makes me anxious to think of being forced to try to eat a huge meal. However I still love Man Vs food and I gotta look up this Pig Out show. Another good show is Freaky Eaters. I think anytime we are forced to recognize our own flaws in others it is uncomfortable.

Christmas gift---Keurig Coffee/Tea Maker
I got my parents one for Christmas! My mom loves it because my dad gets up and leaves house early for work and by the time she gets up to have coffee it was always lukewarm and she would either have to micro it or make a new pot and waste it. Now he pops his in and out the door, she gets up picks her flavor and has it ready in a minute. I think I need to get one now! I am almost 5 months post op and I still get a bit of a burning acidy tummy when I drink coffee, especially if I get a vanilla latte. Occasionally though I can drink some and it is fine, it is so random. I think as long as you are not loading it up with sugar and it isn't bothering you as long as it is a moderate amount it shouldn't hurt. If the scale is continuing to go the right direction you should be good!

Tummy tuck done before VSG
Hey Chilo! Good to hear from you, I had a great holiday season and I hope you did too. I read your post about your husband saying you had a nice figure...it made me chuckle it was so sweet. I have not been following the program but I can report I did not gain during the holidays and that in itself is some sort of miracle right? I am back on the wagon so to speak and hope that by the time we take a vacation around Valentines day to have lost at least 10 more pounds. We shall see. The TT took care of like 95% of my stretch marks. When they dissect the skin from your abdomen depending on how much they pull it down and remove they will cut a ton of them off. It sounds like the ones a half inch above your belly button will be gone. The lower ones right over your pubic area are the ones that tend to get pulled up a bit and end up at inciscion level but if you don't have them that low or high most will be removed. If you have some lipo before hand I think it will help them with pulling it lower, tighter and flatter. I think by the time you reach your goal that you will get great results with the TT!

Ideas: How to Save Money eating at Restaurants...
I went and checked out this site. I am going to give it a go the next time I head out to dinner. Some of my locally owned shops were participating which was pleasantly surprising. I found a coupon code on retailmenot.com and entered it for kicks and it gave me a 30% discount on the random certificate I added to my cart to try out. I also highly recommend retailmenot.com for promo codes for shopping, dinning and for hotel discounts. I made a reservation for a hotel near Disneyland that we frequent and used a coupon code I found on the site and got a two room suite at La Quinta within walking distance of the park for $60 bucks a night. It would have been $80 without the code. GOOOOO retailmenot!

RE-SLEEVE
Yes I read about someone who had her stomach imaged and it was an improper VSG. Her doctor offered to redo the surgery for her after she sent her a picture of the image. She decided after her husband used Dr. Aceves to use him for the revision instead of the initial surgeon. So I would guess getting the stomach imaged to see if the shape is proper or if it indeed was made incorrectly would be the first step and also it would give another doctor an idea of the ability to have it revised or not.

Tummy tuck done before VSG
I had my tummy tuck before I had my VSG. I was around 180 pounds when I had a full TT three years ago. I gained 20 more pounds after the TT and went in for VSG at around 200 pounds. I had the TT after I had lost from 215 (my highest weight ever) and I was feeling pretty good at 180 and hoped it would help me get motivated to lose another 40 pounds. I was tired of losing weight and still having the flabby belly skin from my two pregnancies. I was around 137 when I got pregnant with my first and gained to around 201 the day I delivered. My second pregnancy I was around 145 when i got pregnant and I gained to 207 pounds while pregnant I think. So my tummy took a beating! It was hanging skin and tons of stretch marks that even after I got back to 145 pounds after my second child I had no waist and it annoyed me. Then I gained weight after I started some medications and ballooned to my high of 215 in 2 years. After I stopped the meds I dropped to 180 pretty fast and felt dang good other then the belly and so I had it done. That worked for around 2 years then gained more weight sadly and that brought me to the VSG. Now that I am at 158 pounds and still losing my tummy looks great it is as hard as a rock and I know as I continue to lose the last 15-20 pounds it will only get better. So ya it was strange that I had that done first then the VSG but I don't regret it.

terrible time whilst in hospital
Well damn! I was wishing you the best and easiest surgery experience ever. I am glad though that your complications were not of a horribly serious nature and I hope that you start feeling better now that you are out of the hospital. Like Lil Miss said the weight loss is one positive of the whole mess but I wish it would have came without the fuss. Best wishes, sip as much as you can and keep us posted.
