  1. That is an awesome NSV for sure. Holy cow your own mother didn't recognize you! Congrats
  2. I am not pregnant, I also got my monthly gift today. GO mother nature lol. It also explains why I was so emotional during my initial post. I started the PPI yesterday and that combined with my hormones being normal again have made a huge difference in my hunger so far. I did some killer workouts the last two days and feel much better. Thank you all for the talking down and the encouragement.
  3. That is funny! I can understand your frustration. I can't imagine one of my coworkers sharing something with me and thinking I know what is a better choice for them then they would know themselves. I know that several women in the office I previously worked at went through different WLS procedures and even though I find the bypass just freaky and scary, I just wished them the best and truly was happy for them being able to have that light at the end of their tunnel. Just keep your head up, though you shared with them doesn't give them the right to critique you, it is not like you asked their opinions. This is between you and your doctor. Like Tat said...carry some duct tape hehe.
  4. That is so frikin outstanding! Giving you a virtual high five!
  5. LoL I know it probably sounded a little askew but I was meaning something that had a little caffeine and some herbs in it for appetite suppression, not some crazy prescription like Phentermine. But I am past it. I will be honest I was emotional and frustrated last night and just throwing it out there in response to my hunger issues. I am a reasonably intelligent person (I think ?) so I just needed a little get your head out of your butt and a little talking down from my perch. I am not going to take the meds. I picked up my PPI again and I popped one this evening before dinner. I busted my ass at gym today. I know I can do it. I got this.
  6. I agree with both above posts. Dr. Aceves has a great reputation and he has earned it. I went to Dr. Pompa and agree with Sleeve also. I had a great surgical experience at LIMARP and have no qualms about suggesting the doctor to others.
  7. It would be fun to try on some FFF's for kicks huh!!!
  8. I guess I was hoping it would alleviate any unecessary hunger and help with cravings. I mean if I feel NO hunger then it would stop me from thinking man that sounds good, I think I need to eat some. LiLMissDiva: thank you for fixing my typo in the title of the thread. Sleevesearch I felt similar post op and changing up my PPI did work on my tummy and at that time I felt the burning frothy GERD stuff. Stacy160: I will bring up the Wellbutrin if I start feeling like I might need the antidepressant again. I wont see him until next month and I stopped my other one without consulting him first. He will probably scold me but like someone else mentioned I hate taking meds, of course if I feel like they are necessary I will but that is why I stopped the PPI because I thought well if my body doesn't need it then I wont take it. I was going to try something over the counter for the hunger just to get me through the next 15 pounds but I guess if the PPI was doing the job then I should just take it for a while longer. Mommy2Girls: I think it might have been a post where you mentioned the book that led me to purchase it about a month and half ago. It is good reading and heck ya it was slow at first hehe. I also want to try Eat this Not That.... both home and restaurant editions. The 5 day pouch test doesn't sound to appealing right now as I am heading to DIsneyland for my birthday Friday of this week. Then next week I am making all the candy for my holiday baskets and then Christmas! I am starting the PPI today, buckling down on my choices of food and stepping up my exercise routine to counter balance things a bit. I will however do the pouch test to sort of cleanse my body of the crappy carbs that I LOVE OHHH SO MUCH after the holiday like as in December 26th hehe. I will report back and thank you all for the time you took to offer advice and support. I will try them so they were not given in vain.
  9. Oh thank god. I thought I was the only one struggling with this and that I was all alone and deffective. Reading the above posts are confirmation that I am not the only one struggling. It got me all teary eyed so thank you thank you thank you all who responded. I had mentioned trying my PPI again last week but wasn't really sold on it helping my hunger but dang it can't hurt to take it for a while longer and see if it will work. I am not sure if it is true hunger or stress/hormonal hunger. I am pretty sure it is just because food sounds great most of the time. Heck I wouldn't have been overweight to start with if I didn't like food. I picked up a book someone on this site recommended it was called The End Of Overeating and it talked about how foods are processed up in the attempt to make us crave it more and more so that in turn it makes big profits. It is a good book so now when I am eating I understand exactly what is going in and why my body wants more and that in turn makes me feel more guilty lol. I will try everyones suggestions. I am heading to the gym right now to push myself and I will pick up the PPI on my way home. Thank you all again. I was a little tired and emotional last night and finally laid out my dirty little hunger secret, I felt bad after I did it because I was afraid it would convince people on the fence that the surgery wont work and that just isn't the case. I know right now for me it is a combo of things including my own choices that are not helping me out. Thanks for not crucifying me
  10. Congrats on getting your surgery date! Not too much longer, it will be here before you know it. YAY!
  11. I am running and exercising only I get hungrier when i work out, so it is a double edged sword. I will pick up the PPI tomorrow and try that first. I feel like I am being a debbie downer but not everyone gets rid of hunger with the sleeve. Of course I would have to be the one in 500 that keeps their hunger. LOL naw im not that down and despondent. I will try the suggestions and keep positive. Thanks.
  12. I stopped taking that about 4-5 weeks ago too. I have been thinking taking it again even though my tummy isn't burning like it needs any sort of PPI.
  13. Edit: I need to proof read my posts. I spelled suppressant wrong in the title and now in my post. Sorry I am not all there. Ok, I know everyone talks about how nice it is to have no hunger but I am not one of those people. For about the last 5 weeks my hunger has been out of control. I get full really fast but I have these enormous cravings. I think it started when I stopped being so carb conscious so it is my own fault. I just wonder if anyone else has tried any appetite suppressants to help them get through the head cravings. I do fine when I eat my meals because I eat so little but I have been grazing and have only lost 3 pounds in 5-6 weeks. I get really bad PMS and my cravings along with my depression are out of this world. That lasts around 10 days...heck that is almost half the month, it is insane. I was on an antidepressant for almost a year now (after I lost two of my four grandparents within a month last holiday season) but i stopped taking them around 2 weeks ago because I don't want to be on them forever especially because of the sexual side effects. They make me feel like im a dried up old prune instead of a normal 33 year old who adores her husband. I am doing fine without the antidepressants probably because I am exercising and that helps my overall mood. Anyways, I really feel like I want to lose the last 15 pounds I have on my agenda. I was low BMI to start with and though I have lost around 42 pounds I dont want to have paid almost 7k for a surgery that I don't make the most of and get to my goal, especially since I am so close to it already and it is not a really tiny number. If I hit my goal I will be like 5 pounds under the "normal" range according to BMI. I feel like I probably get just around the amount of calories a day to keep me at a steady weight. I don't OVER indulge, I just am not saving any calories toward weight loss right now. I have been looking up appetite suppressants, I don't want to do phentermine or anything prescription just something over the counter to help me not feel as hungry. I sorta feel like an idiot posting this and I should probably just go back to the basics and start a low carb diet to get rid of my cravings but dangit I don't know if I am up to that right now. any advice? Suggestion? am I all alone with my hunger? I know it is not my sleeve because I have recognized that i get full really fast and eat around 8 oz of slider foods and only around 4-5 oz of dense Protein foods.
  14. Breath assure tablets may work, I think they are filled with parsely extract. It works from the tummy out.
  15. Well awesome news ! Welcome to the loser's bench and keep us posted on your progress. Just keep moving and the uncomfortableness should work itself out. Just don't be afraid to use the pain meds. Or maybe if you have something for anxiety to help you rest, those help a bunch too.
  16. Angie you look SMOKING! Great looking pair you two make. Congrats on your continued success.
  17. I cant view the pic either but from what I can see and looking at your stats I still just want to congratulate you! Way to go.
  18. I have to confess I have been a bad bad girl! I did not go on my mountain run. I chose to stay home with my hubby who has varying time off. Friday morning I did go into the gym with a trainer (my cousin) who walked me through all the weight machines. I am familiar with working out with weights and such but I was not sure how to ajust the new fangled machines lol. I did an hour total, by that night my legs felt so sore and my abdomen...OMG ......felt like I got kicked square in my mid tummy. Yesterday I was so sore that I just cleaned house. Today I felt better so I did yard work. Tomorrow is back to the gym for cardio and Tuesday will be back on the weight machines. Good job guys!
  19. Once I hit creamed soups I felt so much better, I think it was the all the cold drinks and jello that drove me nuts post op. The warm broth was nice but the creamed soups felt SOOO much more 'normal". Follow your eating plan though for safety reasons plus you will lose some serious weight those first couple weeks.
  20. Yay Kabin, I remember reading your posts after your initial denial. It is awesome that your insurance has had a change of policy and I am praying you will get your approval. You better run here to post when you get word!
  21. Thank you for still hanging out here and being a wealth of information and inspiration to everyone of all shapes and sizes. It really is a calling and I hope you know how much it really does help others. I appreciate your no nonsense "non sugar coated" posts and for keeping it real. You look wonderful and you have worked your sleeve like no other. Thank you and bless ya.
  22. I am 4 months out and I have figured out I can eat around 8-9 oz of mushie sort of food like lasagna or bowls of thick soups with a bit of meat in them and veggies. If I am eating a purely protein item like chicken or beef I get full on around 5oz of it. Carbs and liquid consistency foods go down easier.
  23. I was browsing for some weight loss recipes from a trusted source. I found this on the Mayo Clinic website. It breaks down the nutritional value at the bottom of each recipe page. Quite a few sounded very delicious....or maybe I am hungry hehe. Mayo Clinc Recipes
  24. Welcome to the forum! It sounds like you have found some great contacts with the support group. That is awesome and will be such a big help, I wish I had a group close to me for sure. Keep us posted on your journey through the insurance hoops.
