thiklips got a reaction from BlueGirl1920 in Week 6: 30lbs of weight gone
Keep your responses short, if the folks aren't idiots they'll get the pic that you don't wanna talk about it and keep it moving. The ones that are idiots just say to those folks, i dont wanna talk about it but thanks. Lol, congrats on the weight loss, it's alot better than mine so be proud of it!!

I've been on a stall also. Surgery on 1/10, 18 and lost no weight in February at all. Kept going back and forth from 198, 199, 200, 201, 202. But I've noticed lots of inches going off. I often try on clothes that were too small to gauge myself , the scale isn't friendly sometimes but trying on clothes that you couldn't get on and fitting them will keep you motivated until the scale decides to move again lol.

Id say by week 2 everything was normal, still some pain here and there in my incision area but nothing pain medication worthy.

Diet is not a 4 letter word. For me I look at Diet as being a specific approach for food success/consumption. If I let my willful fat brain eat ad libitum, I will be Rhonda Rotunda within months of this surgery, cuz that's how unruly that fuc*er is! But, and it's a big butt, if I maintain a LIVEABLE, sustainable DIET that never has an end, I will do great! For me, it looks like a whole foods diet with only adequate Protein, healthy fats, low glycemic veggies, a bit of low glycemic fruit, some nuts and seeds, a little full fat dairy now and then, and sometimes, a bit of lower-lowish glycemic carbs as a treat once in a blue moon. It will never included added sugars or foods containing high natural sugars ever. That will land me right smack dab back at the corner of Breast Cancer Avenue and Diabetes Alley.

You will get there, no worries. Diabetes is the worst! I was pre diabetic prior to my surgery. So glad I got this surgery. Almost everyone in my family has diabetes. It's an awful disease.

Up your activity, you didn't mention that aspect of the journey. Sometimes you need to add 100 calories of Protein and up the Water intake to get it moving again. Also are you eating the same foods over and over - add more fish or try a new vegetable. Our bodies get used to routine, shake it up. Good luck.

Congrats on your weight loss! You will break this stall. It's frustrating. Keep working your plan.
Never have to diet again even after surgery? It's a lifetime of learning to eat and live healthy.

Thank you so much, and you are correct it is not a race but after having diabetes for over 20 years and trying to stop the damage to my organs, well it kinda is a race. Losing weight is really more about my health than looking slim. I already look slim if truth be told, I'm 5'9 and wear a size 8. Being slim was not why I got the surgery, reversing my diabetes was my reason. I just want to get to a good number so that my sugar levels are as normal as a person without diabetes. I will eat some carbs but I guess when I say strict I really mean cutting out things that I absolutely should not be eating any way. I have low carbed, low cal, fast, you name it and you are correct, too strict only leads to quick loses and quicker gains. So allow me to rephrase that, get on a lower carb regiment to see better weight lose results, lol. Thanks again for your response its greatly appreciated!

I am having a good bit of success and it's really early, I had GBP on January 10, 2018. SW 222, CW 199 GW 155ish. I am type 2 diabetic and have stopped taking metformin so thats a blessing. However my weigh stalled all of February. Today I'm starting a strict low carb diet to try to make the scale move again. Just a bit disappointed because I had the notion I'd never have to diet again to lose weight after the surgery. I could be jumping the gun as they say but its such a tease to be right at the door of Onederland only to teeter back and forth from 198, 199, 200 all month long. I must take action now!

From all info. I've heard both professional and patient info. The sleeve is the worst wls you could possibly have if you already have gerd. So many people get revised to GBP from the sleeve due to gerd! Not sure why a doctor would give you such poor advice.

One year ago today I had my RNY bypass done! One year later and I'm down 125lbs and I have lost a total of 90.5 inches!!!!
I feel amazing, my knees don't ache every time I move and my feet aren't so sore from carrying that much weight around!
I don't get winded walking up a flight of stairs anymore and have found that I love jogging and I love yoga and riding a bike is fun again!!
I still struggle with who I see in the mirror so I take a lot of pictures. I take measurements every month or so and I Celebrate with activities instead of food now.
What a difference a year can make!

Surgery 3/23/17 i hope to break 300 by January. 525 lbs at start of journey 6/26/16. 450 at surgery date to 332 as of 9/5/17. 9XL to 3XL. I can walk again without pain or breaking into a drenching sweat. My sex life with my wife has vastly improved. I am off most medications. I can sit in normal chairs again. Not just fit bit be comfortable and not afraid they will break. (That last one makes me tear up cause of the struggles I had with just existing outside in public.) I cannot say how much has changed and how better my life is. Without this tool and encouragement of my family and wife I am positive I would have been dead by now. Thank you everyone that helped me.

I completely understand. I barely mentioned the idea to my sister and sister in law last year and GOOD LORD, you would have thought I told them I was cutting both my legs off! "You do not need that surgery" "you are not that fat" "you doctor is a quack" on and on......so I have not said another word to any family members since then. I've been quietly attending my weekly nutrition classes, quietly having all my pre surgery testing done....and when I have my surgery I'm telling them that I have to travel for about a week for work. And leave it at that. The crazy part is almost my entire family have serious health issues, including diabetes (which is my main reasoning for the surgery), but they are not educated at all about surgery or getting healthy in general and it was not worth it to me to argue with them:) Good Luck!

Wow this is scary because all doc reports and testimonies are that no more diabetic meds after surgery. I too an only getting it because of type 2 diabetes. But for some weird reason I had my band removed and my a1c has now dropped to 6.5. Of course 5. Is the magic number so I'm working to get there even before surgery. I only take 500 mg of metformin daily and my doc only put me on that because my a1c had creeped to 7.0! Our bodies are weird so hang in there and pray that it goes in reverse. I'm like you, I refuse to go any further down the diabetic rd of meds, in my opinion it's a dead end road!!
