  1. Hi everyone! I'm new to the boards. I'm on the final countdown for surgery, and can hardly believe it! I worked so hard to get all my ducks in a row, and now a series of wonderful thing shave happened to ensure I can get my band. You see, I'm a low-BMI bandster (33), so the first step I had to do is hope (weird!) I had some co-morbidity that would allow me to get banded at a BMI of 35. Lo and behold, my sleep study showed mild sleep apnea. So, no CPAP needed, but still qualifying! Then, I had to gain about 8 pounds to weigh in at a BMI of 35. Well, 2 days ago was my official insurance weigh-in, and there I was, 1 pound above what I needed! Now I have to admit, this gaining weight part was the most fun! Then came the insurance approval. I waited on baited breath and just got my letter 2 days ago, I'm approved! So now comes the next hurdle: the actual operation. My surgery date is October 5th 2010! I'm nervous but very happy. I am determined to make this my success story! So, hello to everyone and thank you in advance for the sense of support and community on these boards!
  2. Congratulations!!! My approval arrived in the mail yesterday, and I'm getting banded October 5th. We're (almost) band twins!
  3. Yesterday was my first day on the liquid diet, and it was also the day I had promised my son to make his favorite dinner. So here I was, starving and cranky, and cooking creamy, decadent homemade mac and cheese. The worst part is that the kids and hubby all said this was my very best batch yet! I didn't taste it at all. I had my husband taste it for seasonings. But it sucked. I had to go drink my Protein shake in my room, I couldn't face sitting at the table with them! I hope that today I'll figure out how to space out my Proteins so I'm not so hungry tonight!
  4. I kinda hoped for sleep apnea, too, and have it, just a mild form. So no CPAP machine! I just found out yesterday that my insurance has approved the surgery! Yipee! My BMI is barely 35, and I have the mild apnea along with pre-hypertension. Good luck!
  5. My surgeon said lots of his patients do. My problem is that I only like the fruit kind (mmm...peaches!!), but he wants me to focus on Protein during the puree stage. I just don't think I can stomach the meat-based baby foods!
  6. Hi everyone! I am new to the board. My surgery is on October 5th, and today is my first day on the liquid diet. I'm nervous but excited!
