  1. Woo hoo! The final hurdle was cleared yesterday. I had my endoscopy and my surgeon said the golden words: "See you next Friday at 8 am for the surgery." Anyone who is on this journey with me will agree those are the best words ever! So, does anyone else share my surgery date? Or within a day or two? Would love to keep up with you to share ups and downs.

Thanks friends for making me feel normal. I am prepping for surgery and trying to wean myself and it is hard! I actually like the taste of diet coke! I know I can do it but I also believe knowing it is banished forever is one of the hardest parts of the surgery. Glad to hear I have friends in that department!
  3. Hi Shellie, We are all there with you girlfriend! If you feel down, post us and we'll talk you through it! The thyroid thing isn't a big deal. The medication can easily address the problem. It may take a few months to get the right dosage but I started taking it fairly recently and haven't noticed anything. Keep us posted! Without a doubt each visit uncovers something new! When you share we can all learn! Good luck!
  4. Awesome! You are starting your new life-what fun! I can't wait to hear about your successes! Keep posting to tell us all about it! I get to join you in 9 days as a "bandster"! Can't wait....

Woo hoo! CONGRATULATIONS are in order for sure! Glad to hear your positive thoughts about the lapband! I start my journey in 9 days. I hope I can be as successful as you!
  6. Hi NewMechelle! Great job for getting past the plateau! With your positive attitude you CAN meet your goal by your bandiversary in May! We're rooting for you! Keep inspiring those of us in the beginning of our journey!

Hi Jilly! You keep going girl! 11.5 pounds in 2 weeks- that is awesome! I am jealous you are under the 200 mark. Keep writing and inspiring us! I get banded in 9 days and this liquid diet is keeping me QUITE HUNGRY! I just have to persevere.....
  8. Sooooo confused, Don't fret yet. I was in the same spot as you. I had never been considered small in my life and then all of the sudden I was teeter-tottering on a refusal. Co-morbidities might be your answer. High blood pressure, high cholesterol, thyroid disorder, any kind of muscle or joint disorder are all considered co-morbidities and they allow you to have the surgery with a lower BMI. Ask about that at your visit. Good luck!
  9. Happy Anniversary! I'm jealous that you are through surgery AND moving on to pureed foods. What's the deal with a 2 pound gain, anyway? That makes no sense. If your doc explains do share for us "almost" banded so we know why. Good luck!
  10. Woo hoo! You go! This is going to be a GREAT year, isn't it? Good luck with your pre-op diet. I personally am HUNGRY after day 3! I can do it, though! 4-23-10 is my scheduled new "birthday"!
  11. Catherine, I am so sorry that you are dealing with this. Hopefully the hematologist will be your LAST stop before surgery. Anyone of us could face the same thing you are so you have our power of positive thought behind you. Good luck!
  12. Day 3 of liquid pre-op diet. Still being "good" as of today. I am HUNGRY and hope that goes away with time! My family is working with me by preparing their meals so I don't have to do that. I'm hoping for a beautiful liver when my doc gets in there to do the band on 4/23. Give me strength!

Hi Jilly! I am in a very similar starting place....210 pounds. I am doing the pre-op liquid diet starting on Friday. YIKES! April 23rd is the BIG DAY! My doctor says it'll be my new birthday. I hope it is as great as he says it will be! Good job on the commitment aspect! I agree, you can do it! You GO GIRL!

How awesome Anabel! You sound like you have sailed through your first week post-op! Any advice for making it through the pre-op liquid diet? I start mine on Friday for April 23rd surgery???? I would love any and all advice!

Congratulations! Wow! 2.5 weeks POST-surgery! Sounds like you have made it through the worst of the storm. You can do it....just think of how much fun shopping will be when we can visit REAL stores instead of PLUS SIZE stores! I've got a little more than 2 weeks before surgery. I can't wait!
  16. Woo hoo! Congrats on getting a surgery date! I just set mine today, too! April 23rd! I can only say HAPPY BIRTHDAY because we're on a journey to enjoy a healthy rest of our lives!
  17. Good luck! Think of tomorrow as your new and improved BIRTHDAY!! Woo hoo!
  18. Hi It's For Life!, I am actually in Lincoln County but my doc is in Huntersville. I see Dr. Ryan Heider and he is in practice with Dr. Vollenger. Its a small world, isn't it! Good luck with the protein shakes and feel free to write me if you do want to have a pity party! I understand! PLEASE do send any and all advice my way! I am waiting for all of my doc reports to be sent to insurance. Waiting is not my forte! Good luck with your procedure! WE CAN DO IT!!!!
  19. Hi Tracy, We can support one another! I have also gone through 2 back surgeries and I am facing a third! The weight has got to go! I love the bipolar description. How true! I' super excited but do worry if I can finally stick to it and see it through. My family doctor says the positive vibes from the initial weight loss will keep me going. I sure hope she is right! We are shooting for a May or June procedure. What about you? Tammy
  20. Hi Lap Band Friends! I am from the Charlotte, NC area. I am currently in the insurance approval process for this exciting journey. I have met with all of my required specialists and the reports are being written as I type. It is my hope to have the surgery by June at the latest. I feel pretty good about the whole process. I am most fearful about finding a liquid protein shake that I like. I am and have always been a finicky eater. 2 weeks pre and post op on liquids only sounds extreme. ANY advice you all can offer an good tasting drinks is welcome!:blushing:
