  1. Ha! I feel stupid! I joined the challenge even before reading this thread. I just saw other people's tickers with the challenge on it and said......."hmmmm, that sounds like a good short-term goal". So I'm trying to lose 26 pounds by July 4th. May be difficult as I have no fills, but I'm gonna try!!!
  2. Hey there! It could also be gas. Very common in the first 2 weeks post op. I had major gas pains after eating that were on my side.
  3. Hello everyone! Ok, I'm on my last week (week 3 post op) of my liquid diet. I have 3 more days before I can start my pureed 2 weeks. I have been feeling dizzy for the past 3 days and I think it's because I am starving! I get about 700 calories a day and I could handle it before, but I think my body is not having it anymore. I'm about to start my period, don't know if this has anything to do with it. Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice?
  4. I'm 5' 4.5'' and my goal weight is 140. I can't remember when I weighed this maybe in middle school? Well that's my plan, I have a long way to go!
  5. I feel your pain! I have a strict doc/nutritionist as well. I had to be on full liquids 2 weeks prior to surgery and for 3 weeks after. Then I have to go to pureed for 2 weeks and then to soft for 2 and finally around the 4th of July I get to have solids! Seems a long ways a way, but I'm determined to stick to it as best I can.
  6. Ok, I know it's only been 1 week since surgery, but I feel like my incisions are healing and feeling good and my insides still seem to ache. Is this normal? I may, again, just be freaking out. I know it isn't that long since surgery. I keep imagining that my band has slipped or something has torn. Has anyone else experienced this? Am I just paranoid or is there something to be worried about?
  7. Yeah for you! Congrats entering into twoderville! I can't wait til I get there!
  8. Hey there! I'm feeling the same way. I was banded on May 14th and can drink an 11oz shake without feeling restriction. From what I've read, it seems some surgeons don't fill the band or only partially fill the band at the time of surgery. People generally go in for a fill 4 to 6 weeks after surgery and then can really feel the restriction. I know I definitely can't eat as much as I could before surgery, but I'm hoping that I'll get more restriction in the months to come with a fill. Hope this helps.
  9. Thanks everybody for your replies. I feel better now, it sounds like I'm experiencing what I'm supposed to. I won't freak out now:teeth_smile:
  10. Hello, I'm 6 days post op and thought I was healing fine. I've had a return of gas pain again, I think. It could be the shakes I'm drinking-they have soy and sometimes I can react weird to it-I'm switching to another shake. So anyway, I can feel a bump under my biggest incision and have a tiny bit of clearish fluid coming from the incision. I called my surgeon and they said not to worry if it doesn't hurt and I don't have a fever, neither of which I have. Has anyone else experienced this feeling and the fluid? I don't want to jump the gun and start worrying, any advice?
  11. So my surgery went smoothly and I am recovering well with little abdominal pain. My only complaint, which is frustrating and unfortunate, is I have this upper thigh/hip numbness and occasional sharp pain/hot pain. So I've asked my surgeon's office and they told me not to worry about it, but if it got worse to go to my PCP. The numbness seems to be getting better, but with more feeling comes more of the sharp, hot pain pricks? I really wanted to avoid going to my PCP for her to tell me it was a bruised nerve and she can't really do anything about it. So I asked a doc online. This is the answer I got, and I believe it to make sense of what is going on with me- I wanted to pass it on in case anyone else is going through this. Here is the doc's answer: "This pain is probably from a stretched nerve / muscle from the " modified lithotomy " position that can be given for a Lap Band surgery. This can also be from inappropriate sleep posture, as suggested by the nurse, causing a stretched nerve. I would advise you to rest and apply gentle heat to the painful area. This should pass off within a few days." I researched a little more and found info about "compartment syndrome" which discussed laying in a modified lithotomy position in combination with compression socks (I wore these in the hosp to prevent blood clots) causing nerve pain and area numbness. So there you go, I had to a lot of searching for this info, but I think it saved me a trip to the doc. Hope it helps. By the way, I really, really want to eat a giant hamburger!:w00t:
  12. Hey there! She can be annoying with her southern drawl whinning, for sure! This episode gives you a little insight to where that might be coming from though. It's a good one.
  13. I think it's really good you are looking into stuff! It made me do the same thing. My boyfriend and I talked about my 'demons in the closet' that may have triggered my problems with food and weight. It narrowed down to my mother and some other things too. I think by analysing myself it will only better help me with my goals and gain control over my stuff!!
  14. Hey everybody! I just finished watching Ruby on Style network. This show is very inspirational to me. I really appreciated this episode because it really touched on food addiction and causes for it. It was emotional for me and kinda therapeutic! I recommend everyone check out tonight's episode, it might make a difference. Strength to all!
