  1. I am also a 7p-7a RN. I make my eating schedule from 9am-9am (hope that makes sense). My main meal is ususally at 1 am. I eat something small around 5 pm, a snack at 10pm, another at 5am. If I am starving I may eat something when I get home and then go to bed.
  2. I have been seeing posts like this lately and I have to agree with Betsy. You are being a little unrealistic. First, stop weighing yourself everyday. You just had surgery, use this time to heal and not lose weight. The purpose of the liquid diet is not weight loss, it is to allow yourself to heal. You had lap band surgery and not bypass, so the preocess is going to be slower and more work.

    Terrible itching from binder

I haven't seen anyone speak of a binder, but it would have been nice to have when moving around. If the itching is from the actual binder material then line it with a towel or put it over a thin tshirt. If its your incisions...its just the process (sorry).
  4. As stated before, you have to stop comparing yourself to others. I went for my first fill and was down 27 lbs and was disappointed because it wasn't what others had lost. I had to stop looking at this site for a couple of weeks because it was depressing me comparing my weight loss to others. You have lost 23 pounds! Thats amazing! Don't discount your progress.
  5. I am doing good so far. There is about a centimeter of my port incision that refuses to close and the sutures came out yesterday so it is really open. I am supposed to go for my 1st fill 4/14, but if it is still open I doubt he will do it. I was already put on antibiotics before to prevent an infection there. I hope your fill goes well. You have to let me know how you feel afterwards. Hope things are going well. The weight loss has slowed down but is steady, I can't complain.

    cheese?????????

I don't eat pepper jack but I do eat a cheese stick everyday. I am still fairly early in my Band life but it doesn't seem to be affecting me. I am still playing around with protein and various foods to see what works.

    Decent tasting Protein shake mix

I ordered the Bariatric Eating sample pack last week (thanks Betsy) and have fallen in love so far. I hated Protein powders but I these are descent. The unflavored isn't gritty and you can barely taste it. I like the sangria and caramel latte so far. The ice cream sandwich was a bit much. I suggest that you get the sample packs and see what you like. Those that do you the BE Inspire...it says to mix the flavored ones with Water, have you tried mixing with anything else?

    What do you all do?

I am an RN (cardiac) and full-time student pursing forensic nursing.

    curves, gym, or what?

dontgoggilme - we always seem to have the same questions. I am glad you posted this one. Betsy - thanks for reminding me why I quit Curves to begin with. My job pays for free membership there but I can't support the anti-woman owner even though individual franchise owners may be good. BTW...I think you should go to the base because it is free and sounds convenient. Those people would probably be more supportive than you think.
  10. I am 3 weeks out and still sore at the port site but want to start exercising . I go back to my strenuous nursing job on Friday and that will be some help. How soon did you start exercising and what did you start doing? p.s. I try to look through archives before posting but couldn't find anything relevant.
  11. Compression shirt! I love that idea, I didn't even know they existed. I have to hold my port site when I sneeze (I sneeze a lot) to keep it from hurting. Thanks for the input.
  12. I HATE supplemental protein, I think it tastes disgusting. I know no protein is going to be tasteless but I am looking for close to it. Anyone have a protein supplement that they swear by that you can barely taste?

    supplemental protein

Thanks for the input. Maybe I will contact the companies to see if they have any samples.
  14. I am so sorry you guys are so miserable. I can relate, but I was miserable from the PAIN. At my post op they told me to start advancing my diet, so see if it is ok to advance. If I had to drink another Protein shake I would have died. I also chewed and spit it out just to have the texture and taste...I know, gross. I thought I made a mistake with WLS and still have those thoughts but not as often...only time will tell if it was worth it. As annoying and disgusting as the Protein shakes are see if you can get your protein in somehow else. The protein really made me feel better mentally and physically. Not pain free yet, but getting there.
  15. Have you had enough Protein or any protein? I know when I was on liquids I was constantly dizzy and had to move to pureed faster than scheduled because I wasn't getting protien. I agree with the BP post also. There are a number of things that can make you dizzy that aren't related to the band.
  16. Congrats on not weighing! It is better to wait and be surprised but I am not that disciplined with the scale. I stopped weighing every day, now its about every 3 days or so and I only record on Saturday.
  17. glad to see someone else had a harder recovery. not that it is a good experience, but it lets me know i am not a baby when it comes to pain. who are these people that are back to working in a couple of days? :) BTW...i am patrice from ohio.

  18. I am a nurse that stands, lifts, and walks often, and have been off for 14 days so far. I was scheduled to go back this week but because of the port incision still being sore (4/10 pain), I decided to go back next week. Take more time if you need it. If I had a desk job, I probably could have gone back 1 week later.
  19. I am exactly 14 days out and am still sore at my port incision. It was about 4 days out when I was able to get up on my own without excrutiating pain. It still hurts to bend over. Everyone is different and this recovery has been hard. I thought I was weird when I looked at everyone returning to work a week out...I never could have returned to work then. Just listen to your body and focus on healing.
  20. i am reading these horrific stories about food getting stuck and just want to know how does this happen? is it getting stuck in the band area? does it feel like you swallowed something wrong? and sliming, where is it coming from? excuse my newbie ignorance, i just want to be prepared when this happens.
  21. thank you so much. i really appreciate the warning about pasta, bread and brocolli (which i love). i guess i figured that it got stuck in the stoma but i was not getting the sliming part. i hope this never happens, but at least if it does i am more prepared. thanks again.
  22. Hey, we were banded the same day! I am still on liquids until next Tuesday the 16th. I am alright with it right now since I get full after 1/3 of a can of cream of chicken soup. I was not prepared for the pain in my port site but it is getting better. How is your recovery going? Have you started back to work or workout?

  23. i was surprised at the amount of pain on the port site for the first week (its getting better now:thumbup:). i am also surprised at the amount of burping i do now and that i have really only been hungry once.
  24. I have not had any issues with poop other than being too regular. I would definitely call your regular MD and your surgeon. Not going for long periods of time can make it start to affect other systems and you don't want any additional problems. Make an appointment very soon.
  25. I just got banded 3/2/10 and it has been officially a week. I wish I was prepared for the pain at the port site. It has started to decrease to about a 7/10 the past 2 days, however it feels so heavy. I can only lay on my back because if I lay on my side it feels like a dumbell trying to get out of my abdomen. I also have to sit straight up in a chair (not on a couch or something soft) to not feel it jabbing me. Does this go away? p.s I am so glad I found this site, it is awesome!
