Reflux after a fill?
i have always kept my band on the tight side, so twice ive had bad acid reflux. but not right after my fill. i take protonix daily now to prevent any future problems. i had to take some fill out both times , to heal. i go back for a fill tuesday and this time i will not fill so tight. i try not to eat late at nite anymore. i dont eat much during the am since im tighter in the morning, i can eat better in the evening. i drink my protein shakes during the day and eat a healthy meal at nite, i feel better when i eat light. ask about the protonix if you have trouble again. protonix block the production of acid . pepcid helps control the acid , maybe take that daily first.

Any one use Dr. Daniel Huacuz-Tijuana?
i think dr. huacuz is a very kind and caring surgeon. i had my band put in last november and i have lost 80lbs. dr.huacuz has his own surgery center . i went to him for another operation that was totally unrelated to my band. i went to him even though i have complete medical coverage here in the us. i went to him because i trust him and i knew he would get me in quickly and take good care of me. im not just a number or another case. dr.huacuz has the best medical staff . i feel so confident in him that i sent all my friends. so far all are very satisfied. i had such a great experience that i want people to feel safe and secure going to mexico for surgery. i can only say good things about dr.huacuz. i also think dr romero is the best nutritionist ive ever met. he gave me the best info on what to eat and how to eat. i dont always follow the RULES perfectly, but having the correct information on how to eat and take care of yourself after getting banded is essential to your success. dr.romero takes the time to go over everything with you and also is available to call and talk to after you get home. i can only say that im so lucky that i went to dr. huacuz. he is nice yes, but he is more importantly , genuine, caring and talented.

Shopping for a Dr. in Mexico
good luck with your surgery. sounds to me like you chose dr. ortiz. i went to dr. huacuz. im happy with all they did for me. did you find a fill dr in your town. you may want to have your lapband dr. give you a fill needle to bring back with you. dr huacuz gave me one and i had to use it when i needed to get unfilled due to a bad gerd attack. my er doc took out some fill for me. the inmed book that comes with your band tells how to unfill. fyi in case you ever need it. im happy with my band. i keep it tight and i have to be more careful in the future to not get the acid reflux. i wasnt eating enough and eating only before bed. not cool. can cause erosion. ask lots of questions and dont rush the weight loss. it will come off. i hope you have a great experience. i did.

What r signs of Slippage
hi. i just had some fill taken out . i was too tight. i always liked to keep my band tight, but after getting acid reflux a few times, i decided to be smart and not push it . i could do permenent damage to my esophogus and stomach. i dont like puking up acid and not getting fluids down. plus i wasnt eating enough. too much acid in my stomach. i have to be more careful. i always try to push too hard. i feel great now. im going to wait a few weeks and rest up. maybe have a mini fill after that.

How much does the surgery cost in Mexico?
the prices vary from dr. to dr. the going rate seems to be in the 6500-9000 dollar range. check the prices by calling. i went to dr. huacuz. the price was the deciding factor. i think dr. kuri and dr. huacuaz in tijuana are the 2 top lapband doctors. i really think you would find dr. huacuz to be excellent. i felt safe with him. i lost 80 lbs and have no problems except a few times acid reflux. i get my fills done there too. call around and ask questions. tijuana is actually pretty cool. the people are so nice. i enjoyed the hotel . very nice. my price for the band included everything. the bonus was the great staff and service i recieved. good luck. hope you can work it out . my insurance would not cover mine so i chose to go to mexico. i was a bit nervous. i just went for it. i had worked out for a year with a trainer. tried every diet. i needed the lap band. thank god for the band.

Would I get the Band again?
wow, all this band removal talk is scary. i have no control of my band, it has a mind of its own. one day i can eat , the next nope. somedays i can drink in the morning, some days i have to wait till it relaxes. i cant figure a pattern. i dont eat much at all. i do drink lots of water and protein shakes. i am losing very well. at this point i dont have damage that myself or dr. huacuz is aware of. i do check myself with xrays since i work in a hospital. but would i see if i have erosion? how do you know if you have erosion? is it painful.??

New Girl
hi new girl. the first month is the hardest. we all have to learn to adjust to our new way of eating. the longer you can stay on fluids the better you will heal. after a while you lose the desire to eat as much. the hunger will lesson slowly. at least it did for me. everyone seems to have their own unique experience with there band. you will lose the weight. just dont rush the healing stage. when i started to eat solid foods, i was cautious. i take a few small bites , wait and make sure they go down ok and then take another bite. i have to eat so slow. i drink protein shakes to keep up my energy and i take liquid vitamins and l-cartanine on a daily basis. good luck. get your rest too.

Our home gym
i love the elliptical. easier on the knees , but also works the butt and thighs . i think it is more fun and enjoyable than the treadmill. also it is less noise. on the treadmill i felt like i was thumping along. i can always walk and run outdoors. good idea to get a high quality one. i love the ones i use at the gym, but i wouldnt like the cheaper models. maybe you can get a deal for a used one. i think they are expensive if you buy new.

Annoying People
when i went to mexico for my lapband, i only told my sister, and i went alone. i told my family when i was home . at first i only told a few people at work....my boss , in case i got sick. but later after losing weight and feeling good , a lot of people were asking me how i was doing it, i decided to share with others in hopes of helping them to acheive my success. so i tell people who are obese and searching for help. it makes me happy to share with others in hope that they too can be as healthy as possible. the lapband is the best thing for me. im very grateful that i have had very little discomfort and no complications....so far. knock on wood!!!

Greetings
GOOD LUCK i think you will do fine . the transition for me took about a month. for me the discomfort i felt the first time i ate too much was enough to keep me from ever doing it again. im very careful to eat slow . i try a bite or two of something. then wait. then if it goes down ok, ill eat a few more bites. it is amazing how little food we need in comparison to what we eat. the lapband puts it in perspective. this was the best thing i ever did. i tried everything. i still ate too much. now i have to make myself eat enough. you will feel so much better after a few months. i feel great. i feel light and healthy. dont rush the weight loss. it will happen. just heal up and follow the RULES. hope all goes well for you.

Any one use Dr Daniel Huacuz
i just went to dr. huacuz for surgery totally unrelated to my band . i work in a hospital in the usa and i would rather go to mexico to this doctor over the ones here. i like the attention and service i get from his staff. i feel safe with dr. huacuz, i think he is honest and genuine. many of my friends have gone down to him on my reccommendation and they are very happy with there band. i lost 75 lbs in 11 months. i am a real patient. i write about him often because i think he is very safe and trustworthy. he has his own surigical center now and i was just there . it is very nice. very clean and brand new. the staff is very proffessional and kind. the hotel is across the street and convienent. i like the driver victor. he makes me laugh and tells me all about tijuana. i dont know anyone who is unhappy with him. i hope people will do the research. dr. huacuz is a big time surgeon in tijuana. check his background. i did before i went. i also chose him because the price was the lowest and i paid cash. i made the right choice for me. i am so glad i went. i am on his website.

Dr. F. Daniel Huacuz Guizar
I went to dr. huacuz a year ago for my lapband. i have had all 4 fills done by him since. i have lost 75lbs. i am very happy with the care and service i recieved. dr huacuz does and excellent fill. i just returned from tijuana , i went and had surgury for something totally unrelated to the band. i chose to go to dr. huacuz instead of my US DOCTOR. i have insurance too , but i have more confidence in dr. huacuz. i was very pleased to see his new surgical center that he just opened . he has his own private hospital and operating rooms. the place looks fabulous. i love his staff . im feel great after my operation. i hope you call or go see him . i tell all my friends to go to him. so far 3 of my girlfriends have gone for lapbands. they are all thrilled and love dr. huacuz. i think you will too. good luck.

surgery in the morning, nervous wreck
GOOD LUCK, i think soon you will feel better about yourself as you lose the weight. i try not to rely on others to make me happy , yet look within and try to be grateful for all i have and all my blessings. i think it is hard to be married and then suddenly be single, though ive never been there or done that, but i know that women have the amazing ability to bounce back and enjoy who they are , i think we can do without men way better than they can do without us. maybe because we are very nurturing. but we can nurture ourselves. let us know how you are doing after the surgery. careful not to push it . rest. take care.

Threesome
think of the acronym HOPE. high fiber...35grams daily omega 3 2grams daily probotics...6 billion daily enzymes 1 with every meal i eat the new oatmeal that has high fiber. plus i eat a salad everday. try yogurt without sugar for probotics. flax seed oil and salmon for good fats. you can buy papaya enzymes at health food store. our bodies as we age dont make enough digestive enzymes. we need amylase to break down fats. protease and amylase for starches . check the label. the best way to get enzymes is live foods. apples and berries etc..... try to drink protein shakes. you need 60 grams of protein. if you work out a lot you need more. also my doctor, dr. romero has me take l-cartanine. an amino acid that helps to metabolize fats . drink lots of water. if you take a fiber suppliment dont use psyllium. use oat bran . all organic if you can too. i eat only when im hungry. i have to eat really slow. i eat a lot of fish and salad. i try not to eat junk , but i have had a bit of ice cream too, good luck.

New From Ohio
hi, good for you. im so happy with my band. ive had only minor trouble, that was due to being a tad bit too tight on one fill. i was eager to lose and pushed for a tight fill. now i know better. i just tell everyone to get plenty of protein. gotta keep energy levels up. also exercise. good luck.
