  1. Mine is May 17th too!! I find out the 28th what my pre-op will be! Good Luck!
  2. Mine suggested a week off but he said most people dont listen and are ready to get back within 3-4 days. If noone answers you , you should try posting this question in the post-op , they prolly will be more likely to know!
  3. Congrats on finishing two out of the six months of pre op diet!! I had to do 3 months and tried to lose as much weight as I could... didn't really work very well, school is a big stress for me! As for the being off of work, I cant help you with that, because my date isnt until 5/17, but I did only take a week off, a lot of people say thats enough but it all depends! Anyways! Good luck with your journey, you will do great!
  4. My surgeon hasn't mentioned anything about a pre-op diet to me but I have a pre-op appt a little before two weeks of surgery..so I might find out then.. Maybe you want to call them and just double check? Good Luck!
  5. Ya I live in a suburb of Chicago. My surgeon is in Oak Brook. I get banded 5-17... im so nervous and excited!
  6. Where In IL are you from?
  7. I use to live on meals like this, partly because they were easy and partly because I am in college... but you really should read up on processed foods and all the salt that is in there... its so bad for you!!
  8. chicken and turkey! My personal trainer says "i shall not eat anything that walks on four legs more then once a week" Stay away from rice, breads, pastas, Cereal. And if you do have any of this, make sure its whole wheat. If this was my pre-op diet I would just stay away from it all. Hope you like eggs!! eggs have no carbs and good Protein. I eat lunch meat and pickles a lot for lunch. Be very aware of the nutrition labels, look for low carbs and high protein. You should also try a protein low carb shake, it will refuel you! Oh and i noticed when i was craving carbs i got sugar free Jello and that helped alot!
  9. I hope it works too!! More power to you. Im not sure if I have a pre-op diet yet or what it will be but I should be starting it just as finals are ending! With work, school, and the gym I already am exhausted. Hope everything goes great and we should def keep in touch after surgery!
  10. Naked juice is so delish!!! The Protein one is kinda grainy but its still really good. Its going to get expensive over time though, its about 4 dollars a bottle (here anyways). Have you ever tried Protein powder and make your own, I have noticed it tastes a lot better. Try Bodybuilding.com - Protein Finder! A Search Tool That Finds The Perfect Protein For You! you can search for what your looking for by fat, cals, protein, carbs... I love this website, it has tons of flavors and I always end up buying something different!
  11. Well im in the process of trying to find a new job and im hoping to start (if i get an offer) a week after surgery. I currently work in a bank and will be doing the same thing, so its not a ton of running around, so im keeping my fingers crossed a week will be good!
  12. Ya I haven't told my dad yet, I have no idea how he would even react! I am under his insurance as well as my moms and tried using his as a secondary but they dont cover it so I am hoping he doesnt get the same letter I do, cuz then he will know!!! I dont think I wont ever tell him, because when we go out to eat, he will def figure it out!! But my mom, aunt, and grandma are the only ones who know right now and I think I am going to keep it that way at least until I have the surgery
  13. Yikes... Finals and being on a pre-op diet... GOOD LUCK TO YOU!!!
  14. Did you need the whole two weeks off? I took off one week, im hoping its enough!
  15. Im sorry that you had to go threw something like that, some people just don't know how to keep their rude comments to themselves.. Thanks for the kind works though!
  16. Oh i wasnt! I am glad for your input! Thats why I posted
  17. Well im still very young and I'm not around many people that are heavier and that are trying to lose weight. If someone was to really ask me how I was doing it and they wanted help losing weight, I would prolly tell them but other then that most people I know have never been heavier and had to lose weight, so Im not sure I believe its there business on how I lose it. Just how I look at it I guess :-/
  18. I have tried these! They are prolly one of the better ones out there! I still like making my own shakes with the protein I like, but when Im in a rush, I always make sure I have these in the fridge for a quick grab!
  19. Low carb diets are so hard for the first two weeks! Have you been doing it for longer then that? What I found helpful if I was craving carbs was to get fruit or yougert, but stay away from the breads and pastas. Usually that stops my craving and I never eat carbs past 6-7. If your still having a hard time finding protein you like, you should try Bodybuilding.com - Protein Finder! A Search Tool That Finds The Perfect Protein For You! my trainer suggested it to me and it has all different kinds and flavors! The nice thing about it is that you can search by what you are looking for. Good luck!
  20. Congrats on starting this journey! I'll be banded on 5/17, about a week before you! Are you excited, nervous, having second thoughts? Im all of the above! haha
  21. Congrats!!! I am set for 5/17. It seems like BCBS is one of the easier insurances to get threw! GOOD LUCK!
  22. I am feeling the same way! I set my date for May 17th.. I could have had it May 10th, but I kind of chickened out a bit.. But for me its not really so much that I don't want to stop eating all the foods I eat now, or anything like that, its because i am afraid of the pain. I am such a baby when it comes to pain, i got my wisdom teeth out and I thought I was going to die! The way I am starting to look at it, is that the pain is going to be worth every bit of it!! But i still will be freaking out until they put me under!!!
  23. The best advice I can give you is to start going to meet with lapband doctors. They are there to help you and give you all the information you need and want! They wont force you to get the surgery or pressure you into it. I researched doctors in my area and found one that I thought I would like best, I went to meet him in January and I loved him. Thats when my journey started. They took care of everything and walked me threw every step and just last Friday I found out I was approved and set my date for May 17th!! Good luck, if you have any questions feel free to message me!
  24. Hi! I just turned 22 and I will be banded on May 17th. I am so excited as well as very nervous! I have never met anyone in person that has had the band other then the ladies at my surgeon s office. Feel free to message me whenever! Jeanine
  25. Ya thats all I had to do, was a physch eval, a certain BMI and 5 years of being over weight, oh and 3 month diet, I finished all that and was approved!! I just read people that have to take sooo many tests.
