October 2014 sleevers check in please!

Hi, Just touching base, I am near my goal weight of 175, which is within sight. I am happy about that. I have been called bony by massage therapist. I lost my son in a motorcycle accident in late August and have been numb ever since. Keep hoping I will feel more alive soon. Wishing all the fellow bypass folks a wonderful holiday, hug your family members. Kris

    OCTOBER 2014

Hi Everyone, I have finally found my way back to the site. I also have been reading everyone's posts and have been relieved to see the "stall" has affected nearly all of us. I am about 14 pounds from the 200 pound brick wall I have not broken through in a bazillion years. I was stuck at 215-220 wall for nearly seven weeks. Even with the increase in activity. For me Protein does seem to be the key to losing. I am getting rid of my clothes which is oddly difficult. But they are falling off literally. While I have been stuck I think inches are leaving. I'll take inches. I really love this group, even if I am not talking all that much. Just saying...

    OCTOBER 2014

Hello October gang, Been awhile since I posted, although I have avidly read everything. My three month anniversary was 9 days ago. I am at nearly 50 pound WL, so my weight is not falling off.. more like a constant drip. I am back to my next size down clothes, hooray. I mostly wear my baggy sweats though, unless going out in public, for warmth and comfort. I find I am still tired and although my 3 month check up went well, I was told to eat more, and work on Iron rich foods. My Vitamin D was low so I am back on Replesta which is an OTC 50,000 unit chewable pill (have to ask for it /order it). This has been an issue since before my lapband in 2009. Living in the gloomy NW doesn't help. Go away gray skies! Speaking of gloomy my husband and I survived a 2x rollover car wreck on January 9th thanks to a quick lowering of a freezing fog/black ice. Car was totalled but it did its job and protected us from life-threatening injuries (1999 Subaru Forester). 1 broken rib- (my husband-who was driving) I had seat belt bruising, and I had head and neck issues. Not to mention I looked like a blue and green Dalmatian for awhile. Thanks to Arnica gel and tablets the bruises faded quickly. The mind game for icy roads may take a bit longer. Met some great neighbors though. No property damage to his fence as we were bounced over the fence. Only 6 miles from the farm, geez. Will be having my fourth surgery in little over a year to replace my horrid right knee sometime soon. Then watch out, I will be fully mobile with both knees working and no more pain. My left knee was done March last year. All in all I really appreciate the support on this blog that everyone shares. Should have done more when I had my lap band. Live and learn.. Thanks gang!

I didn't think I needed to be on a site like this... I was very wrong. Even though I don't know you I have learned that yes I do. That we are on this journey, not alone and that there are folks that understand your joy as well as the pain. I am glad that I did really join this group this time. I know now I will succeed! Blessings to everyone!
  11. We have a neighbor who has a HUGE ranch and he has a herd of about 100 head. We took the senior bull as he had taken to jumping fences and wandering. He was very large. This year we will go for a younger bull. At any rate where are you... what state? This is a good time to hunt.
  12. My husband hunts too and we took an 1800 pound bison before I had WLS. We had also had two pigs butchered. Sooooo we traded for veggies and beef with our neighbor and whenever I cook and have leftovers, either the dogs get it or the llamas or the pigs (until we sold them). Now the fun way we share. What I've done is I cook dinner and take it to our neighbors every once in awhile. We only have 3 in a close by and that way I satisfy my urge to cook for the fifth army, and I get to eat tiny amounts and visit! I don't mind leftovers and neither does our farm manager so that takes care of the rest. Husband doesn't like leftovers, but even he has taken to eating some LOL. By the way, bison is the best meat ever. Just cook it really slowly till it falls apart. We have been blessed with an abundance of farm fresh food and as long as I keep it small, share and compost the rest, life is good!
