Who cares if it's a bit snug. What a difference between a size 30 to a 24 in only 4 little months. I'm proud, impressed and you are awesome. In case you don't understand the southern language proud means happy. I had to learn that when I moved to Texas.
  2. Milk 4 times a day and that's it? I would have really lost the lots weight because I can't stand milk unless it's got something in it like chocolate or as a milkshake. I probably would have had a straight water diet.
  3. If your town is like mine if you tell the right person everyone is going to know. I had to tell my parents in my inhome daycare. One of them works for my primary doctor. I went the clinic the week after my surgery and everyone in there knew. I really like the reaction when people see me for the first time in awhile and after just 30# see how I look. I haven't seen my family (brothers and sisters) and won't for another month. They live in a different state. I'm anxious to see if they will notice because at Christmas I was wearing my hiding clothes. Only 2 of my sisters know and the others haven't been told. I haven't even told my mother. When I go back home I will really have to stay on my mom because she always wants to cook for me and it's usually foods that she can't eat because of being diabetic and a bunch of other problems. Like others have said, it's personal and if you don't want to tell just say you are really watching what you are eating and have really cut back. And that's the truth isn't it?
  4. Wedding dresses run smaller than regular size dresses. My daughter wore a size 12 regular and her wedding dress was an 18, because of the waist measurement. It fit her perfect so don't go ordering something a lot smaller. I am a seamstress and have altered several wedding dresses even though I hate doing them. It's possible to take in a dress but you can't let out a bunch it there isn't any seam allowence in the dress. Most wedding dresses have big seam allowences on the top but if you take a bunch out of the top then the skirt will need to be totally adjusted too. I'd find out how long it will take to get the dress in and then wait longer to order it.
  5. It doesn't look like you are getting very many proteins in your diet and a lot of carbs. Don't forget you 68 oz of water a day too. That really helps wash out calories and keeps you hydrated.
  6. I wonder why that girl was eating chips and ice cream. Those are 2 things that made me fat to begin with. The lap band is just a tool to help you change to a healthier eating style, not a solution in itself. I believe she was working against her band instead of with it. It really would be interesting to see a eating log of hers.
  7. I sure hope you can find a doctor somewhere that knows what he/she's doing. You might want to do a lot of research on this site and see if you can come up with a doctor that someone else is really pleased with. Good luck . 70 pounds is really nothing to frown about. Keep up the good work
  8. Yes, 24 hours and I'm about to starve. I'll probably have to do 24 hours after too. Isn't it funny how the different docs require different things when we all have the same adjustments inside.
  9. Your experience was identical to mine, word for word. I agree with it all. I'm also using Mease for my fills which the first will be tomorrow the 27 and I can't wait.I haven't been hungry until this week, and today on liquids for my pre-fill diet I think I'm starving. My banding was on 3/17. I had 2 friends in Mt. Pleasant who went through Ready4aChange and highly recommended it.

We were banded the same day. I've lost 27 pounds. The first 2 weeks I lost 15 but it slowed down after that. I really work hard at paying attention to what goes into my mouth. I have my first fill on Friday and am really glad because I also feel like I could eat everything. I quit eating because I'm a self pay sure don't want to blow those big bucks on a few minutes of so called pleasure.
  11. My incisions all healed but one on the far right within 2 weeks. For some reason that one took longer. About a week after it was healed it began to fester some and my nurse friend said it looked like a stitch was working it's way up. It got bad and infected so my pp gave me any antibiotic but one spot kept breaking open every day. It would be all closed every morning. On Monday I put a stirle strip on it and have yet to take it off. At least the infection is gone and it doesn't hurt anymore. I have a fill on Friday so will have the doc look at it then.

HELP!!!!!!! I know I need a brain adjustment. 5 1/2 weeks out, 25 # gone but at a stand still, scheduled for a fill on Friday. I put on my old clothes at home and think I'm looking good. Yesterday I went to a store with my daughter so she could get some shirts. While waiting for her I looked in the mirror to see how good I looked and all I saw was that fat woman. How do you get rid of the fat woman? I know I'm a long ways away from where I need to go , but I've come a long way in 5 weeks but I must change my mental image.I know all about positive self talk but if you say it but don't believe it what good is it. I'm glad this thread is here so I can spill my feelings to others who would understand. Thin or average size friends just don't know what I'm talking about.

What amazes me is how fast the different joint pain goes away. Before my surgery my lower right back and right knee hurt so bad all the time that I waddled like a very pregnant woman. I realize that I was on pain meds in the hospital but neither pain was there whenever I got back home and hasn't had any since. A few pounds will make a tremendous difference. I can't wait until I get to goal to see what I can really do. I'm anxious for a Colorado trip because my sister's family does a lot of mountain walking and this time I'll be able to do it and even keep up.

Rosi, I know what you mean about not spending much time apart even after 29 years. I'm not trying to get sympathy but my husband passed away 2 weeks short of 30 years and I have been lost since, for 5 years. The strange thing is he was a runner, ate healthy and of the normal weight. Myself on the other hand didn't exercise, ate junk and overweight. So I should have been the one with the killer stroke , not him. Anyway, now I'm trying to improve my health with eating correctly. I'm 5 weeks out, lost 25 # and going for my first fill on Friday. I'm sort of scared but figure it can't be any worse than the actual surgery.
  15. I need help with breakfast ideas that have a lot of protein in them. I'm tired of eggs. I know the shakes have a lot of protein but being liquid they would just run through. I live in a small town with very little available to purchase. Please help .
  16. I'm 4 weeks post op and had my first drink on Friday nite, a Smirnof Ice. It was before a meal. Honestly, I didn't feel anything. I've heard that you feel it sooner but never felt a thing.
  17. I had never heard of being on any special diet before surgery until I started reading it on here. The night before my surgery I had a huge steak, potatoes, as much salad as the plate would hold and a beer. I guess if I ever have a problem it could be linked back to that last huge meal. Only kidding of course.
  18. I'm 3 weeks out today and for the first time I've been really hungry today. I have my first fill scheduled for the 27th. Hope this hunger doesn't happen every day. Tonight I think I could eat anything I see but the big bucks spent keep flashing in front of my eyes. Any suggestions on how to feel full for 2 and half weeks.
  19. I know what you mean but just think about all the fat naked bodies these people see every day . If you've ever had a baby you have no modestity left anyway.

I'm 3 weeks out. I followed the food plan for 5 days of each week they suggested and just tried things to see how my stomach could handle them. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones because I've had no problems with anything I've eaten. Even yesterday my daughter had a beef jerky on the way home from Wally World and I took a bite and chewed and chewed and chewed and chewed. Yes, they can be chewed to mush. It tasted so good. I'm not really sure what restriction feels like because for so many years I considered myself full whenever my stomach hurt from over eating. I've really had no problems with stopping whenever I am no longer hungry. I've always been a foodaholic but I'm not finding it that hard to stop eating. I think part of that stems from the $ signs I see that I spent and think I don't want that to be wasted money. Heaven knows I've wasted enough in the past on diet stuff and have failed at everyone. This time is going to be different. I've even been able to not eat the Easter chocolate that is laying around here. Today I had oatmeal for breakfast, refried beans with a little salsa and cheese for lunch. I'm getting hungry so I'm going to have some deli turkey breast and green beans, and perhaps jello or applesauce. Later the milk shake with an extra scoop of flavorless whey protein. I've lost 19 pounds so far. Tomorrow I'm calling to get an appointment for a fill at the end of the month. :nervous
  21. One big reason I got so big was because I hated to cook just for myself after cooking for someone for 30 years. I would find myself just grabbing something to eat for supper or whenever I was hungry. I was wondering about frozen dinners. I was at Wally world today and was checking them out with about 220 calories and 15 to 20 grams of protein. Are these acceptable? I realize I should be making things from scratch but use no time as an excuse. I figure those are better for me than ordering a pizza and eating at least half of it.
  22. I had mine done in Monterrey, Mexico with Dr. Zapata. He worked with Dr Sanchez until Sanchez was killed in a shooting of some sort. Anyway Sanchez was very instrumental in getting the lap band FDA approved in the Us. I believe he was a leader in the development of procedure. I had a very good experience there. I went through www.ready4achange and they basically took care of everything for me. My only regret I have is that when people say contact your surgea, it's kind of hard to do. Of course I haven't had any problems yet to contact my surgean about. Of course you also have the language barrier outside of the hospital and motel but my son and I did manage.
  23. I'm 3 weeks out and have a question about water. Everyone talks about sipping the water or else they have problems. I've been able to drink my water just like I did before surgery. I don't guzzle it like before but I just drink out of a glass with gulps and not sips. Is something wrong with me that I should be concerned about?
  24. I've been so busy I usually just take time to read my e-mail, much less answer it. Between the day care (and the kids have been wild this week with weather change and Easter) , working on my Pampered Chef business, and making flower girl and bridesmaid dresses for my son's wedding in May I keep out of trouble. I have had some major accomplishments I think. Last Sunday, 2 weeks out, I had lost 15 pounds. I put on a pair of jeans last night that I attempted to wear to a football game last fall and they buttoned and zipped, even without laying on the bed. I'm anxious to get on a scales again. I don't even own one. They were always my mortal enemy. It's about time for kids and have other computer work to do. Have a great day and if I don't hear from you all before Easter have a Happy Easter.

Today I had tuna salad for lunch and it was the first food I've had to chew. I put egg, finely chopped pickle, and fat free mayo and enjoyed every bit of it. I have to say I really haven't been hungry like I thought I would but I can't say I've ever felt full either. I've been able to pass up some really good temptations which has surprised me. Will this not feeling full continue until I get a fill? Perhaps this thread isn't the one I should be asking that on since we're all fairly new at this game.
