  1. I guess I just made a fool of myself. I forgot what site I was on when I was writing. This is lapbandtalk. Sorry , it's probably old age stepping up.
  2. I haven't tried bread as such. I've had a bite of pizza, and a 2 or 3 hush puppies, maybe a tablespoon or two of pasta but that's about it. I was able to eat it with no problem but then again I didn't eat that much. I choose not to eat those things because I believe they are not good for me. I get my carbs with fruits and veggies. Right now, since they're in season, I probably eat more fruit than I should. As I look at it that is better than those other carbs. My downfall pre band was chips of any kind and dip. It surprises me how I have no craving for them now. That too was my fear, would I be able to restrict my craving for chips . I've had no problem. Just don't forget that every body is different and will react differently to to foods. Listen to your body after your banding and it will tell you what you can have. Good luck and keep reading this site. It's full of useful info and ask questions. Another site that is strictly lap band is lapbandtalk.com . It's good because itls about lap bander only.
  3. Good you over 50. Happy Monday. Hope you all had a great weekend. I know I did. I was so lazy. First time in months. I even had the time to read a whole book. I recommend it to all women, Inside My Heart by Robin McGraw. Have a good day.
  4. Good morning Marchies and Happy Monday. I hope you all had a good weekend. Mine was so lazy. First one in months. I actually sat and read a whole book. I highly recommend it to all women, Inside My Heart by Robin McGraw. Have a good day.
  5. I have a couple or responses but to several peope. I haven't figured out how to do the split quotes. My husband taught high school history forever. He would accept late work but with each day late he would take off 10 points right from the top. After 3 days it wasn't accepted and it went in as a 0. Our whole school system pretty well stuck to this policy. In the past 5 years they've gotten a whole new bunch of admins at all levels and we're no longer associated with the school so I'm not sure what the policy is now. It really worked at that time. At some time kids must learn to take responsibility for their own actions and accept consequences for what they don't do or do wrong. I think too many of today's kids are running the family, school, society and all adults. That's part of the problem with all the school shootings and such. That's only my opinion. As far as PBing and sliming in front of the kids, the two times I did both it happened right away. If it would happen I would just tell the kids you have something stuck in your throat which basically you do. I didn't find that it was that gross. It went off and on for about an hour but once the bad guy came up it was fine. It's not projectile vomiting, it comes up smooth and easy. Don't get me wrong it does hurt. After the food comes up, in the same consistency as it went down, the sliming is sort of like coughing up phlem. It doesn't stink like vomit. Texas does start in August but this year it's now law the kids can't start until about the last week. I know this past year my daughter had to go back for inservice on the 3 or 4 of August. Made me glad I am retired. I know what you mean about wanting to get rid of a bunch of kids. It seems I felt that way at the end of the year for the last several years that I taught . There's always a few terds in every class that can make the whole year miserable.
  6. I only had stirle strips and they told me to just let them come off by themselves. It was about 2 weeks before they were completely gone then I had a spot that I thought didn't looked healed enough so I put another on on it.
  7. How do these proteins taste? I haven't found one on BE yet that I haven't liked. I'm not pushing either but just wanted to know.
  8. I bought me a spagetti squash. Now someone please tell me how to cook it.
  9. We must get back to where we belong, on the first page. Not complaining but I'm having more and more trouble trying to find something to wear to church. Since I work at home I just wear grungies all the time. I have very few clothes to wear out and am too cheap to go buy new ones right now. I guess it's time to hit Goodwill or someplace like that. I have a 4 day conference trip to Chicago coming up and will definately need at least 4 decent outfits for that, not dressy or fancy but decent.
  10. I had my first really bad case of PB and slimming tonight. One other time I pbed carrots but they came up and it was over. Tonight I took a bite of beef bean burrito and not thinking because I was hungry, didn't chew very much. Immediately I knew I did the wrong thing. I spent time in the bathroom slimming at first then PBed. For at least an hour I went back and forth to the bathroom with slime. I finally caughed up a piece of tortilla shell about the size of my small finger nail and began to feel better. I drank a cup of hot tea and then felt better. Boy, I've learnt my lesson on chewing. I read about it but have now really experienced it. Hope it's the last
  11. I really liked Dr. Querrey. She took time to ask questions and listen to my concerns. Ididn't realize she had 3 offices.
  12. I don't know about Longview but Pittsburg which isn't far from Longview has a Dr. Kathleen Quarrey that I just went to and I really like her. If interest just IM me.
  13. Stupid question, What is an erosion and how common are they?
  14. My port site was really sore for a long time but the outside healed within 2 weeks. They told me to just let the stirle strips fall off on their own. I had trouble with the incision on the opposite side. I kept a stirle strip on it for about 4 weeks. It had gotten infected but I don't know why. My GP gave me an antibiotic for the infection and in about a week it cleared but sstill had an ugly scab for a long time.
  15. DR.C My doctor said he stitched a small portion of my stomach around the band in order to help prevent slippage. My question is if I get the stomach virus that seems to go around every year and have sever vomiting with that, is there a good possibility of slippage? After all that case scenerio is our of our control.
  16. I find that my port will seem to move whenever I lay down. I was told my port was stitched to a muscle to avoid flipping. I think as you move all your innererds move around some. I've always been able to feel my port on the outside. As you loose weight there isn't as much fat to cover it us so that's why you can feel it more.
  17. After my first fill the doctor told me to drink something hot first thing in the morning and last thing at night. He said the hot liquid would wash out the pouch, especially in the morning,. He sort of compared it to a drain with some grease build up. I've been doing that. Not sure is that would help the choking feeling at night. I have a cup of decaf flavored hot tea last thing every night.
  18. I really like that quote and I think that all of us who have had wls were completely insane because you all were probably like me and did the same thing over and over with the same results. I wish I had kept track of all the weight i lost and money I've spent in the past 59 years pre banded. I'll bet the money would have paid for banding years ago. That includes pills, books, organizations like weight watchers and everything else. Hindsite is always better than foresite.
  19. Great accomplishment. Keep your goals reachable and not set them too high. With each one accomplished set the next. 190 is a great goal for June.
  20. You have to be patient with it all. I wasn't hungry until I started on real food again. It comes and goes now. I've had 2 fills. I find if I keep busy I'm not hungry so that tells me it's head hunger not real hunger. If it were real it wouldn't go away when busy. I had diarreha so bad for a week so I can't give advice on that. I couldn't get too far froma bathroom and definately didn't want to pass gas because sometimes it would be more. Everything finally settled down. To get rid of gas just walk a lot and try gas x. I still have more gas than I ever did pre banded
  21. There's a new karate place that just opened uptown. Now when I say uptown I really mean uptown because I live in Omaha, TX, pop of less than 1000. After I get back from my July of traveling I'm going to check it out to see if he has something for old ladies to do or if it's all for the young. I figure it would be good exercise and self defense. Besides that I can walk and not use gas. The gas issue was one of the main reasons I quit Curves . I had to drive a ways and 3+ times a week ran into money. Has anyone else tried Karate?
  22. I've probably done lost it after 5 1/2 years.
  23. Having to buy new clothes EVERY season because last years didn't fit anymore. The wiping the butt was starting to be a problem. Pain in my back and knees. Too tired to even give a crap about anything.
  24. Hey, I know this is probably not the place but thought perhaps some older, not really older, would be interested in conversing with a 59 year old banded woman who has lost 40 lbs. in 2 and 1/2 months. Just let me know. I live in Texas and thought I'd give this a chance. Linda:high5::dance:
  25. I've heard that the burn center in Tyler Texas will do the same thing. I'm not sure where the surgery is done but I heard this long before I had surgery.
