The cold months sure puts a damper on appetites. Gearing up for some serious weight loss now. READY AGAIN.

    Fat Jokes Continue

You could do two things: 1) ignore them or 2) you could let them know that what they are saying is not right in the workplace. If it persists after try approaching the supervisor. If it gets to where the supervisor does nothing, you have the option to voice an Equal Opportunity Complaint--whalla. After all their actions makes you feel uncomfortable. Nowadays we do not tolerate that kind of behavior in the workplace. Straight and to the point.

    fear of gain it back

Don't worry, stay cool and be patient as it's a long term process. You will have pleateau's and they will pass, as I have had and still. I lost 3 kg's but gained it back after 20 days, but it's a focus thing and patience. Rem that when you loose fat, it turns to muscle-gain. Be patient stay the course and you will see. For me it's back to the basic's: liquids, mushies, and solids. Maybe another fill, my 5th. I have 7 cc's in a 10 cc band. Don't worry too much. Enjoy

    Don't understand why I can't lose..?

Don't worry, it will start dropping, we all reach a stagnation in weight loss but it works, hang in there. I went two weeks before I began to loose, stick with the diet and exercise. remember fat turns to muscle which still has weight. It takes time. My average loss per month has been 5#s since 4 Jan 10. It's a long term process so just hang in there.

    A New Life

Yes your not alone. Everyone diet's a little different. Eat meat high in protein: fish, chicken, beef, etc. Chew them up. I had to eat beef by cutting it up with scissors into smaller bite sizes, it works. Follow the lap band diet, liquids, mushies, and solids. And if you find yourself running astray, go back to this diet plan, it keeps me on track. I have even tested my band to the limit on purpose, yes it works. Stay positive and be patient--you will loose the #s.

    What is a fill?

The first week I had chicken noodle soup, protein shakes (Ensure) and fish. Any kind of fish, baked or boiled. The fish is more soft and chewable and digests well. Two eggs for breakfast made into an omelet with cheese. Or just a shake and a multivatamin. Lunch was tuna salad and 5 small crackers. The second week I added mushies-mashed potatoes and pork and beans (soft), I tried oatmeal. When I went to solids I was eating 3/4 cup meats-fish, chicken, or some beef. For the beef you have to cut it up into small bite size pieces and chew. There seems to be no restrictions on the types of foods I can eat, but try to leave out pasta and bread. Once a week I have been eating out with the family at resturants-had a Big Mac-take out the middle bread and lettuce-lettuce gives me some trouble. Eat slowly and chew. Oh you can buy high protein meals from the grocery store. Check them out. I only buy high protein meals. For Lunch at work I eat tuna salad and crackers, then drink water for 3 hours. Once home I eat around 5 to 6. Then it's water. If I feel hungry I will eat a sugarless popsicle. Basically high protein items like fish and chicken are best. Boil them or bake them. Hope this helps. Read my previous blogs if you like.

    when does weight loss start

First let me say that weight loss is long term. Like myself, I have lost a lot at first, then reached a pleateau, then gradual loss. Average 5.67#s a month. This too depends on the person-each individual is different. Some loose alot and others gradually. I don't count calores but do count protein. 60 to 80 grams a day. I have not begun a vigorous exercise program but that's in the works. I have weighted myself everyday too. One thing to remember is that when fat is burned, it turns to muscle--that means weight is gained. It takes time to settle but eventually the scales will fall. Protein and calories are a two some. I know I eat less than 1,000 calories a day but protein is good. Remember that after each fill from the doc, you should begin: liquids for a few days, then mushies, followed by solids. This is the basic formula-which I resort too all the time when I don't seem to be loosing enough. Hang in there, all is well, just stay on course.

    What is a fill?

The first fill may sting alittle but not enough to ge excited about, after that your next fills are a piece of cake--hardly feel anything. A walk in the park. In Nov I will be ready for my 5th. Some folks go long periods of time without needing a fill, it's totally up to the individual. That is a good thing--then when you feel like you need to eat often, then it's time to see the doc for a fill.

    Vitamin suggestions

I use CHLORELLA 100%. a Korean Brand of multivitamin. and also One a Day. Of course I chew it up first before digesting.
  16. Hi, I am doing fine, jus readjusting after my trip to the states. Getting ready to begin a vigorous exercise push in Nov and Dec. Ready for another fill, just planning on when to go. I currently have 7 cc in a 10 cc band. It takes a full day to travel to get my fill in Seoul Korea.

    Its been awhile ....

Great for you. This preparation prior to surgery is to ensure you can handle the lap band diet, your doing fine. The surgery works, and it is long term, so be patient and always be positive. There will be lag times in weight loss but it will average out. My average is 5.6#s a month. At first I lost 10 to 15 a week then it tappers off. Basics is liquids, musshies, and solids. When my weight stagnates I return back to the basics, it helps me. Good luck to a healthier lifestyle. You will look great once you reach your goal.

    HELP...How to tell...????

Don't worry, it's your business, I have told a few friends and relatives but i don't care if they support me or not, it's my choice, what I want and you should feel wonderful about yourself that you are taking the steps to finally loose those unwanted #s. You should not care about what others think, this is YOU. What do you think? I feel great, wonderful, excited, energetic, and fabulous that I have elected lap band surgery--after all my wife made all of the arrangements and talked to the doc's Korean docs for me, and all I did was set the date and show up--what a ride on this journey. I have had a blast. Surely you will get lots of comments but remember don't take them personally if they are negative, YOU MUST THINK POSITIVE AND ENJOY YOUR JOURNEY. Remember it's a long term journey so it may take a year to a year and a half to loose--maybe faster. BE HAPPY

    8 More Days

Hi, don't worry, it works, I am like you started out at 270, and I am 5 ft 4 in. Lost 50 since Jan 2010. This surgery is great and it works, plus one thing to remember is it's long term meaning that you will loose but not all in one month. I average 5.6 #s loss a month. No problem eating just eat smaller portions--stick to the lap band diet. You should not get stuck on liquids or musshies. Only solids get stuck if you do not chew, chew, chew. I have had a few experiences--I tested the limits of my band--yes there are limits and you will know--it will come back up. When something gets stuck it does hurt for a while-10 to 30 min. YOU WILL LOOSE WEIGHT. Oh the procedure for lapband surgery in Korea costs, about 7, 000.00 dollars or a little less. People for Canada come to Korea for this surgery too. Pass the word, take a vacation to South Korea and have the surgery, spend a few weeks in the Land of the Morning Calm. Read my blogs and you will see what the benefits are of the surgery. There are many others on this site who are doing well. Some loose more #s than others during the journey, just be PATIENT AND ENJOY THE RIDE.

    In limbo in bandster hell

Fellow bandster, the first rule to remember is that our weight loss is a long term project. Be positive and patient. It's going to take months maybe even a year or so to loose those unwanted pounds. Follow the diet plan and exercise some. I have not really exercised and I am at the 50 # loss mark from 270 beginning 4 Jan 10. It takes time, so be patient. I have lost on average 5.6 #s a month. Yes some of the months was great and some there was no loss but the average for the entire time frame. Eat right, follow the advice of other bandsters and you will do ok. You already took the first step and received the lap band. Now tune yourself for the course and be patient.

    Just curious....

Yes and with pork and beans, good food. Any type of beans cooked is good--protein.

First Business Trip (Almost 5 Months Out)

Congrats! my trip was similar, yours is very very good, love it. Sure makes one lapbander feel really good too. Ken
  24. Thought I would let everyone know what I ate on my recent 3-week trip to the states. The mornings I either had an omelet or a shake with a multivitamin. While at the airport waiting for my departure I had an egg and cheese sandwhich. For Lunch I either had a tuna salad sandwhich, or I ate baked chicken and mashed potatoes. Dinner was a pre maid microwave meal high in protein-get them from the grocery store. I managed to eat out at Sharky's once-a terryakki sandwhich and fries. At my relatives I ate a variety of meal choices, but with caution-lapband limits in mind. Had pizza, spaghetti, meatloaf, trout, baked pots, patti-melt, salads, ham sandwhiches, cheese burger and fries at the airport. Of course on the plane ride, the meals were balanced and just right for any lapbander. All meals were eaten slowly, chewing 30 to 40 times with limited fluid intake at each meal. I actually ate untill I felt full then I stopped eating, yes stopped. Just about had one episode with the patti melt, but I refocused and did not have an incident at a restuarant. One evening while visiting relatives I had pizza twice, but only ate a part of a slice-afterall can't let my relatives down. Anyway to moral of this post is simple--EAT SLOWLY, CHEW, CHEW, CHEW, and ENJOY. I did this and had a wonderful time. Now I am back home, with a weight loss o 2 to 2.5 kg's-down 50#s. This was my goal during my trip, but I did not weight myself while on the trip-only afterwards. I heard that if you can hear your stomach growling, your loosing the #s, well it's now growling at 2 am. Breakfast this morning will be two eggs, toast, and a sip of coffee. Lunch will consist of tuna salad and crackers, and dinner will be baked chicken, baked potatoe and a salad. Keeping it simple, afterall I want to loose more #s. This is a summary of what I ate on my trip to the states. Enjoy your lapbands, I am....:cursing:
