  1. You did great! I probably would have moved the donuts out of my face. Keep up the great work!
  2. I believe cutting back on carbs is good for weight loss. However, it is still calories in and calories out. When you burn 3500 more calories than you take in you loose a pound. IMHO the way most people do atkins is too high in fat. I ate both low carb and low fat and lost 107 pounds in about 10 months. To me, what you say you are eating is simply too much food. If you have restriciton you probably shouldn't be able to eat that much. Maybe you need a fill. I wish you the best!
  3. I agree with the above posts. I wouldn't go into the surgery thinking you will get it loosened anytime you want to be able to eat more. I reached goal in Sept. In january I decided to get a big unfill. I wanted to be able to eat breakfast and to eat bread and pasta. I also didn't want to have to eat as carefully as I did when I was tight. So far it has worked for me. I monitor my weight very carefully, weighing in every day. I pretty much base what I will eat (or not eat) during that day on how much I weighed. Hope this helps and good luck in your decision.
  4. I don't journal but I watch my sugar for sure. Greek yougurt has more protien and less carbs than regular yougurt. I guess the least amount of sugar would be in the plain, although I can't stand the taste. Also plain cottage cheese would have much less sugar than the doubles. I highly reccomend you recommit to an excersise program, it makes a world of difference. Whenever my weight loss stalled I would increase the duration and/or intensity of my workouts and the scale would start moving again. Be sure you are getting all your water (at least 64 oz) and protien (at least 60 gms). Good luck!
  5. I too am thrilled to say I shop in the petite dept. What an NSV!
  6. I agree with the above post- try to workout 5 days a week- it should help. Also, varying your caloric intake may help. Try doing 1000 one day, 1200 the next, 900 after that (just examples). It is suppossed to keep your body guessing so it burns fat. I hope this helps! Best wishes.
  7. Don't think the band will work on it's own. You have to work the band. That means making healthy food choices (at least most of the time) and a regular excersise program. Craving sweets is common. You will probably find that when you stop introducing the sugary stuff into your body, your cravings diminish greatly. I wish you the best!
  8. My 2 cents- just because you got sick doesn't mean you are at restriciton. You said you ate too fast. You may actually need a fill since you are otherwise able to eat what you want. Also- start excersising, if you haven't already. The benefits are just too numerous to pass up. Best wishes!
  9. I have a trainer- she is great. I go to LA Fitness. I go 3 times a week for 25 dollars per 1/2 hour session. I am thinking of increasing it to 4 a week. I had plastic surgery so haven't been going- I start again 2/7- can't wait. I think 2 days may be enough to see results- especially if you do an hour long session. As you learn the moves, you can do some stuff on your own. I highly reccomend getting one if you can fit it into your budget and schedule. They motivate and also make sure you are doing things correctly so you don't hurt anything and get maximum results. Good luck!
  10. Until you reach restriction (wich for many takes 3-4 fills) you are going on sheer will power. I suggest you focus on eating the right foods (low carb/fat, high protein) even if your portions are larger than they will be once you have restriction. Good luck! It does get better.
  11. Awsome! It is so much fun to fit into smaller sizes. I hit my goal in Sept. Recently did shopping with mom and some of the things I bought were a size 0- who would have though. Keep up the good work!
  12. That is great! You are an inspiration. Keep up the good work!
  13. That is a great NSV! I had so many sizes in my closet I bought hardly anything as I was loosing. About 6 bags of clothes have gone to my sister. It was so exciting to fit into clothes I hadn't fit into for years. Keep up the good work! Go shopping!
  14. You are doing everything right! Keep up the good work. I hit my goal weight back in Sept.- was banded nov. 09, so it took about 10 months to loose 107 pounds.
  15. I believe liquids go right down to you big stomach, so don't worry. I disagree with the post that said to drink fresh juice. Juice has lots of calories and natural sugar. Your much better off eating a piece of fruit- you are getting fiber that way. Best wishes!
  16. I ate very little carbs while loosing- no rice, breat, pasta or starchy veggies. Now that I am maintaining I eat the good carbs- whole wheat bread and pasta, brown rice. I have eaten "bad" carbs as well- but try to balance it out with good days. My band is very loose- I had a large unfill after having lots of trouble keeping food down. I don't think I could eat the amount I have, or the bread et... if I was tighter.
  17. My surgeon said you know when the band has slipped because you suddenly can't keep anything down- even water. He told me this happens in only 3% of cases. Try not to worry. I think throwing up is the most common cause of a slip. If you get the flu or something and are vomiting call the doc. and they can prescribe something to stop the vomiting.
  18. Different docs and nutrituitionists say different things. At least that's what I gather from reading posts here. Mine said a balanced diet. 2 servings of calcium and at least 60 grams of protien. I avoided almost all carbs while loosing- just ate those found in non-starchy veggies (no corn, peas, potatoes). I also ate very low fat. A typical meal was about 4 oz. lean meat (lean portloin, chicken or fish) and about 1/2c of veggies. For fruit I ate berries, they are low in carbs. I drank a protien shake for breakfast. For snacks I ate lowfat cheese sticks, nuts (1/4 c) beef jerky. Hope this helps!
  19. that's great! Keep up the good work!
  20. I had significant loose skin after loosing 107 pounds. I had a tummy tuck and boob job last month. Very happy with the results. If your young, I think your skin might be ok. IMHO it has to do with age, weight flucuations, pregnancy et.. I believe if your skin looses elacticity there is not much you can do about it. Probably not what you want to hear, just my opinion.
  21. That is awsome! So many times people use the weather as an excuse to skip a workout. You should be very proud of yourself!
  22. You don't say what you are currently doing. If your not doing theses things I would start- the scale will move I promise! Work out at least 30 min. 4-5 daysa week-break a sweat eat low carb- no sweets, bread, starchy veggies eat low fat- lean meat, nothing fried, lowfat cheese, no butter- just use a little lowfat butter Hope this helps!
  23. I took my meds without any problem- but I think everyone is different. It probably depends on how much swelling you have postop. Good luck!
  24. Sorry you had kind of a rough time- glad to hear you are doing much better. You are right, the weigh tloss is sure to slow down, try not to be dissapointed when that happens. Congrats on your surgery!
  25. Glad to hear things are going so well! Keep up the good work, 20 pounds in a month is just awsome. However, be aware that at some point it will probably slow down. Best wishes!
