Can you "overstretch with fluid?"

Hi Everyone~~

I was just banded one week ago....and I was wondering if you can overstretch your "pouch" on taking in to much Fluid?? I am drinking alot and do not seem to be suffering any consequences...that concerns me a bit!

Thanks so much!

Hi,

With liquids or even soft musshies you can not overstretch your "band". You should be drinking lots of Water and fresh juices btw.

No, liquids generally flow right through.

I believe liquids go right down to you big stomach, so don't worry. I disagree with the post that said to drink fresh juice. Juice has lots of calories and natural sugar. Your much better off eating a piece of fruit- you are getting fiber that way. Best wishes!

My surgeon said to drink as much water and broth as you want during the liquid phase (at least 64oz), with at least 3 protein shakes per day. I asked him if the protein shakes should be measured and only consumer 4 oz at a time. He said "no", drink it all, it will go right through so no need to measure. He does not allow fruit juice on any phase due to calories and sugar.
