  1. I absolutely love an old Jane Fonda step aerobic tape from the 80's. You can find it on ebay, whoops I just realized it won't be on dvd, just vhs. My uncle put the vhs on a dvd for me. If you would like to private message me your address I can send you the dvd, I do the treadmill now. I think you could pick up a step at target or a sporting goods store. If your just starting to workout you can do it on the floor then add the step as your fitness improves. It doesn't require a lot of room either. Can't say enough about what a good workout it is, and kinda fun too. Best wishes!
  2. Your weight loss is great! 25 pounds in a month is awsome! Sorry to say, your first fill probably won't make you feel any different. For a lucky few it does. It took me 3 fills to feel any restriction. As far as the procedure, it's fairly easy. The doc. (or nurse if that's who does it at your office) will inject something to numb you, then use a needle to access the port. The needle is kind of long, but don't worry, you won't feel anything. At least that is my experience. Good luck and please don't be down on yourself, you are doing just great.
  3. I agree that what they ate isn't the norm. 4 tablespoons of yourgurt and broth? Where's the protien? In my experience, I have never felt full on such little food. I did think Dr. Oz did a good job presenting the pros and cons.
  4. Thanks for the heads up- I set my dvr.
  5. The basic premise of weight loss is that you need to burn more calories than you take in. That being said, I believe sticking to a low carb/low fat diet speeds weight loss. Eat lots of lean protien like chicken and fish. Stick with non starchy vegitables- no corn, potatoes et..) Also, excersise is vital to weight loss. Start out slow and gradually increase your duration/intensity. Hope this helps and good luck!
  6. I remember how excited I was to get my first fill. However, it took 3 fills for me to feel any kind of restriction. For some lucky people one fill does it. I hope that happens to you, just be aware it may not. Good luck in your journey!
  7. You may find if you continue how your eating, your weight loss stops. If it doesn't, and you can't eat anymore you may need a slight unfill. Congrats on being so close to goal!
  8. I eat 5-6 times a day. As an above poster, I eat cheese stick and nuts (1/4 c) for snacks. From what you wrote, you are doing just great. Keep up the good work!
  9. You may have some swelling from the fill. It may improve after a few days. In the meantime I might to liquids for a couple days. If it doesn't get better in 2-3 days I would go in for a slight unfill. Hope you feel better soon.
  10. Awsome! It's great to hit a milestone like that. Keep up the good work!
  11. It takes time for the mind to catch up to the body. The psychologist involved with my lapband office told me 2 things to do. One is to take a picture once a month. I do it in my bathing suit and it really helps me see my body changing. Also, save one set of "fat clothes". You should get rid of the rest because you'll never need them again. Hope this helps.
  12. Glad to hear life is settling down for you. Talk with your doc. and decide together what you should do in terms of a fill. Keep up the good work. Good luck!
  13. I would call your doc. and let them know what's going on. You probably have swelling from the surgery, but I would call. It's not good to not be able to keep water down, yoiu will get dehydrated. Hope you feel better soon.
  14. You've already gotten lots of good advice. My 2 cents is to focus on the what your eating, and worry about portions when you have restriction. Eat low carb, low fat, high protein. I eat lots of lean protein, like chicken, fish and lean port loin. This should keep you from gaining and you might even loose a litt.e Best wishes!
  15. Sounds like you don't have restriction yet. I would keep working with your doctor to get you to that sweet spot you've heard about. As far as your eating, get in your protient- at least 60gms a day. Watch your fat as well. I eat lots of lean protien, chicken, fish, lean pork loin. I snack on berreis, low fat cheese and nuts. Are you excersising. If not, I highly reccomend you start. It sure works wonders for weight loss never mind the other benefits. Start out slow and gradually increase your duration/intensity. Oh yeah, make sure you are getting at least 64 oz. fluids a day. Hope this helps and good luck.
  16. Realizing your eating because your angry is the first step in correcting it. I think you need to find something else to do that will provide comfort. Maybe yoga or a meditation tape. A nice workout might help too (once your cleared to excersisie of course). That's great you didn't give in. You are right in following your docs. post op diet. Keep up the good work and best wishes.
  17. Yes, reducing your carbs has probably reduced your appetite. Since your blood sugar isn't spiking and then crashing, your hunger stays at bay. Keep up the good work!
  18. That's great you've gotten back on track! Everyday is an opportunity to make healthy choices. Don't dwell on the past, it's done and over with. Best wishes!
  19. I highly reccomend you start working out if your not already. It is key for weight loss. Start out slow and gradually increase your duration/intensity. Also, be sure to get all your protien in, at least 60 gms. You also want at least 64 oz of fluids (caffinated doesn't count). I also ate very low carb and low fat while I was loosing. Lots of lean meat and non starchy veggies. Hope this helps and good luck.
  20. Isn't it great to fit into smaller clothes. Keep up the good work!
  21. Great- you are doing awsome! Keep up the good work.
  22. My first fill was uneventfull. I don't remember how much it was. I felt no different, it took 3 fills for me to feel any restriction. I wouldn't hesitate to voice your concerns to your doc. but also listen to what he/she has to say. Come to a decision together. I don't think your pouch can stretch from a fill, that would take months of overeating from what I understand. Hope this helps and good luck.
  23. I would give it a few days. I have had lots of burping when I have been a little tight. You may have some swelling from the fill that will subside. If your not better in 2-3 days I would call your doc.
