  1. I see Dr Park Monday, its my first apt with anyone since my orientation. Will she set my surgery date then or does that come later (assuming she likes my weight loss thus far)? Do I have to complete the other stuff before I get a tentative date?
  2. Hi everyone...weekend is here and these are always the hardest for me but I see Dr. Park Monday morning so I am trying to be real good and hopefully will be 20 lbs down since 1/26 so I can move through the process. I have my walks up to 2 miles--this weekend I hope to get a 3 mile walk in if the weather cooperates. If its raining I am gonna hit the inside of the mall walk. Lee/John, you guys are doing great! I actully am thinking about switching to the sleeve. I am going to read more about it before Monday and I might send you a p/m if I have questions, I hope that is ok. Nicole/Tamara, you guys are doing great also! Keep up the good work, you are both inspiring to me. Been a weird week and I hope all the turmoil around us passes quickly...a couple friends at work were squabbling, my two sons were fighting, their school had 6 fights this week, students protesting all around and little turmoil in this forum...must be a full moon or something! Anyway, blessings to all and I am learning from ALL of you so I hope you guys don't break up the group and everyone sticks around. Wish me luck for Monday with Dr. Park! I am so excited!
  3. Hi Beverly, Congratulations on soon to be banded. I meet the surgeon on Monday so hopefully I will have my date. There are lots of great people on here at all different stages so stick around and ask them your questions...they are very supportive and knowledgable on this band thing. Who is your surgeon and how much weight did you have to lose prior to surgery? Wishing you the best on your surgery, keep us posted. Alison
  4. So, I am chosing only to tell my immeidate family; At work when I am gone and someone asks where I was, what should I say? I can't say female surgery as I had that last year....hernia, gladder, etc? I am close to some people at work and feel guilty not telling them but it would get around and I don't want people talking...what should I say?
  5. Tina, I too am so sorry for all that your going through; it doesn't make sense to me either. I hope that this tough time for you ends soon--band wise and work wise. All this budget stuff is just crazy and the turmoil that it puts empolyees and their families in is just nuts--and in your case these children that are already in unfornatue situations are going to suffer more. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers for all to work out!
  6. Good idea Laurel! We could all put some pressure Kaiser! I am in Roseville area and traveling anywhere around around Sacto would be so much better than Richmond.... Tina, let's hope that everything works out properly for you--I am new to all this so I don't understand all the reasons but if you are the paying member they would listen a little better, especially if its just refilling what they took out.
  7. Heather you look wonderful! Great job and keep up the dedication, its inspiring!
  8. Awesome Ashley! Whoo hooo for all the good news today! Your son is doing great and you are moving to the next steps. :w00t:
  9. Morning everyone. Next year I will know to just donate some cash to the girl scouts and NOT to buy any darn cookies! I thought I could resist but I did break down and ate a few. They tasted so good but the guilt I had following tasted horrible. Sounds like the few that have checked in today are doing good. Next month I am going to lunch! lol
  10. From the instruction I received at my orientation they said never carbonated drinks as they make the pouch stretch. And drinking while eating pushes the food through the pouch to quickly and you don't keep the fullness feeling. NO straws either as it brings in to much air and expands the pouch too! These are lifestyle changes that we have to be able to live with in working with the band. You can do it--its just a new way of thinking!
  11. Tina (I hope that's the right name) I love the way you analize your options and lay it all out; that's just what I would do too. I don't have any advice for you except do what you feel is right in your heart and keep focused. You certainly have given me things to think about. Good luck and I pray that the right answer comes your way.
  12. Hi everyone, Great to meet some of you today and learning from the ones that have gone through this already and to talk to the ones that are preparing for surgery like myself. Thanks for all you guys do! Ended up being a nice sunny day this afternoon and I went for a nice walk. Yeah!
  13. Have fun Tamara, drive safe--weather is crazy. You will make good choices, I have faith in you.
  14. Today is 30 days on the prediet; what type of diet are you on? Mine is high Protein and 1200 calories a day. I have done very well and lost 15 pounds. Eating the protien part of the meal first have really helped me stay full longer and keeping away from the carbs has been very helpful. Carbs lead to craving more carbs. I have had to learn to like foods that I didn't eat before like hard boiled eggs, cottage cheese, and tuna. Good Luck...you can do it. The support you find here will be helpful.:cursing:
  15. Hi everyone...looking forward to the meeting tomorrow. How many people usually attend these meetings?
  16. Tommorrow is one month since I started my pre-op diet....I have had no caffeine or carbonated drinks for 30 days--seriously had doubts I could do that but its been good. I had headaches the first couple days without my morning joe but once I started with decaf coffee I was fine. Decaf tea just didn't do it for me. I had my weight check today and confirmed I was down 15 pounds in 30 days. I am very pleased with that but I know it wont stay dropping so quickly but it sure has got me motivated. I have been walking more and am up to 2 miles about 4 times per week. I hope next week to even do longer walks. I am logging my miles and hope I will have walked 250 miles by my birthday in August. My goal is to do the "Run for the Hungry" on Thanksgiving...well, in my case it will be the "Walk for the Hungry" because me and running is not a pretty sight. I am anxious for my apt with Dr Park on March 8th...I hope she lets me move forward without much delay. I am hoping I have surgery in Mid May and I am taking the full four weeks---you guys are so brave that started back after 2 weeks. Have a great night! What I did good today--my boss brought in some delious looking scones from Panera's .... didn't even take one nibble. It was real hard to avoid them! What I did bad today---had pintos and cheese from taco bell for lunch and wendy's chili for dinner Yikes!
  17. I was wondering the same thing! lol
  18. Hi everyone, This newbie will be there Saturday...hope I can go to lunch too but have to wait for my son's baseball schedule. I am off to Kaiser for a weight check! I was hungry so I already ate my lunch so probably will mess up my weigh in a little but that's ok, will make it up next week. This sunshine is wonderful and my son has a baseball :thumbup:game today so I will be soaking up some rays! yeah.
  19. Tamara, Hang in there, you will get it. Lifestyle changes are hard in all aspects. I love your honesty and that keeps all this real and keeps you accountable. You have lots of people here on your side that will get on your case for good reasons. You are at a tender stage and have come along way--don't go backwards-- fill or no fill. Keep walking! Everyday your one day closer to goal.
  20. Today is the first day I actully feel like I lost some pounds! Yippee...I could never believe the scale when it said I lost because I felt the same but today I feel like there's a little less of me. Still no one has noticed but that's ok...there is so much of me it will probably take 40 pounds before someone notices. Have a great day!
  21. Candra, I would say that you have tried enough home remedies....go today to Kaiser; you should not be suffering like that. Take care of your headache and don't worry about the food; that will happen as soon as your better.:tongue_smilie:
  22. I actully like the cream of rice...lol I grew up with cream of wheat so it was a nice change. Foods that I have always hated--hard boilded eggs, cottage cheese, tuna---somehow have become my friends. I am so glad that I can eat them now and not gag...at nearly 50 my taste buds are changing!!!:tongue_smilie:
  23. I will be happy to receive any clothes; over the past year I have bought very few clothes and what I bought was all size 24....so I will be happy to recieve any 22/24's. Hopefully I wont have them long but it would be great to help me get through and then I will have something to pass along to the next group of newbies. Saturday will be my first meeting at point west but from what I learned was it runs from 11-1 and then lots of them go to lunch afterwards. I don't know what room but they said just ask when you get inside the building door. Looking forward to meeting everyone. So glad to learn that shoe sizes shrink too!
  24. Hi everyone, It's my day off today and days off are so hard to stay on track with food but I am doing good today so far. Yesterday my boys had friends over so I made them cookies but of course I had to eat a couple but I have put the remaining ones in a baggie and hopefully they will stay put away...lol I walked 2 miles this morning and it felt pretty good; I have been doing about 1.5 miles in the evening but since I was able to walk this morning in the daytime I felt I could walk longer. Can't wait to meet you guys this Saturday at the Point West meeting. I have a funny question, did any of you lose weight in your feet? I so want to wear a smaller size shoe...lol Have a great day.
  25. Riley, You are an inpiration to us newbies....your struggles are real and you seem to have your priorities in good order. Losing weight can't be the only focus on this new life....confidence, love, and overall happiness is important too. Keep up the awesome job and you will refocus and get to goal.
