I love the Syntrax Nectar but I'm also wanting to try the Inspire from Bariatric Eating.

Do you go to Lap Band support group meetings?
My doctor requires you to attend like 6 meetings a year to get your fills. I'll check out the sites you posted.

Insulting questions. We are not alone!
Well said! I totally agree:)

Do you go to Lap Band support group meetings?
I went to my first one last night. It was a real eye opener. I learned that over time all I should be able to eat is 8 tablespoons of food per meal and that's it. I should be full after that. That blew my mind! I mean really when you think about it that's not much at all. There were people there of all weights and sizes. It was neat to see the progress they are making. I was also given some shake recipes and some real food recipes that I can't wait to try. Anyway it was fun. I'll definitely go back next month. I think I was the newest bandster there but I've done Weight Watchers so much in the past that even I had some good tips to add:)

ohhhh-so embarrassed!
That is good to know! I was hoping the gas wouldn't last forever.

I'm SICK *cough*cough*
The best over the counter cough medicine IMO is Delsym liquid. It's totally safe. If your head is stopped up I'd take some Mucinex also. I have a cold right now. So far mine is just a stopped head and really sore throat. No cough...yet. I've been taking Mucinex and using my Nasonex nasal spray. This darn weather is really getting me right now.

August Rush in bandland!
Congrats on the loss!! I hope your problems stop now.

How long did it take from the time you decided to get banded to your surgery date?
I started looking into it the first part of June and was banded the first week of August. It would have been quicker than that but I had issues with my doc's insurance lady.

Yeahhhh i'm approved and have a surgery date!!!!
Congratulations!!!

August Rush in bandland!
MSDV- I have a dumb question. I know when some people get close to goal they get a low profile port so it's not as noticeable. Does insurance cover this and why don't they use them to start with? Just curious:) If any of you know the answer feel free to chime in.

I don't think it's related to my band but I feel horrible...
I had to find this post b/c guess what? I feel the same way again. Weak, starving, shakey, indigestion. Apparently it is just related to my monthly cycle. Because it was almost 4 weeks ago when I originally posted this. At least now that I know what it is I know it will also pass. I just have to stay strong and NOT eat.

1 week post op MISERABLE and I want out
First you must understand EVERY surgeon has his OWN rules. Mine is fine with me having coffee, drinking occasionally and eating whatever I want as long as I get my Protein in. I can take pills with no problems. I had no pain with my surgery other than gas pain. It was like a non event for me. The second day after I was banded I did stuck on a small capsule but warm Water washed it right down. I haven't had any issues since then. I have banded friends who are at their goal weight now who also drink COKES and they use straws with them. They also eat diets of junk. They don't get sick at all but IMO they aren't treating their bodies right. I do not regret having this done at all. I'd do it again if need be. I will say though for me as far as pain goes the only thing's I've ever need pain meds for was during labor- none afterwards and after having knee surgery. I've had 6 other surgeries including a gallbladder removal and a hysterectomy with no pain at all. When I told the pre op nurse that while she was getting me ready for my Lap Band surgery she told me I'd do fine then and wouldn't have pain or need pain meds.

I was told to do this but I couldn't. It tasted way too nasty. I'd call your doc for an alternative medicine.

I have an obstacle and I need to vent LONG
I don't mind taking meds to get relief but narcotics all make me throw up so I have to take Phenergan with them and well after that I can only sleep. LOL Would you try the injection even though there's no definitive reason for my pain? My family doc said the injection would be diagnostic also b/c if it worked that would tell them for sure that it was a pinched nerve. I can't remember now where the doc said it was pinched but he has a theory on where it is and a plan on where to put the injection. Thanks Betsy!!

Question for someone who knows about Insurance
Technically since you paid cash up front he shouldn't be able to charge your insurance but truthfully? Unless he gave you a receipt that specifically said the money was to cover the first 12 months after care then legally yeah he can bill em.

August Rush in bandland!
WTG! I bet they won't recognize you!

Bandaversay approaching & missing BREAD
Congrats on your loss! I'd wait a while to have the surgery. Most surgeons here want you within 20 pounds of your goal weight before they do it otherwise you'll end up with flabby belly again once you reach your goal weight.

It has finally Happened!!
Congratulations!!!

laparoscopic versus incision procedure--which did you have?
Mine was Laparoscopic. I still have scars but only 5 small scars.

ohhhh-so embarrassed!
I've been taking a digestive enzyme that helps a TON with that. I got it at WalMart and it's like $8.00 for a month supply. Digestive Advantage Gas Defense Formula

I have an obstacle and I need to vent LONG
Thanks. I want it fixed too. I'm at 100% coverage with my insurance through the end of this year so that would probably be my best bet. I'm just so tired of this:(

August Rush in bandland!
Thanks I'll try that. I guess it's normal then huh?

I have an obstacle and I need to vent LONG
Okay almost 7 years ago I started having a debilitating pain in my left knee and down the outside of my left leg. It would go down my leg and into my foot. The pain on a scale of 1-10 was a 20! Nothing helped it or made it ease up. I saw an orthopedic doc who said I had patello femoral knee pain in my knee and I needed physical therapy. So I did PT on and off for years. Finally in 2005 the pain became unbearable and I had surgery on my knee. The doc never said that my knee was making my leg hurt but since I kept complaining with my leg and he kept talking about my knee I just Assumed they were connected. Well I had the surgery and my knee was doing great but my leg was still KILLING me. That's when he told me that they were NOT related at ALL and that he felt I had a pinched nerve in my back that was making my leg hurt so badly. Since then I've seen 2 neurologists, 1 neurosurgeon, a Rheumatologist, 2 more orthopedic docs besides the one I have, my family doc and a Physical Medicine doc. I've had an MRI of my leg, knee and low back. I've also had an EMG which was good. The physical med doc said he felt that the MRI wasn't telling the whole story and I that have a pinched nerve and it's just not showing up on the MRI. He wanted to do an epidural steroid injection. I got pregnant after that and couldn't do it. Now here I am. My baby is 6 months old. EVERY SINGLE TIME I walk a lot I go to bed with a horrible pain in my leg:( Rather it's walking on my treadmill or just walking a lot b/c I'm out shopping. The only thing that helps is to take Vicodin OR a sleeping pill so I can at least sleep through the night but I can't take either with a baby in the house. I'm 30 years old and I'm tired of having this pain. It holds me back so much! Should I just go ahead and schedule the Steroid Injection or what? I've spent a lot of time and money on this not to have definite answers. I see my Lap Band surgeon again in 2 weeks and I'm going to go over all of this with him and see what he says also. It actually depresses me:(
