  1. Yay! I'm glad you had a such a great time:) I went on Tuesday and it's awesome! I finally LOVE shopping again:)
  2. I have a question for you guys. Ever since my fill on Tuesday I'm burping constantly. Why is that? I just ate a small piece of pork chop and some purple hull peas. I'm still hungry but I don't want to push it so I'll wait awhile first and see if I'm still hungry.
  3. Well I have hypothyroidism and I have it bad and I've had it since I was 16 but that was not a good enough comorbidity for my insurance. I also have sleep apnea and Hypertension though so that got me covered. Have you ever had a sleep study done just to make sure you don't have sleep apnea?
  4. Have fun! That's a lot of packing. I'm back on food today after my fill and I'm starving!! Taking it slowly though. I don't want to end up sick.
  5. Since getting my fill on Tuesday I'm burping a LOT. Why is that? I'm about to find me some real food and try it for breakfast. Hopefully there are no problems.
  6. I have UHC Choice Plus. There was no previous dieting required and I didn't need a referral from my PCP. My whole process was done and I was banded within 2 months of calling the surgeon for the initial consult. I was approved within 5 days.
  7. I have UHC Choice Plus! I was approved in 5 business days. Good Luck!!
  8. My doc said 48 hours and his nurse said only 24. I'm playing it safe and staying on liquids for the full 48 but I'm wondering what are your doctors telling you? What do you do? I'm starving! I can't wait to eat real food tomorrow but I'm also sort of nervous. I'm getting liquids down fine but this morning I almost threw up one of my meds. It made me wonder how tight I'm going to be.
  9. That is a good read. Thanks for sharing!
  10. I drink it all the time. I love the lemon flavored one. IMO it's better for you than Crystal Light as long as your buying the ZERO version.
  11. My hospital billed a total of $111,00 JUST for the band surgery with no complications. Of course they are still fighting with my insurance over it but dh jokingly said... Babe, I'm not sure your even worth that much. LOL So far my insurance paid $11K and it looks like the rest will be written off.
  12. Honestly there's a pre op nurse at my hospital that just had it done in June. She's doing awesome and she takes ALL the pre op Lap Band patients just so she can help ease any fears they have. There are 3 employees that work for my surgeon that have had it done. Then I personally know 5 people who have had it done. They all told me it's the best decision they've ever made. I asked my surgeon upfront if he's ever had a patient with problems and he said only 1 and her port flipped and that was it. It is surgery and all surgeries carry risks but after researching everything I decided that the risk with the Lap Band surgery is minimal and I'm glad I did it. You have to do what you feel is right and not what your aunt or your parents want you to do.
  13. Thanks! He also asked what my goal weight was. I told him 150 or maybe 140 but the dietician says I should weigh 125. He said not to worry about the dietician that she's crazy. LOL He thinks I'd be perfect at 150 he said possibly even 160 but I'm leaning toward 150:)
  14. LOL at the flat tires!! If I were you I think I'd look for a new doctor. This is a journey and you need someone who is supportive and knows what they are doing to help you through it. Your doing great on your loss but a fill would help take away that hunger.
  15. Yep you can do it!!! Once I got some restriction with my first fill the weight started coming right off.
  16. So how many fills have you had so far? Do you get the reflux every time? It's annoying to me but since it's happened each time I'm guessing it's just a normal side effect, right?
  17. I've always had stomach problems so I've been told to get 30 to 35 grams a day. Here's the stupid question part... Will that interfere with my band? What I mean is I was told Fiber swells in your stomach so it won't irritate my band or anything will it? :cursing:
  18. I had mine done about 5 weeks ago with no problems. I think you should get a new stylist. Having your hair done is supposed to be relaxing. My stylist is banded also. She's really inspiring to me and we have a lot to talk about now.
  19. I agree! Nothing cuts the nastiness of it. Just down it FAST and get it over with.
  20. Okay guys I got 1 cc added today for a total of 5 cc's. I've lost 8 pounds in the last 4 weeks!!! Afterwards I went shopping and got some new, smaller jeans!! I went to Old Navy. They are offering an additional 40% off all clearance prices so I got my jeans for $11.00 a pair and some shirts for $5.00 a piece! Can't beat that!
  21. Last month I got my first fill of 1 cc which brought me to 4 cc's total. For the first 5 or 6 days afterwards I had a lot of heartburn and reflux and then it went away. I didn't have it every time I ate, just sporadically throughout the day. Now today I had 1 more cc added and I've got reflux and heartburn again. It's mild but it's definitely there. I'm on liquids for the next 24 hours. Should I just assume that for me it's normal to have reflux for a few days after a fill or what? I drank Water at my appointment with no problem and I'm having no problem swallowing or keeping down liquids.
  22. Personally I picked the band b/c it's less invasive BUT if I ever have problems with it then I will do the sleeve also. Some times I wish I had done it to start with but it requires more down time and I have 3 kids at home so I couldn't afford much down time.
  23. you are right about that! I just read an article yesterday I think it was in Family Circle. Anyway this lady had gastric bypass and lost 80 pounds then gained it all back and then some. A couple of years later she decided she really was ready to lose weight so she started eating better and working out daily and lost it all. She said she just wasn't ready the first time around so she didn't use her surgery correctly.
  24. I LOVE Belk but I can get into trouble there easily:) The other day for example I found a shirt I really liked but it was $36 and it was just a cotton shirt. I actually have some of those shirts from Wal Mart and you are right they run small but they fit good. I'm going to Old Navy today after my fill appointment to check their clearance racks.
