Does it feel the same?
My doc planned a 1 surgical removal and revision but once he was in to removed the slipped damn band I had so much swelling and inflammation he wasn't comfortable doing the revision and sent me home to heal for 6 months. Later he told me the area he staples for the pouch had been so stressed and thinned out that he would not have been able to staple where he wanted and would have had to make a bigger pouch. I definitely didn't need a bigger pouch!!!!! HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 214.6

Did I make the best choice?

FYI my insurance laughs at the duodenal switch. Not even an option. Just a thought! Not sure I'd be brave enough to go that route anyway (that whole partial gastrectomy thing....). ALSO my impression was that they saved DS or higher BMI patients 50-55+, mostly because it is a tough surgery so it's used on those requiring the most weight loss. Your BMI of 40 actually puts you on the lower end for bariatric surgery patients. You have to go with what surgery you're comfortable with. DS scares me a bit.- Silly question? When were you able to sleep on your stomach.
I slept half on my stomach with my side propped partially on a pillow the day after surgery. I was flat on my tummy in 5-6 days post-op. HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 214.6- Lap band question for all
I never got thin enough my port was visible but I could feel it. Didn't really bother me unless I leaned over the tub to clean it or something else that put direct pressure on it.- Lap band question for all
Google non adjustable gastric banding. It does exist, it was the precursor to the adjustable gastric band and has very much fallen out of favor. Never really got popular.- More birth control advice please
Yup, just push it up in there til you don't feel it. I take it out while sitting on the toilet, makes it easier. My gun lets me keep it in for 4 weeks then replace. I spot lightly For a day or two but no periods. Woohoo! HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 214.6- Band to RNY..first steps
It's so freaking worth it!!!! I'm not losing nearly as fast as the other folks from February but I'm slowly and consistently losing (except for the darn stalls). And I'm not starving, and I don't feel deprived, and I feel good!!!! I never ever ever felt this good with that darn band!!! So very worth it!!!!! HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 214.6- More birth control advice please
I can't feel mine at all. Sometimes have to check and make sure it's there cuz I just done feel it at all! HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 214.6- Meal ideas
- What does gastric bypass FEEL like?
I'm just over 3 months out and not really feel anything different. I get hunger pangs but the resolve quickly with a couple bites of something. If I'm super busy and forget to eat I get queasy. But otherwise it's just a slightly noisy, gurgly stomach and just feels like a stomach. HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 214.6- esophageal dysmotility
The last month or so before my band removal dido at a dozen times a night. The worst is when it comes out your nose. Man that burns!!!! FYI zero reflux in the 9 months since my band came out or the last three while I've had my RNY, it's awesome!!! HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 214.6- Do you weigh or measure your food?
Weigh solids measure liquids....- Fabulous February Post-Op's
I am now safely in the obese category I class having maxed out several years ago in category III (aka super morbidly obese) next stop, just plain overweight! (What a goal right???) that's 30 pounds from here so a ways to go!!! HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 216.0- First meeting with the surgeon, what to expect?
The first visit was my least favorite. I felt like I had to prove myself and my knowledge to him....a lot of questions about why I was over weight, what I'd tried to lose, family support, etc....my guess is a lot if people come in looking or a quick fix without doing any research, etc so he's deciding who is serious and who is wasting his time....- rny v lap band
Read the band to bypass forum....there are a bunch of us that had horrible problems with the band and are doing great with bypass....talk to your doc and do your research before you chose! Good luck- Fabulous February Post-Op's

TMI but I realized a few days ago that I no longer feel like I'm going to throw my toenails up when I need to poop! I consider myself officially healed! HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 217.2- My surgeon wants me to lose 20 lbs in 6 months...and i'm havin trouble
I also know people who have been told to lose 20 pounds, didn't, and surgery was cancelled. Some surgeons are serious when they say you must lose....good luck!!!!! I know it sucks but you CAN do this!!!!- liver shrinkage paranoia
It is HARD....giving up food is one thing....the headache and ridiculous fatigue and moodiness are another....it sucks, but it absolutely can be done! We are living proof!!!- Fabulous February Post-Op's
My salads are typically baby spinach or mixed greens, I've included cucumber, carrots, celery, radish, avocado, and olives at various points with no issue with any. (I can only eat a few baby carrots and I'm stuffed but with shredded carrots on a salad I'm fine). I usually top with turkey, egg white, and cheese so it's a full meal and I've been using Newmans Own light dressings, I have a couple different favors. They're around 45 calories for 2 tablespoons but I don't need 2 tablespoons . No tummy issues at all with the salads and fiber is my friend! Good luck. I'd start small with just a few bites of a single veg and see how you do! HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 217.2- Any aussie rny people out there..
The pain meds gave me a headache....ironic but true!!!! I so love life without my band!!!!!! HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 217.2 - Did I make the best choice?
