It seems like everyone is losing weight so easily on the all liquid diet, I wonder if its the same dor people who can still eat regular food?

I don't know. Mine was a 2 week shake diet. I could have dill pickles the first week. I only cheated once and that was a few days in when I ate a handful of crackers because I was nauseous I dropped 22 pds. I was jealous of those that could eat food though.

My doctor, I think, had the shock value thing going on with it. If you can't stay on a shake diet for 2 weeks, why think you could do this? This is WAY more severe. It's basically divorcing every single thing you love in food. I guess that why he didn't give the food option.

lol, it's entirely possible! He did say he's had people come in and not do surgery because they couldn't give up the food. I think he just doesn't want anyone to make a mistake.

Maybe.

I can def relate girl!

Also on shakes for 2 weeks. it was HECTIC. longest 2 weeks of my life. Well, apart from the time in hospital that I had some complications.

I was also extremely paranoid that my liver wouldn't have shrunk enough (because I was diagnosed with enlarged fatty liver).

Just push through it, and do your best.

In 2 weeks everything is gonna change.

I KNOW you can be strong. And sometimes one stumbles, but by dear god, get back up immediately and give yourself a good talking to to not do it again, and just PUSH FORWARD!

good luck!!

Thank you ladies I really appreciate the kind words and motivation! My surgery is Monday anyway. I've gotten through 11 days already and I only have today, tomorrow, and Saturday to get through and then Sunday is all liquids. So I will push through.

The headaches and moodiness are killing me!! I never thought I could be such a rotten person lol. I'm on Day 3 of the liquid diet and hope this passes quickly!

Even if your liver doesn't shrink completely, you'll be fine. When a liver is fatty, it is stiff and bleeds easily when it is moved around. With weight loss it becomes soft and (usually) shrinks. Mine didn't shrink much ( she said I had a rather large liver) but that it was soft and that's what they're most worried about, because they have to retract it during the surgery and don't want it to bleed.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
